So very sad. Think the government should have put their hands in their pockets and helped them out. It was very much a people’s airline. Part of a internal transport system if you like, and of all the airlines that are no longer, I think Flybe will be missed the most.
Sorry to hear about your situation, I also know people who have become a casualty of Flybe collapse who work for Birmingham airport. Add Coronavirus to the mix and the future doesn't look good.

I generally travel often to the UK, but never had the chance to try Flybe. Sometimes its flight were cheaper than the train. While Flybe might be gone, there are still Stobart Air and Eastern, which were its partner airlines
Thank you for the flight , i enyoed it a lot ! My Brother and i was very often in Great Britain except Wales , and i have enyoy it a lot ! We were in South England and Scotland , and in Scotland we were in Edinburgh to visit Edinburgh Castle and Loch Ness , but there was no Nessie in sight , but the Landscape at Loch Ness is very beautiful , and i have buy a Toy Nessie in the Souveniershop ! In Belfast is the must see landmark the Titanic Museum !
Thanks a lot, Robert. Sorry for the late answer. I would love to had visited the Titanic museum... but I didn't have enough time to get out of the airport, visit it, and then come back. Hopefully next time! Have a nice week!
Working as a Flybe Gate Agent we were told to strictly enforce the bag policy we had no choice otherwise the crew would flag us up to HQ. The Dash also has small lockers so bags needed to be monitored. The coach would also have waited for as many passengers as possible as they would want to take as few trips as possible.
Hey Jay! Thanks a lot for all this info! I understand perfectly that they needed to be strict with the bag sizes as they were operating regional planes with small overhead compartments. However, this was the most exaggerated control I've seen in more than 400 flights as a passenger. It was ridiculous. I've seen passengers paying 35 pounds (or 30, or 60, I don't remember the exact number) because the bag was some millimetres outside of the size. Of course, I'm not saying anything bad to you or your mates, I know perfectly that you just follow orders coming from the airline. Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed the video and wish you the best of luck finding a new job in aviation! Hopefully all this sh**** with Covid, the MAXes, the fuel price... will come to an end soon, and aviation will go back to its normal "routine". Greetings from Bratislava and thanks again for your comment!
OnBoardHD - Flight Experience I agree Flybe shouldn’t punish passengers for their aircraft having small lockers. Other operators of the type tag bags for the hold and return them at the aircraft steps. It should be noted that from February the policy did change and Flybe began allowing passengers to check bags into the hold free of charge which probably helped contribute to its decline. We went from taking £200+ at the gate to nothing.
@@AARON-ft9bz Good to know. I didn't know that. Anyway, that was just a little tiny thing that accelerated things a little. But it's obvious that there was poor management behind the airline... that was the main reason in my opinion.
@@AARON-ft9bz Not really, the decline was down to piss poor management by Christine Ourmirers Widner and the Virgin take over where they were more interested in rebranding Flybe than fixing the problems with it.
The last flights I had with Flybe were from Dublin to Doncaster operated by Embraer 175's a lovely aircraft plenty of legroom but never much more than half full.
I have another Flybe video on the channel, from Stuttgart to Birmingham, and it was initially planed on an E175 and I was super-excited for flying on it. But the day of the flight came and the plane used was a Dash 8. So I could never fly on that plane... =( Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed the video!
Haha I think it looked more than what it was in reality. Perhaps because we are not used to seeing how the wheel touches directly the ground. That doesn't mean that I say it was a soft landing, not at all hehe
Nice video as always😉,btw am I the only person think that Flybe was very useful for travellers in the UK?They were flying a LOT of different routes that British Airways don’t fly. So sad for people travelling within the UK.😔
Yep, reading the news during the last months it was kind of predictable. I guess the virus just accelerated things that probably were gonna happen anyway... =(
¡Gran video Lucas!
Saludos
I was really looking forward to booking a round day trip to Belfast City from East Midlands in October, but now I’m going to have to get up an hour earlier to get to Birmingham to fly easy jet to Belfast international. A real shame..
I guess the regional airlines need a big revamp if they want to survive. They may need to change a little their strategy. Low-cost airlines are able to offer basically the same routes for lower prices and being profitable. I have a trip report from Belfast city to East Midlands on the channel! :)
Ostras!
I guess their business model was not the best one... regional airlines are struggling all around Europe. Low-cost airlines can offer almost the same routes more efficiently. Did you have any bad experience with Ryanair? I flew with them around 350 times and I didn't =/
First, I would like to apologise for that misleading in your case. The video and especially the description of the video, states clearly that this is not the last flight of Flybe as an airline, but the last Flybe flight (trip report, video or whatever we want to call it) on the channel. I did the same when the Thomas Cook bankruptcy happened months ago and almost nobody felt misled. That's why I did the same, but this time including it also on the video. If I remember well, the video was recorded in Autumn last year. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and again sorry if you felt kind of misled. Wish you a nice Sunday. :)
Well, both the video and, especially, the description of the video state that it means the last Flybe trip report of the channel. I hope it didn't mislead you... if yes, I'm sorry about that. When it happened with Thomas Cook I did something similar and there were no problems. That's why I've decided to do the same again. Hope you've enjoyed the trip report.
Me indignó muchísimo. Saludos!
They hadn’t disembarked that second Ryanair. The rear steps had only just been put on and they were still putting the safety rails on the front steps. The hold doors hasn’t been opened and you can se the baggage marshal signalling today see if the GPU has connected properly to the flight deck which is something that happens as soon as it pulls onto stand
Yep, seems that you are right. My mistake when editing. Anyway, what I wanted to illustrate with that is that we were waiting a lot. More than 30 minutes on the bus because they were measuring to the millimetre every bag. Hope you've enjoyed watching the video!
Muchas gracias!
Absolute Shame Flybe has gone. I was so looking forward to flying with them from Newquay to Heathrow. Flybe has been are solo operator for years from Newquay
It's really sad to see them gone... In fact, too many great British airlines are gone already (Monarch, Thomas Cook... and now Flybe). Pfff =( What I think it's for sure is that other airline will take their place, at least in the most profitable routes...
Because they were badly managed for years. Despite good loads and brilliant staff, management made bad decisions after bad decisions and basically ran out of cash. Even when taken over and cash injected by Virgin / Connect Airways it was too little too late. The final nail in the coffin? - Coronavirus. A real shame to let such a valuable asset to Britain go this way.
It wasn't successfully ran until the last months flybe ran. The purchase of the jets were too expensive. The ceo when it went down was amazing to staff. Managment kept throwing money around the place to keep thr money going rather than sorting the problem. The company structure had jobs that weren't needed or too many for one job. It was just beginning to become successful with the restructure. It aimed to be profitable on year 3 (2019 was year 1)

Hope all at Flybe find new jobs with different airlines very soon 🙏
First Monarch, Then Thomas Cook and Now Flybe 😭
Thanks a lot for the comment. It's nice to see the point of view of other people.
It's sad to see so many good airlines go bankruptcy... Air Berlin, Monarch, Germania, Thomas Cook, Flybe... pfff =((

It's sad flybe has to go... BECAUSE NOW WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH RYANAIR!
I guess their business model was not the best one... regional airlines are struggling all around Europe. Low-cost airlines can offer almost the same routes more efficiently.
Did you have any bad experience with Ryanair? I flew with them around 350 times and I didn't =/
Why i'm live in birmingham and there is no one walking with shorts? When It was filmed????
I miss flybe
We all do it I guess 😔
But it wasn't the last?????
Well, both the video and, especially, the description of the video state that it means the last Flybe trip report of the channel. I hope it didn't mislead you... if yes, I'm sorry about that.
When it happened with Thomas Cook I did something similar and there were no problems. That's why I've decided to do the same again.
Hope you've enjoyed the trip report.

Me indignó muchísimo.

Wonder what going to happen to Dash 8-400s and other planes that Flybe own?? Are they going to other Airlines??
I really have no idea. There are not so many airlines that fly this model... Austrian, for example, is getting rid of them.
OnBoardHD - Flight Experience wow idk that Austrian retiring the dash 8s

It's really sad to see them gone... In fact, too many great British airlines are gone already (Monarch, Thomas Cook... and now Flybe). Pfff =(
What I think it's for sure is that other airline will take their place, at least in the most profitable routes...
How can such a successful airline go bankrupt so easily. RIP FlyBe.
Well, I guess because it was not so successful. As far as I know, they had economical problems since a lot of months ago.... =(
Because they were badly managed for years.
@@shiftymuckers6627 Yep, I think pretty much the same. =(
It wasn't successfully ran until the last months flybe ran. The purchase of the jets were too expensive. The ceo when it went down was amazing to staff. Managment kept throwing money around the place to keep thr money going rather than sorting the problem. The company structure had jobs that weren't needed or too many for one job. It was just beginning to become successful with the restructure. It aimed to be profitable on year 3 (2019 was year 1)
I'm not surprised they went bust the prices they charge.
