Hello, thank you for your videos! They are incredibly informative and present the information into an easily understandable way. I'm noticing that I don't have the PDF to Excel functionality. I have 365 business enterprise and just recently updated to the latest version, but still not there. Would you happen to know what I would need to do to get it?
Hey, Thanks for the tutorial! But I am not able to see the Import from PDF option. All other options available though in the Import from File option. Any idea, if I need to enable something?
Hi Leila, For some time you have been my go-to tutorial source for Excel questions. Now I've discovered you post regularly and have become a regular. Today you hit a topic that I have wrestled with so many times in the past. Your special gift is clarity and relevancy. You also include the little details that novices like me really need in order to become proficient. Thank you so much!
Leila, You just cannot imagine what a life saver you have been. I saw many videos trying to explain importing PDF to Excel. Unfortunately, none of those could solve my problem. I get job cards in PDF format and need to convert those to Excel to maintain the material receipt. I had to spend hours converting each job card. Now I can very accurately convert those in a matter of minutes. In fact, before this comment, I managed to convert 10 job cards. Thanks a TON.
Leila, I cannot believe my eyes. You just cannot imagine what a lifesaver you have been. I saw many videos trying to explain importing PDFs to Excel. Unfortunately, none of those could solve my problem. I get Invoices in PDF format and need to convert those line items wise to Excel to maintain the material and quantity, rate and total amount. I had to spend hours converting each Invoice. Now I can very accurately convert those in a matter of minutes. In fact, before this comment, I managed to convert 23 invoices. Thank you very much!
For loading multiple files in one go, I tested Get Data > From File > From Folder, combined the files (Content column) … and it resulted in a query with the data from each of the files (same document structure). 👍💪 This could be quite convenient to process data in, say, monthly reports, bank statements, etc.

Leila is the Excel guru! Superb video!!! I'd like to add that if you don't see this functionality in your Excel despite having the latest Office 365 it's because it's only supported in Windows 10. Hence if you're running any other version of Windows you'll need to upgrade to Windows 10 (if your running Windows 7 the upgrade is free). Once you've upgraded to Windows 10, you need to update your Excel version by: File --> Account --> Office Updates --> Update Now Now this functionality should exist.

So you watch the video and try to do it, but you can't and then you spend a bunch of time trying to figure out why, to find out that this feature just hasn't been rolled out to everyone yet. I think she is subscribed to the beta testers group, so she gets access to things before the rest of us. I think this is the third or fourth video that I have watched where my version of Excel doesn't have the functionality she is demonstrating. It would be helpful if at the beginning, where she says "this is where the feature is located" if she added something like, "This feature hasn't been added for all users of excel at this time, if you don't see it here, you can't do this yet and there is no way for you to add the feature." It's not a bad video, but people only have so much time, so knowing something like that upfront would be helpful for the less savvy excel users. Also some people just dislike stuff and I don't know why. 28 isn't really all that bad.

Thanks so much for sharing helpful and important information. I'm using Excel 2019 and I don't find the option (Data ---> Get File ---> From File) to import a PDF file. Do I need a newer version?
Really useful. In the content list example, the section numbers in column one need to be text initially, not decimal. Acommon misconception as 2.9 needs to precede 2.10 so 2.1 to 2.9 need to become 2.01, 2.02 etc.
20 years ago I worked for a company that provided our sales and commission on pdf. I actually used a combination of text and value functions to make the data work in Excel. I was then able to massage what I had to better understand what I was selling.

Hi Leila, these are great! How about if it's a scan pdf file i.e the table is not generated directly from the original document? I tried it didn't work. Do you have any idea please?
Thank you for the video! My debt to you is growing. Particularly like the part where you clarified how you can combine multiple tables so you just have to do one query transform like you would look to do in combining multiple Excel files. Was running separate queries :/
Seems so easy when you do it! It took me some rewatches to be able to do it on my data set at work. At home, my excel seems to be a version that it is not able to get data from PDF files. Do you know since what version is excel capable of getting data from pdfs?

All these time i have seen this option only in PowerBI until you show this..This is awsome❤
Dear Ms. Leila
Thank you for your practical tips and educational videos.
All the very best to you in 2022.
You are a life saver MS. EXCEL. YOU rock😁😁😁
This is so good and useful. I find myself exporting PDF to Excel frequently - and almost always a mess with a ton of refinement work required. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Which version office support get data option?
This is amazing! Incredibly helpful! Thank you!
This was exactly what I was looking for! You’re the best!
Happy to help!
Bountiful thanks for making this video; it unshackled me from the burden of PDF-to-Excel conversion.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks a lot Leila. You're so kind and great for helping us to gain additional information...more power...
Thanks so much for sharing helpful and important information. I'm using Excel 2019 and I don't find the option (Data ---> Get File ---> From File) to import a PDF file.
Do I need a newer version?
Very grateful for all your videos, fantastic work, looking forward to more
So nice of you, Peter.
Great!. The best and the most informative and comprehensive tutorial about pdf to Excel.
Glad you think so!
thank you Leila for suggesting using Power Query to import from pdf..... I never would have thought of it....great advise..thank you.
Prasanna
Glad you like it!
Thank you for your videos. It is really a life and time saver.
Really useful.
In the content list example, the section numbers in column one need to be text initially, not decimal. Acommon misconception as 2.9 needs to precede 2.10 so 2.1 to 2.9 need to become 2.01, 2.02 etc.
What version of Office Excel to able convert PDF file to Excel? Mine is 2013 and does not have that option of GET DATA - From File -From PDF.
Hello Madam,
Greetings!
I am not getting PDF file option in Get data of Excel ( 2019), possible to add this option?
Did find exactly what I needed for combining multiple pdf tables into one, thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
@@LeilaGharani Who knew it was the folder you had to Right-Click on for this, thanks again, great tip
20 years ago I worked for a company that provided our sales and commission on pdf. I actually used a combination of text and value functions to make the data work in Excel. I was then able to massage what I had to better understand what I was selling.
PDF = "Perfectly Demonstrated Feature" by Leila! 😁Yet another video with just the right examples and enough duration to get across the point! Especially liked the feature of appending tables by selecting the top folder in Navigator! Didn't knew that! Thanks! 😊👍
Hi Leila, these are great! How about if it's a scan pdf file i.e the table is not generated directly from the original document? I tried it didn't work. Do you have any idea please?
So _that's_ how you pull multiple tables from a single PDF at once: thank you!
Which version of Excel we need ? Thanks, your videoS are all very informative
Thank you for the video! My debt to you is growing. Particularly like the part where you clarified how you can combine multiple tables so you just have to do one query transform like you would look to do in combining multiple Excel files. Was running separate queries :/
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, I often get duplicates in my pdf files which I really would like a better way to remove, do you have a video which includes that?
Thank you so much for the video! Does it work in Excel 2021 as well?
Thanks for excellent information
What to do if some data is also in the page other than the table? please mention
It's amazing how Excel 365 is becoming more powerful all the time at a reasonable price.
This presentation simplified Power Query. I love it. Thanks so much, Leila.
You're so welcome!
To copy a table from pdf, I usually select the table, right click on it, and choose 'Copy With Formatting' option.
Love your passion for Excel. Good stuff, Leila.
Thank you!
Seems so easy when you do it! It took me some rewatches to be able to do it on my data set at work. At home, my excel seems to be a version that it is not able to get data from PDF files. Do you know since what version is excel capable of getting data from pdfs?
Hi Leila, passed gratitude for the power app videos you are posting. However, just wondering if you can help me with some difficulty of converting scanned pdf file into excel through power query.
