It's the conflict between seeing a place so spotlessly clean vs not seeing anyone at all. It's also those types of scenes that was supposed to be background for something in the middle (imagine Lego advertisements photos, but now you take out the models and just the background). Your brain subconsciously telling you something is supposed to be here but you're not seeing anything.
It's crazy what a little color grading and camera blur can do. It's not realistic in terms of eyesight, but looks very close to a body cam or low end handheld cam. In fact, the graphics are pretty simplistic with notable, common flaws in 3D rendering, but you can't really see the flaw without looking really close at stills due to the camera effects. Also smart because it lets the developer of the level have a lot more time to just craft the level design without having to worry an extreme amount about lighting, ambient occlusion, model detail, and texture detail which has to be much higher quality to be convincing in something like a regular HD or UHD movie or game.
@@Floodsye That's why now people have this craze about "Old games good, new games bad" mentality. Old games were good because the graphics weren't realistic, so the brain automatically give it a pass.
I've had dreams about a pool identical to the one with the spiral staircase. I have a fascination for liminal spaces. I used to work at an airport and I loved being there at night as it went from filled with people to feeling a bit alien and creepy but oddly comforting
I know I had a dream about a pool that seemed to stretch on for all infinity that was under a house and you had to go down a spiral staircase to get to. This was probably around 2016 or so, so I think it’s before this trend really caught on.
A liminal space might be possible in real life or also sometimes refered to as a "glitch" in The Matrix noclipping is some kind of "glitch" or teleportation that let's you access certain levels connected to the backrooms which is also connected to series of liminal spaces.
As a child I have always loved places that have a sanitary and modern aesthetic, be it an office space, children’s hospital or even school after hours. I grew up poor and whenever I visited areas like this I always felt awe, and I knew that I wouldn’t have time to explore them or soak it all in so it made me cherish them more. Does anybody feel the same way?

I keep thinking about the guys who built this place. The plumbers all got lost trying to install thousands of miles of piping for all those pools. The tilers all went went insane. The humanity.

The combination of quiet and this music makes me feel like I'm alone at pocket dimension and all the people around me are just decorations. Thank you so much for this fabulous ambient and for providing such an amazing experience!
It is pretty cool! It’s just something for you to leave reality for a while and be in a liminal space for a while. Unsettling but somehow relaxing at the same time
I love everything about this, including the flashlight clicking noises and the footsteps and the water. The ambient music feels like sunlight on my face, a safe space, nothing around to hurt me.
Be careful about playing the game on Steam Dreamcore keeps crashing in specific areas causing me to somehow have to reinstall my graphics driver it might be some type of unknown bug. The game is literally out dated and I don't think the developers have intensions of fixing any bugs I think the whole game has been abandoned because of how expensive it is to build a simulation of liminal spaces inside a computer game.
Some game developer should make a VR like this, but instead of pools, make it a never-ending mall. even if you couldn't go in all the stores, just going up and down endless escalators and storefronts would be pretty cool.
Why does this feel so nostalgic?! 😯 It feels like I've been in the pool rooms before, but it feels like it was BEFORE I was born! Like I was stuck in a kind of "limbo" or a dream world before I came into this world. Does anyone else feel the same?
I feel an incredible sense of tranquility and freedom when i think about the poolrooms. I love water and the sounds of water. Being stuck in poolrooms for me feels like an escape from all that causes me stress and anxiety, the responsibilities…I’d love for it to be my reality
I think your intuition tells you that some kind of evil is at the origin of this place, because the subconscious mind does not find an acceptable reason for building a structure with such a look: tiles everywhere, no windows, no decorations, no amenities, it is not attractive to people, a businessman is not will do this to make a profit, a rich man will not build to please his guests, a crazy person will not do this, because crazy people cannot acquire so much wealth. WHAT ARE THE ORIGINS? WHO? Something is wrong here. Total unknown also makes people anxious
I usually have dreams of weird, magical, dangerous, curious spaces such as this. Sometimes I fear when I die I will be stuck in one of this spaces...wondering aimlessly for all eternity
So awesome. I love the music and the footage. I find the pool rooms so fascinating, and calming. I'm unsure why. Were I a billionaire I'd probably build my own to try to get lost in

I find it especially fascinating when he covers The Poolrooms as it is also my favorite Backrooms level. I really feel that we have the exact same understanding for the concept of Poolrooms, just peace, no monsters, basically paradise (he mentioned it on his gaming channel) and this music is really fitting for that concept, it really immerses you more than anything else. This is exactly what The Poolrooms would sound like, if it had music playing at some point this is what you would hear. I'd love to study this topic one day. Originally they were based on liminal space, places that feel empty, unnatural, transient; dreamlike visuals and a sense of unreality- like where you are can’t exist, and yet it does- overtime it developed into more a complex concept shared amongst a community, but the origin is the same dreamy, empty halls. I’d say the sense of infinity and open space plus a significant role in any backroom-esc concept; and the horror presents itself most clearly when there’s *nothing* to be found. Just halls that you’ll never see the end of.
The lore is that it's some sort of a trap dimension or a set of trap dimensions, after a failed sci-fi experiment to create an unlimited storage space of sorts. It functions as a set of online 'urban' legends that is being expanded on by the community.
This is at the abandoned Paddington Mall. This was part of a spa for rich people back in the mid 1980s. I helped install the tile there in 1982. I got paid $5.25 per hour under the table which was big money for the time. The tiles came in rolls and were in 5 ft wide sheets. You installed it similar to linoleum. Once layed out on the glue you would let it sit, then just fill it with grout like regular tile. I think this place shut down back in 1995. I had no idea it was still standing!

So you feel nostalgia with this video, some of my dreams is me in a beach and the waves in slow motion, with music like in this video, every time I remember those dreams I feel nostalgia.
Apart from the horror aspects the creepiness and feeling of impending doom around every corner, I find this very relaxing. In my wildest dreams I could have my own poolrooms and I could come and go as I please. I use this video to help me to go to sleep, I love it so much.
Lately I've been having reoccurring pool room dreams, although they're more like shower rooms. The last couple ones I had were pretty vivid. I think my brain made them up based on the gym that I go to, like the shower part of the locker room but much bigger and mysterious. My gym also has a pool which I've been in a couple times when no one else was there, just me with the pool area all to myself and I think my brain bases these dreams off of that too. In my dreams I'm always walking through a really mysterious and wondrous pool or shower area and I always have this intense feeling like "wow, I can't believe I have this all to myself." Like a strong feeling of wonder and excitement.
I love the poolrooms, in general the backrooms aren't scary to me but instead very soothing. I had a cool dream that mainly consisted of the poolrooms.
Everything is so sanitized and clean... I wonder who keeps all the pools chlorinated and free from debris? And who mops all the floors, cleans all the handrails, and waters all the plants... and then who's paying the light bill and replacing the lights when they go out?
Dream or nightmare? I must say, a brilliant format this combination of ambient electronica and crafted level exploration. what do we call it? First person dreamwave?
Seeing renditions of Jared Pikes Dream Pools in game form is ✨amazing✨! It’s like going to a virtual art gallery and the music suits this liminal aesthetic so well ❤

Thank you greatly for this video. Just tomorrow, i have an exam, and I was panicking because I couldn't study properly. I am a person with both poor time management and attention span, and I kept on getting distracted while studying. I assure you that this video specifically has immensely helped me to focus on the task at hand and it even makes me feel better because, after even half an hour, I would usually look at the progress bar on the video. It brings me so much comfort to see that I have covered only a moment of the video. Basically, the video is acting as my timer, or clock. I am eternally greatful for how much you have helped me. Thank you. Sorry for bad english.
Might sound strange, but the pool rooms (and some of the backrooms) remind me of Portal a bit. A lot of Portal levels had a bit of a backrooms feel to them.
poolrooms don't give me strong anxiety actually. Instead its sort of a surreal and eerie nostalgia. Its like the uncanny valley of peacefulness though, the surrealness is just enough that its not relaxing, but not afraid or stressed either.
Was recently introduced to liminal spaces through my recommendation on UA-cam, and came across this video and gave it a watch. As I kept watching I felt really weird as If I was in a meditative state really focus and drowsy at the same time. I only was able to get only 10 minutes in before I fell asleep. It was a very interesting experience and got me wanting to watch more Liminal space content lol
Relaxed is the exact opposite of what I feel watching this video. It creeps me out, makes me feel like I'm in a scary movie or something is following closely.
This reminds me of a spa I went to in Japan over 60 years ago. Each bath had different medicinal properties and had powerful smells which I remember to this day.
To me the most uncanny part of this is that spiral staircase up from inside the pool. When I was little I kept having this recurring dream of swimming down a set of spiral stairs into like a massive set of pools, because my teddy bear had sunk to the bottom and I needed to get him.
The first songs is amazing. Just the eerie electronic drone. Reminds me of childhood, long hot summers playing N64. Probably the resemblance to the music of Hazy Maze Cave. I could happily listen to the vibe first 4 minutes stretched out for four hours.
I can only imagine this is the experience a snake has whilst venturing through the plumbing below your toilet. The spiral staircase into a blank, bland room with water covering the bottom & every room covered in the same bland tiles.
This is super relaxing! I love it and the footage of the Backrooms. Honestly I think this level is relaxing if you are in the right place. There are still entities there but just usually in dark areas. But you seem to be in a version without any. Anyway have a great day love this video
hey! it's an honour that you played me! your songs were a strong inspiration to create Dreamcore 💙

Good to see this mix reuploaded. I'm glad you didn't get completely nuked by UA-cam, keep uploading my guy.
WOW!!! HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU DO THIS FIRST-PERSON POOL ROOM SEQUENCE??? IT'S F*CKIN' WILD! ^..^
Blender/Max/Maya, or UE5/Unity
Dreamcore, a game made in UE5
I love the poolrooms, in general the backrooms aren't scary to me but instead very soothing. I had a cool dream that mainly consisted of the poolrooms.
This is what known as the alternative space between time and the reality.
Nah, it's bigass poolrooms

Really freaky really great
@@あゆんちょ-g5pit will all be ok 😊
I don't know why but I love this!
A great work. Sadly, for me it's a kind of nightmare😢.
Super nightmarish
Everything is so sanitized and clean... I wonder who keeps all the pools chlorinated and free from debris? And who mops all the floors, cleans all the handrails, and waters all the plants... and then who's paying the light bill and replacing the lights when they go out?
It closes on Sundays
It's in another universe. Invisible entitites (spirits) pray there. The building is as large as an entire planet.

I enjoyed the exploration with the dreamscape music
Dream or nightmare? I must say, a brilliant format this combination of ambient electronica and crafted level exploration. what do we call it? First person dreamwave?
Who makes sure the water stays PH balanced & chlorinated forever?
That monster thing
Smilers
That is terrifying
Demons
Seeing renditions of Jared Pikes Dream Pools in game form is ✨amazing✨! It’s like going to a virtual art gallery and the music suits this liminal aesthetic so well ❤
Fell asleep to this really quick. And I dreamt about dreamcore/weird core it was such a bizzare experience because I was in my house and it kept switching from reality to the dreamcore world
Now my nights sleep will be pleasant
same!
Don't lie
I loved the structures !!!
“All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.”
"Dreams are messages from the deep."
Edgar Allen Poe. Good one. Quite the brilliant man.
Thank you very much for this. And also, thanks for making it usable on UA-cam. I really appreciate that
Such a good mix and music dude. Especially Cure, it's a punch in the gut for me, in a good but lonely way.
These tracks (and videos) are seriously helping me make my own Poolrooms in my Minecraft server.
Es ist echt unheimlich 😮
Просто создатель этого видоса визуализировал мою фобию. Вода, стерильно белое помещение, вокруг ни души, тоннели ведущие в бесконечность...
This is simply perfect
Nice mix to hear in my birthday
Happy birthday
happy birthday! it was my birthday too how funny
@keshavrao4969 WoW happy birthday, pal 💪🏼😎
@@Doodoodshid thx buddy
Finally, someone having an actual motion visual with with the music
Now i'm IN it
Cool ambient. Imagine walking there alone for real...
with no entities there and a homing beacon to find my way out, i'd love to
No worries except for that pesky hydrolitis plague baked into the lore. I'd chance it!
So I´m not the only one who has *that* kind of dreams? Cool!
Might sound strange, but the pool rooms (and some of the backrooms) remind me of Portal a bit. A lot of Portal levels had a bit of a backrooms feel to them.
That's the point
Tysm for doing this video! 🩵🏝️
The player's paranoia was making me anxious as hell! Is there something that eventually chases you in this game?
nope
Nah, this game is for compete wusses
love this frequency
This is one of the best things I've ever seen.
Superb tile work
As a lover of The Backrooms this is a masterpiece
Alguien más no tiene esa sensación de tranquilidad, soledad misterio y de querer explorar detalle a detalle los Poolrooms?!
poolrooms don't give me strong anxiety actually.
2:38:50 this part gave me chills 😨 anyways i love this smm its so relaxing
Relaxed is the exact opposite of what I feel watching this video. It creeps me out, makes me feel like I'm in a scary movie or something is following closely.
I'm saying the same the same thing. Actually using it for horror stories.
Noclip me in this type of Poolrooms with a few floats or a scuba diving gear, minus the deadly creatures, and I'm set for life. Love PoolRooms!
This reminds me of a spa I went to in Japan over 60 years ago. Each bath had different medicinal properties and had powerful smells which I remember to this day.
Very impressed by the million visits. Happy that the most influential ambient poolroom musician has reached the million mark with our game 💙
To me the most uncanny part of this is that spiral staircase up from inside the pool. When I was little I kept having this recurring dream of swimming down a set of spiral stairs into like a massive set of pools, because my teddy bear had sunk to the bottom and I needed to get him.
Woah
The first songs is amazing. Just the eerie electronic drone. Reminds me of childhood, long hot summers playing N64. Probably the resemblance to the music of Hazy Maze Cave. I could happily listen to the vibe first 4 minutes stretched out for four hours.
I can only imagine this is the experience a snake has whilst venturing through the plumbing below your toilet. The spiral staircase into a blank, bland room with water covering the bottom & every room covered in the same bland tiles.
The true horror would be wading through one of the hundreds of pools in here and seeing a random turd floating next to you
なにこの独特な世界観。最高すぎる!
Omg the animation is cool :)
Thank you
I’m studying for my CPO and this is the perfect ambience for me
This is super relaxing! I love it and the footage of the Backrooms. Honestly I think this level is relaxing if you are in the right place. There are still entities there but just usually in dark areas. But you seem to be in a version without any. Anyway have a great day love this video
The poolrooms .... is scared and calm at same time ... but in real life this tipe of place make me crazy
good ambient music bro! ❤
