What a difference and peaceful discussion between Rajiv Kumar and Dr. Montek Singh! Rajiv Kumar is currently occupying the same position as Dr. Montek Singh, but Rajiv was talking like a politician and Montek Singh is talking like an economist. Civilised debate.
Nice educated discussion. Thanks. This kind of discussion is needed for a common citizen to understand and appreciate the Government workings. Should be shown in schools at least at 12 level and ofcourse college level, so kids really study properly and try to learn the subject properly.

I think after our Hon'ble VP Hamid Ansari's interview this is my latest favorite one. I just noticed, both Mr. Ansari and Mr. Ahluwalia have so much of information to give you can't miss even a second of the video or you'll end up missing a bigger part.
I have heard Mr Thapar asking many times about increase in filing IT returns without getting full answers. My take on this question is (1) IT Return limit being same @ Rs 2.5 lakhs no. of people filing Return will go up with inflation at constant rate every year. (2) Earlier women were having Return filing limit at 3.0 lakh which became 2.5. (3) Before demonetisation but during Mr Rajan's time last year banks were asked to not accept Form 15 G without PAN. This got reflected in 26 AS. Earlier even working ladies were giving Form 15 G for FDs, as house wives. (4 ) Men were investing in shares / trading in the names of their wives and making money without filing any returns. Such measures by Mr Rajan / Mr P Chidambaram have started showing results.

1) Centralization of economic power with least employees to increase productivity is the aim of capitalism & stock market. 2) This has been achieved through IITs & Technological Universities through machines, computers, software, mobiles, robotics & satellites 3) No decrease in animal & human power means no technological advancement. So employment will definitely decrease with technology. . 4) Replacement of natural products, animal & human power with modified artificial products, electricity, petroleum & other fossil fuels is the business what industries do. 5) So this is development. 6) One interesting thing is that the press is expressing the opinions of its big shareholders rather common people.

A 15% rate is practical I think because a chappal which costs around 250 would attract a tax of 37.5 whereas a Mercedes Benz E-class whose on road price is 50,00,000 would attract a tax of 750000. A chappal doesn't cost similar to a Mercedes Benz so it would be insane to assume equality won't be assured as the principal increases.
Apply the same principle to income-tax as well. Put a Basic Exemption Limit of Rs. 10 lakhs, and everybody pays a flat tax of 25% on income above Rs. 10 lakhs.

Also I think all State governments who forecast a surplus in their initial budget and at end of it spends all of it should be penalized and the centre government should also be held accountable for the excess spending by altering the GST percentages for a state who doesn't acquire projected surplus.
