Yeah, I’m pretty sure that Corrin might be one of the best emblems for a Cannoneer to run. The only other options I could think of that could also be very strong are Lucina for super long distance chain attacks, but that forgoes the higher % activation of bonded shield that other classes have, or Tiki. With Tiki, you’d lose access to the cannons while engaged I think, but would gain her engage weapons on those turns which are pretty powerful (especially the breath, which freezes all enemies it hits on Armored units), and you’d also gain +10 luck (+15 if engaged) so inheriting Divine Pulse would massive boost hit rates
This is a great way to use it. Another way I’ve thought of and seen online is using the class with the Edelgard ring to take advantage of the gambits, specifically flame. Great build and video dude!
Edelgard also gives Strength and Dexterity as a Skill as well as on ring, this helps patch up the shaky damage/hit rates somewhat Only issue is that the ring keeps changing which means you may not reliably get Flame Gambit when you need
So I've come up with a similar thing. I have Madeline on the Mage Cannon with Chrom as my engage to get the +str +dex normally and when I want to do more damage the engage gives me a sure chain attack so with that alone I get better than decent chip damage and sure debuff. I've also stuck +hit on him and can reliably hit on weaknesses for very respectable damage. I see high teens to low 20's on any given attack with never less than 90+ hit before I pop engage. I run big blast, eldritch, holy and tornado covers almost all bases for an effective hit somewhere. Obviously the hex is the sure debuff but feel like I should mention that so ppl are aware
I know this is very late but a fun build I found for this class is Alfred since he has high growth rates in Str, Dex, and Luck which all affect the damage and hit rate. Then paired him with Lucina for more Dex and Luck but more importantly giving myself a backup unit that can chain attack from crazy ranges. I did go with Luck +12 and +Divine Pulse to accurately 3 stack poison those extra bulky enemies.
I didn’t really understand what the mage cannoneer was supposed to do, but having it act as a debuff bot sounded like a useful addition. Corrin defo seems like the best emblem for a cannoneer then. Still think it’s a disappointing class and debuff kinda loses usefulness on lower difficulties as your units start one-rounding anyway.
One of the best units for this class is Boucheron as with his Spd and Dex he will be able to double and hit reliably as he has one of the best dexs growths in the game and he's got the best build growth too, it also means you don't have to worry too much about his strength
This seems fun, I personally went with a hybrid Louis build. Inherited D hex and Reprisal, alongside Roy's Emblem for free Holdout+++. The extra sync Attk stat and bonus HP when engaged help boosting Reprisal DMG a good amount. Wyrms are neutralized so easily with it, with little to no risk at all, then you can either dance to finish it up or give the kill to another unit after you apply the debuff. Also, with Let Fly, you get a full Reprisal blow guaranteed on any boss and apply D hex all at once.
I like the holdout reprisal combo but I don't think I would personally put it on my debuffer. Just would make more sense to me to seperate those two parts into two different builds.
@@minnuette2970 Yeah, it's not exactly the most logical build, but it's still quite efficient. I do prefer my debuffer Sage Jade better tho: Byleth's Engage range, Thoron/Bolganone and Draconic H. + Anima Focus is quite comfy tbh. What would you recommend for a Cannoneer debuffer tho?
I did something very similar but did it with Anna. *she looks great as a mage cannon. I used Tiki for the extra luck, and found the icebreath from dragon form for area control to be really useful. That combined with Divine Pulse (with her luck stat procs pretty much all the time) and dragonic hex, you have a character that can debuff from range with great hit rates, and tank upclose with area control from ice breath. Nice video btw.
You can inherit draconic hex and dreadful aura is kind of redundant because you can just use freeze blast. It's basically a support class. I like seeing all your "locked in builds" though because they're pretty wildly different than what I have run in my playthrus. Nice to see. Zelkov Halberdier? Yea I definitely haven't run that yet. Veronica on Alear as high priest seems like a waste on a bunch of different levels.
I know I’m late but I want to know If you complete the fell xenolegue you unlock the class for every other run or I have to finish it again in every new run to get the item?
Personally I think you’re wasting Corrins magic stat buff, yeah yunaka can use corrin for the obvious fog, but I personally put it on zelestia with sword power and speed taker. She has decent magic and strength stats but with sword power levin sword, she can use corrins swords effectively with the added sword power boost too!
@@felixma9192 No. Dragon might be beneficial, but everything has Dragon boosts and the choice of dragon vein isn't worth it when earth and fog are clearly so far above the rest. Never do Mystical. IIRC Mystical is Fire, Fire is just a worse version of earth, but slow the enemy but one does a super small amount of damage to enemy and ally, where as the other increases defenses making enemy phasing a lot better. In a game that is so heavily about enemy phasing.

Made Jade my mage cannon. wanted to use her but already had a general on the team. Felt like it fit.
I’m using Panette/Corrin as a Mage Cannoneer rn with Luck+ and Divine Pulse and she literally never misses it’s so funny

Oh~ That's actually an idea
Oh yeah, gambits could be NASTY with this God damn.

Great content as always, dude. I wasn't sure about the DLC classes at a glance but this definitely looks to have some fun potential!

Oh yeah, on lower difficulties this becomes significantly less useful. But on Maddening it's QUITE nice.

I was thinking the same for my next gameplay. Poor Boucheron, with his weird stats but I think he'd shine with this class. 😁

So basically let yourself get hit hard to proc Holdout, then just bombs away... That's quite sick.

boucheron was a rock solid pick. use keen insight and hit plus 15/20/30. it worked far better than expected

Boucheron as Mage Cannoneer since he has the highest dex growth.
What is the song called that starts around 4:18?
It's the Four Hounds theme.

I love builds like this, they're an absolute joy to play.
Gonna try corrin on my panette.
Better to use Byleth on them and then inherit the Corrin skill you like. Corrin is better used on a backup.
Can't inherit dreadful aura
on a mystical, thief or dragon you mean?
