Bendtner was one of the most naturally talented strikers we've had in Denmark since the turn of the century. He was actually quite good at the national team and the fact that Juventus, Werder Bremen and Arsenal had him on their books is a testament to that. Had he not been so reckless and big mouthed, his career would have been far greater. It is too easy just to look at the scandals and not remember the genuine hype there was around him, justifiably so.
It shows that his troubles affected his natural talent
Im an arsenal fan through and through, take it from me.. he was awful, technically terrible, no pace, couldn’t finish, always looked disinterested, most of the goals he got were scrappy goals. he literally stole a living

As a Rosenborg fan I enjoyed having him at our club even though it was really weird for us having a player that is essentially bigger than the club at least in reputation. To me (and to those I've heard from around the club) all said he was a nice guy that was simply shaped by having had so much attention his whole career but that he fit in well. He also did really well in his first season and created some spectacular moments that I'll remember for a long time. Our plan when we signed him was to get him performing at a level where he would be called up to the national team, play in the WC and sell him for lots of money. That plan was soooo close to being realized, but we and him got unlucky with the injury.
Yeah, i think the injury before the WC destroyed him a bit. The first season at RBK he was amazing, I still remember his preformance against Ajax, and the goal vs Molde.. insane. But after the injury he just didnt seem interessted anymore, I think he gave up on football after that.
In 2017 Bendtner signed for my club Rosenborg and became topscorer with 19 goals his first season. Will be remembered as a legend and a lord of course.
Fun fact: Bendtner has more goals then Rashford in the same number of matches played in PL 🤭

Almost nobody can be like Messi or Ronaldo because those are top 0.1% world class talents, but there's no shame at all in being at the level of a Lewandowski, or a Zlatan (or many others who were really top players but never quite the best of their age).

I always think the same of Ronaldinho, although he did leave a greater mark, he had his fair share of scandals and was reckless, but dude won the world cup, champions league, la liga, ballon d'or etc... All in his early to mid 20's! What would've been the point for Dinho to keep pushing after that like Messi or C. Ronaldo did? As for Bendtner he probably knew he would never be that good so he trolled everyone and enjoyed it

Fun video! In Denmark our speeding tickets are not a percentage of our income, it's a value predetermined by your speed. Bendtner was stopped in Norway, where the ticket is a percentage of your yearly wage. Everything else is pretty much on point. I love that you end the video with "I'd say it's a waste, but I'm not sure anymore". That's pretty much how we feel about him in Denmark, too.
Fun fact: I was once held a gun point by Bendtner's personal jeweler. Years later I talked to him, at he told me about this one time when Bendtner was "injured" and could not play with the Denmark national team, yet he was in Vegas partying all week with said jeweler.

He then demanded to get the pizzas for free. And when they told him that he had to pay or he wouldn't get anything then he arrogantly replied with "You don't know who I am? I can buy your whole shop". While the guy behind the counter was like "Yeah yeah good on you, get out of here". But Lord kept arguing and asked people in the pizza shop to pay for him. Then eventually there were two young girls that ended up paying for his food just so he could shut up and leave the place. I think there's a video of the incident as well lol

That said, the statement that speeding or crossing a red line (7:34) gives a fine that's a percentage of income in Denmark is wrong (don't remember the punishment for driving the wrong way). Driving under the influence, on the other hand, will land you a fine of your blood alcohol level (per thousand) times your monthly salary.
