Had mine apart half a dozen times. New generator. Still had a dull light. I had to be missing something. Watched your vid. Thing came to life. Matched the briteness of my other one. Thanks
Is this the same for the SMP Mil Spec lantern as well??? I don't have a Coleman Mil Spec 252 only the SMP 1981 date. Didn't know that the fuel pick up tube came apart. Thanks for the info. Now I've got to take my SMP Mil Spec apart and redo the fuel pick up tube. Maybe that's why it quit working. W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee
I subbed to your channel and I enjoyed the video. Figured I’d follow you over here as well 👍🏻 I’m sure alot of people, especially those who might look for information here on YT first, don’t know how long and how many of these you’ve gone through over the years. Your information and knowledge on the CCF was really helpful when I went through my first 252a a few years ago. Thanks for the video brother and keep rolling them out!
Hey there! Long time no chat! Thanks so much for the kind words! I was recently asked how many of theses lanterns I've worked on.... Probably several hundred easily. Just trying to share what I've learned to help others. I've got some great ones coming out soon. Have a " basket case" millspec that's going to be a great video series.
Thanks for the great video. I’m chasing down a dim light. The outer tube on my pickup (SMP) is cracked lengthwise. Is this normal or a problem with my lantern?
I've been restoring a 1944. The problem I'm having is the same on both valve assemblies. When the valve is shut off completely, it still leaks air. I don't believe this would be correct. I believe the valve off should cut off air or fuel. What can be the problem? I would add a pic but it won't let me add one.

Very useful info. Been working on lanterns forever but just started on a Coleman mil spec. Thanks for sharing!
I just got an SMP one. I'm going to start the rebuild here soon. Good video!

Hey Kelly. Do you have a milspec teardown/ rebuild video?
Yes I do. It’s on a Armstrong millspec lantern

How is the quality of Thermos military lantern compared to Coleman military lantern?
When you say you “cook” it what are you doing?
That’s “ clock “ . Meaning where the valve stem is in relation to position on the fount.
