I keep a swatch book and color combinations and other items I find useful but I never thought to include a section for palettes great idea glad I watched this again
Thanks for the swatchbook tips. I especially like to combination colours idea, simple but extremly useful. I only have 3 sets of pencils and one set of acrylic and one water colour paints so I keep my swatches with them but now see the benefit of keeping them together in one book. Hope you have a good week and look forward to your next video x
I love having a swatch book. I started mine in a smaller book but I ended up changing to a three ring binder. I like being able to remove the swatches for a certain set when using them. I like your list of prismacolor extras. I just have mine in a box. So many of my pencils are tiny, it would be nice to be able to look to make sure I have a spare before starting using that pencil. Thanks for the tip.
Amazing video as usual Gem. A few months back I purchased 3 swatch books from Coloring Bliss. I have one for pencils, one for markers and the last one is mixed media. Each book had paper designed for their specific medium. They have been a life saver for me. As a relative newbie to coloring (been a bit over a year), I find that having all my mediums swatched out makes it so much easier to find coloring combos or deciding on a palette. It’s a huge timesaver in that your not having to scribble on a spare paper to know what colors go together. It saves valuable time that you could use to color. We all need more time to color. Lol. Another reason that I enjoy swatching is that it helps me to remember color names when I get new sets. Soon as I get a new medium, I unbox it and swatch it before I ever use them and that can be really hard at times bases in my excitement.
Swatch books are a must. I like swatching colored pencils but I HATE HATE HATE doing watercolor mixing charts. So boring. I also love swatching my gel pens.
I've never really given much thought to a swatchbook. Usually I tested the new materials and all their colors that I got out on the sketchbook that I had at that moment. In the beginning that wasn't that big of a thing as I Usually had them close by anyway. But now that I'm on my 9th sketchbook it's highly irritating to not have it all in one place. So thank you for these great ideas! I'm gonna start at it right away.
Yay! I went through a bit of the same thing. It does take a lot of time to set up and can be repetitive (especially if you have a lot of mediums!) but I've found it's saved me time in the long run when selecting colours for pieces.
I started a Swatch book but need to keep it up to date. I especially liked your idea of cataloguing pencils it might make me stop buying Light Aqua Prismas must have at least 4 lol!
Thank you, I need to start a swatchbook! I've been collecting pens pencils and paints for ages but they stay in the packet / box, this may be the motivation that I need.
The process of swatching out a new supply is often enough to get me motivated to use it - I highly recommend it. Inspiration can come form the oddest tasks...
Magnificent organization 👏👏👏
What a fantastic idea! Thanks for sharing and I do love your book, it is beautiful!
