I guess it's one of the bugs in private room, maybe reloading didn't work cuz of unlimited ammo. For example, if u have shotgun with legendary long barrel in private room with unlimited ammo then u can reload ur shotgun but when u slide it won't return bullet cuz game thinks u don't have ammo
I know about switching guns all time... I have also faced that many times... Thats a glitch in private lobbies where we cannot reload our gun... The only option is to change the gun...

Bcoz the room owner has changed the setting and the gun was not reloading
Sometimes in custom rooms it stops you from reloading. So he had no choice
