David Stovell A pleasure David and I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to watch. Wishing you and your family a blessed week ahead my man ~Peace~
Pure genius. Not only have i seen how to keep my Skorp in tip top condition, I'll be changing the way I sharpen my knives in future, Thanks again Zed & Lee. . . keep the info coming, even this old dog can learn new tricks : ))
Latton Bushcraft That 'old dog' has taught me a ton of stuff i'll never forget :) I'll bring my kit next time we meet LB so we can have a play around with it ~Peace~
Fascinating video on looking after knives, carving and otherwise really. I'm very familiar with using wet and dry papers since I was a vehicle body sprayer, now a long time ago. Most enjoyable to watch and hopefully learn from. Cheers and take care...
Another tremendous video Zed. Knowledge is the bread for the brain and we can never get full. Thanks again. Your video's are always original and very informative. I am hoping to film my first UA-cam one this weekend now that I have a camera.
Awesome vid... Its really cool to see a youtuber learn from the start to finish if you know what I mean. You make some of your vid quite funny (laughing) which is cool and makes people more engaged
***** A pleasure my friend and am grateful for Lee to have taken time out to record this video with me. Btw I only just noticed that im not subscribed to your channel, have just subbed :) ~Peace~

Hello you southern homesteader. Hopefully my good lady & myself will be there. Loved it last year & really want to go again. Are you going to TBS this year? Think Jacquie & myself will only be going for the day if we go at all this year. Peace out Bro.
Stokie Joe Bushcraft Unlikely i'll be going to this years TBS but all being well will definitely be at the WG as like you said twas a superb event. Will be a pleasure to meet Mrs Stokie and congratulate her on putting up with being married to you for so long :-P ~Peace~
Hi Abbas when using sharpening stones / sandpaper it is adviced to work through to the finest grit you can, and then use leather to for gthe final finish ~Peace~
the scratches you see are from lower grits that havent been fully taken out as you progress through the finer ones. It can also be that your steel isnt as good for the mirror finish. Not all steels are equal, and some dont finish as well as others.
Another nice information packed video - thanks for the upload. This makes me realise that when I saw Arnold Schwarzenegger using a rock to sharpen his sword in Conan the Barbarian he was definitely doing it all wrong.....
Useful information liking the blade but could you tell me what sort of compound used on the leather strop? And what grades or sorts of compound you can use ? Many thanks
Simon Smith Thank you for watching Simon, theres many options for compound and you can get medium / fine grits. Personally I use 'starky blue' which is a medium grit compound ~Peace~
Survival Deutschland Thank you for watching and for your kind words Stefan, this amazing knife set I got from Lee over at Covert Craft as he makes all of these by hand ~Peace~
Man i still cant sharpen my skandi grind knives. Always get a convex shape - especially with the higher grits. Kitchen knives i can get razor sharp. But these are still impossible for me
I really like your videos so forgive my suggestion... Please, use manual focus with your camera! It’s really a pity that often there in an issue about the focus, especially when you get close to a macro framing. Thank you for your work! All my best.
Thanks! This is the most
Informative video on sharpening I have ever seen!

Drone Girl Lee's a top fella so appreciate him taking the time to record this ~Peace~
Zed Outdoors It was brilliant :) Have a good day ! :)
Greta video as always. What compound do you recommend and where can I purchase? Is White better than Green Jewelers rouge? Thanks
Hi Dave the compunds all differ in terms of grit, the geenral advise is to get a medium / light grit if you are just maintaining your blades ~Peace~
Thank you thank you both, this was such good info. The round one is such a great idea. :)
ATB Louise :)
Louise Florida Isnt it just, I thought that round sharpener was a super idea too when I first saw it ~Peace~
How do you make the polishing so shiny? When I tried polishing on leather with some compound you could see some fine scratches on it...

This makes me realise that when I saw Arnold Schwarzenegger using a rock to sharpen his sword in Conan the Barbarian he was definitely doing it all wrong.....
Pondguru I reckoned if you adorned a leather thong and horned skull cap you could easily pass for a geordie conan ~Peace~
Zed Outdoors lol, if I filmed that one it would get an age rating for sure.
Useful information liking the blade but could you tell me what sort of compound used on the leather strop? And what grades or sorts of compound you can use ? Many thanks
Simon Smith Thank you for watching Simon, theres many options for compound and you can get medium / fine grits. Personally I use 'starky blue' which is a medium grit compound ~Peace~
awesome, thank you two, i really did learn something`!! where did you get your knife-set from`?
all the best
Stefan
Survival Deutschland Thank you for watching and for your kind words Stefan, this amazing knife set I got from Lee over at Covert Craft as he makes all of these by hand ~Peace~
Many many thanks
Thank you Claude ~Peace~
great vid zed and larry what kind of compound do you use ???
Henk Schutte I use a fine white compound that was supplied by Nic Westermann ~Peace~
His sandpaper, did it come in sheets then he cut it up and put double side tape on it or did it come that way?
Bruce Ferguson You can get both varieties from suppliers like 'Axminster Tools' in the UK ~Peace~
Thanks Zed.
Some useful tips there. Great vid. I use Japanese Waterstones and a leather strop for my blades. :o)
Ross Everitt Japanese waterstones is on my shopping list very soon ...once I get them i'll be part of the cool club like you ;) ~Peace~
Man i still cant sharpen my skandi grind knives. Always get a convex shape - especially with the higher grits. Kitchen knives i can get razor sharp. But these are still impossible for me
