- Plus HELLBOUND HELLRAISER II in a Christmas '88 episode.
As a reminder, if you're looking for the latest home video reviews -- from Blu-Rays of classic catalog titles to the latest releases -- be sure to check out my own review site at www.andyfilm.com
The ad for Amnesty International at the beginning of this is amazing--I'm so it's been preserved here for others to see.
I agree.
It's definitely amazing
The arrest in portugal took place during the Salazar régimen Aka estado novo.
Well, that must have been some interesting holiday season at the movie theater that year! Lol!
Thank you for posting these -along with John Baxter and Old Time TV you are making a lot of people happy!
You are quite welcome! :)
Indeed and who knows? One of those 3 channels or more could have a hard to find episode or special up there someday since there are lots of reviews that are hard to find.
@@mst3k3000 I am pretty sure I have a few episodes that I did not trade with the S&E website guys years back. As I go through my discs there may be a show or two that is "new" to the internet. Regrettably I don't have everything I taped -- I used to record the show weekly then at some point thought I didn't need the tapes anymore! Good news at least is I saved about half of them so I have a lot of shows to upload here.
@@andyfilm5785 At least it's a good sign for that one. ^^
I agree 💯!
Accidental tourist is such a classic!
Sean Young is underated She is such a beauty 😍
These guys just never "got" horror movies. It's always fun to watch them discuss them. Such prudes lol
Woods is a terrific actor, and Sean Young? 🔥
The two of them got into a real-life relationship. (Later, Woods said about it, "Does the word 'nightmare' mean anything to you?")
James woods was phenomenal when he wanted
Talk Radio is effective, one of Stone’s forgotten gems, in addition to U-Turn.
Talk Radio= Social Media in general. Love this movie.
Exactly ! People should be forced to be nice enough.Like on Air Bnb.
"Talk Radio" is still good, and chilling. You feel for Barry.
One of my favorite movies.
@@MrBoyYankeeSame here. I have the DVD.
Siskel's reaction to virtually every horror film...... "Let me bitch about the violence first."
I'm not sure that's fair or accurate. I've seen lots of reviews where Roger objected to the content where Gene did not. I've also seen video's where Gene praises the "darkness" of a given film. I think it's important to keep in mind that these guys both took films a lot more seriously than most people and they often gave thumbs down, (meaning they wouldn't recommend it) to movies most people would watch and enjoy. They think of great horror films as Halloween and Jaws where there is very little actual violence but a lot of tension with just music and mood. Just a thought :)
@@canuck_gamer3359 Yeah, overall speaking Gene is just more critical than Roger towards all movies, and tends to give a lot more thumbs down. Roger tends to go soft on movies that are targeting a specific demographic or are generally "harmless". They both object to violence more than today's average critic. They both thumbed down many cult 70s horror classics. There's nothing wrong with having a bias or particular taste, and they aren't immune to that since they're human beings. But they always let you know it.
There's precious little else of anything to highlight, good or bad, in Barker's arrested development gorefests of nothingness.
@@Dr170haw haw don’t soak your parities ma’am.
@@reginaldforthright805 And his horde of gormless ovine followers are no picnic neither.
As much as I love them both, they really didn’t appreciate horror movies. Hellraiser 2 is incredible. Don’t understand why it was released at Christmas though.
What did the think of the first hellraiser
It's always interesting to hear what others opinions are of movie characters.. I thought the Geena Davis character in The Accidental Tourist was way "sadder" ..she was more lonely and in need of companionship than either of the other two.. she just looked quirky and communicated differently
Yeah, all three characters are sad. The Turner/Hurt characters, though, just recently had to live with their son being violently murdered. Of course, Geena Davis’s character had her own struggles. I felt for all three, really, but I swear, I wish I had a Geena Davis character in my life. I got out of an 8-year relationship and I swear I don’t know how to take care of myself anymore either.
Talk Radio's end credits music is legendary, performed by The Penguin Cafe Orchestra -"telephone & rubber band" later it was sampled in a song "in the meantime" by Spacehog. look up both songs !
No shit,I always dug that song by spacehog
Talk Radio. I believe that the ending is based on the murder of Alan Berg (spoiler alert).
Roger sort of throws it back at Gene "okay give me an example of a better addicted to cocaine movie" and he flat lines cuz there is none. And you *knew* it would be predictable because it's set up in the first few minutes when his buddy is using coke and then Woods is given all this money and opportunity. You know he's going to fall into the shit hole and Woods just puts on a master class of manic paranoia.
Talk Radio still one of the best examples of the final days in the life of a self-destructive, self-loathing character. And one of the best shots of all time is that gimbal / swivel / whatever the hell it was when Barry is melting down on the air at the end. Such a great piece of cinematography.
I’d say the man who laughs is better
James Woods actually sued a guy who commented online that he was a cokehead. It's funny to see him actually play one. Ever seen Woods interviewed? With the ever-manic energy he presents, one could be forgiven for guessing he was on stimulants. 😳
He does have that manic, coked up persona.
You know that Woody Allen joke about a stroke causing extreme conservatism. Well, I think James Woods probably had several of them in his prime days from using coke and ended up his current state.
James Woods used to be one of my favorite actors but I feels over the years all those slimy characters he played melded with his persona now. Sad so very sad he became a cartoon character.
Oh a piece of candy. 🍬
@@MrBoyYankee Yeah, he has a creepy vibe. Still love Videodrome though.
@@micheller6804 Death to Videodrome! Long live The New flesh!
CIVIC TV.
Tom Bergeron started as a newscaster? I didn’t know.
Pelle the Conquerer is also a good movie.
I saw The Boost last night and Roger Ebert's praise of the film was on point. Yet on the other hand, Woods' character forever remained a mystery to me. I did feel for him when he was reduced to being a nearly vacant shell but his character was never really developed. From the beginning, it's obvious that Woods was bipolar and the film never really addresses that.
Did Ebert like Hellraiser? I couldn't tell what he thought about the movie from his review.
He and Siskel both hated the film because of the gore and violence.
HELLRAISER franchise burn itself out very quickly. I hope they never reboot it . I don't want to see Pinhead again.
I thought he made it clear that he didn't like it.
He said recapping the film it was one of the worst movies of the year
@@errolbourgeois8230haw haw take your meds madame
Wow. Hollywood has sure come a long way hasn’t it! Hahhahaha
backwards, yeah
Well I’m sure most people in Hollywood are still liberals who support the likes of Amnesty, what’s changed is you’re now a poor fool who believes insane right wing conspiracy theories.
Hellova Amnesty commercial prior.
Hellraiser:2 they got wrong. Dr Chaunard became apart of leviathan due to unrequited love. Tragic
I think he was tricked. He spent his life trying to unlock the mystery of the Lament Configuration (the puzzle box) and wanted desperately to know what was on the other side. Julia promised him the answers to all his questions when all she really wanted was one more minion for Leviathan. And when Leviathan thought He was in danger, He cut Channard loose....dropped him like a hot potato. Least that's how I saw it.
Keif!!!!!!!
Oh man they really have no understanding of Hellraiser at all and its a bit painful. "If you open the box the wrong way it sends you to hell." No.....its if you open it the *right* way. These people were looking for hell but didn't realize what it really was until they found it.
It's also not really supposed to make sense in the traditional way. You're seeing the world through the eyes of the characters who are also confused. The world is supposed to be blanketed in mystery.
James Woods in The Boost.
WHAT OVERACTING???
It’s hilariously bad, but I couldn’t look away. The overdose/bad reaction scene was reedonkulous.
This review and clip selection makes it seem like a very effective drug drama, but when you watch the actual film it’s pretty goofy. I found myself laughing out loud at the serious scenes (the beach staircase fall, the bad reaction, the domestic, violence, the buildup to and self-sabotage of the pivotal comeback deal, etc.
The most enjoyable scenes were the ones with Sean Young skinny dipping. Her acting was passable, but came off much worse when juxtaposed with Woods’ scenery buffet.
accidental touristb was to bland didnt agree at all
Hollywood actors and celebrities being supportive of liberty and freedom? Wow this clip must be really old.
Pretty sure most people in Hollywood and the arts in general are still liberals who support the likes of Amnesty. What’s changed is the average person (you) is now a complete fool who believes insane right wing conspiracy theories.
Can you prove with evidence that todays Hollywood actors and celebrities are combative of liberty and freedom?
Hellraiser is trash. Hate that Pinhead thing.
Haw haw. Don’t wet your nightie ma’am.
@@reginaldforthright805
Yo mama's nightie
God .. Political commercials involving Hollywood celebrities were just as annoying as they are today.
i seen all but 1 hellraiser film and they are pretty awful films, the only unique one was part 5, inferno
hhaah! The boys are wrong about HELLRAISER II..... a great sequel..... such weaklings...
