I picked up a 7artisans 35mm /0.95 for my Z6 for about $200, and I do feel like I've gotten more than $200 of fun out of it. Great little nighttime portrait lens. Surprisingly solid feeling build quality. I appreciate the comparison to a high-end lens in this video.
I have been using one of these on Fuji for the past few weeks and I have no complaints, especially at the price. I previously owned the Samyang 12/2 and I prefer the 7Artisans. The lens cap is a pinch type so doesn’t have the same issues as the 7Artisans 7.5/2. I was unsure about the clickless aperture at first but I have got used to it now and find I am fairly accurate at knowing what the aperture is set to.
The unfair comparison is useful, because it shows us how much difference all that money makes. On the one hand it's not very much -- most people wouldn't notice the difference; on the other hand it's a big difference, to an art director or client or fellow photographer.
Great review! I really like the 7artisans 7,5mm lens, the build quality and image quality are good and it's a very creative lens with it's fisheye look and very short minimum focus distance!
Been having a bit of a clear out and sold 3 manual lenses from 7/TT artisan. The 12mm is the only one I’m keeping - on a (rather unscientific) comparison with my 10-24, it actually seemed slightly sharper. I live in the mountains so a decent wide angle is a useful thing. In the end, the capital invested is not great so not really costing much to hang onto it. Manual lenses fit well with the Fuji experience so I enjoy using it.
It's hard to beat the manual Rokinon/Samyang 12 f2 for value, especially used. It has it's flaws, but with extra stop of light and better IQ than the price would indicate, it's hard not to recommend it over this new 12. And, for not much more there is the stellar AF viltrox 13 1.4. Life is too short for bad glass
Hello Dave, thanks for the video review on the wide-angle lens 7Artisans 12 mm f2.8 Mark II. I'm just familiarizing with this lens and find out its capabilities and weaknesses. Let me say, that a cheep Ultra wide-angle lens has not to be an all-rounder. This one is sharp, comes without vignettes and produces sun-stars like no other lens. The bulky and expensive Fujinon XF 8-16 mm is not the only alternative. More affordable are the 12 mm lenses by Samyang/South Korea (superior!) and Pergear/China (inferior!). Just try all of them!
F2.8 is for a shallow depth of field. the subject should be much closer to the camera than you were in your example. Ofcourse it’s not going to look sharp lol.
Yeah, I appreciate the fact that 7Artisans releases decent manual lenses at really cheap prices, but the clickless aperture and metal lens cap (which keeps falling off my fisheye) are driving me nuts. Makes me wish that I had gone for the Samyang instead despite being more than twice the price.
You should include Viltrox 13mm f/1.4. It`s cheap, considering the optics and the build quality, AF performance. IMO Viltrox is the best thing that happened to quality, afordable optics.
Can anyone help me. I have nikon Z6 II, but this lens just dont fit, i have dark cicle around picture. Do I need some kind of connector or something for this to work properly? Thank you

I love sharp modern lenses with their fast af AF ;), but those affordable 7artisans and TTartisan lenses are really fun to shoot with!

Yes, there is a Fujinon fixed lens, the all venerable xf14mm f/2.8, which is truly an amazing wide angle lens with no distortion whatsoever.

There are better low budget lenses for Fuji available like the Samyang 12mm F2 or Viltrox 13mm 1,4.
Yes, that was my thought too. The Samyang/Rokinon 12mm is probably the better performance-to-dollar option.

Should be mentioned that you can't get the Samyang 12mm f2 for Canon R or EF mount so a bit of a bargain there where there is less competition.
