When I was in high school, I took speech over the summer and didn’t know anyone in the class. For our first assignment, the teacher paired us up with the person sitting next to us, and we had to interview them with a given list of questions. For some reason when my partner asked what I did in my spare time, I said “rock climbing.” I had never rock-climbed in my life.
When my partner gave her speech about me, she made it like a TV show. It was so creative, and everyone loved it and clapped. I smiled. I felt so accomplished. No one ever knew the truth.
Have I been living a lie my whole life?
