Ok, I am 60 and suggested to listen to this to my partner and our 18 year old daughter whilst away on an interstate trip and the two of them decided to drop acid at home. You perhaps may not be surprised that I got a phone calll a few hours later and they told me they had been listening to selected Hillage back catalog all through the intense part of their experience and were utterly grateful and kinda upset I hadn't introduced this earlier to them...
Anyway, Steve and the musicians supporting him were the most forward and avant garde in the field looking back and then reflecting on where music is today - I can see his legacy in many beautiful people and places and that is more than anyone could ask from the Mother of all life.

I couldn't agree more. He's such a cult figure due to his New Age lyrics, etc. I'm sure he's perfectly pleased with just that. Steve Hillage just never was a fame seeker. But his music has always been top notch. Just the bass intro to Unidentified is enough to get you into the song. The bass on that song is so funky/cool. And the drumming! Well, everything is perfect. Miquette is always essential. She always right their having a classy dialogue with his guitar parts. Green is in a world of it's own really. I love the Motivation album as well, but Green just took that one to new heights. Take care 🎸🙂

We were having a shroom session one night about 25 years ago, suitably spaced when an old pal pulled a tape from his pocket. One side had Libest Spacement Monitor (Pink Floyd) and the other side was this absolute masterpiece of an album. Can't remember a single other thing from that night other than being completely blown away by both sides of that tape.

I took pictures of the moon and stars 43 years ago. Projected them and listened to this and Jean Michel Jarre while smoking with a friend. I only had about 15 slides but I think we looked at them for about an hour. Fun times until we had to have our regular game of sterilised milk chess.

    We stand at the doorways
    To the higher worlds
    But they won't open
    'til we open ourselves
And strip away our thinking minds
To unlock the love that's deep inside
And destroy all these clumsy words
To feel the energy they hide
'Cause we don't need names for what we are
I am, you are, and we remain
    Unidentified
Don't put no labels on me
    Unidentified
Don't try to block my energy
    Unidentified
    May I remain a mystery
    Unidentified
So my spirit can be free
    Unidentified
Like the saucers in the sky
    Unidentified

Ah wonderful memories of seeing this played live in my hometown of Swindon in a glorified discotheque (would you believe) hardly a hot bed of psychedelic space rock... but I distinctly recall looking around me in amazement during the ‘blissed out’ section of leylines to glassdom and seeing the whole audience, token hippies (me & a few of my mates) plus the regular baggie trousered disco nutters all with their eyes closed totally lost in the music... wonderful stuff...

In 2002 I bought an original green vinyl copy of this complete with insert and poster. Years later I bought Two Sides of Peter Banks (solo album from original Yes guitarist) and was surprised to see that "The White House Vale" bore more than a passing resemblance to "Leylines to Glassdom" even though the album dates from 1973, five years before Green. So I bet you Hillage owned the Peter Banks album in question and the inspiration for the song in question.

Same here. A friend and I used to pick magic mushrooms every year, dry them, grind them up and store them.
We would go to second-hand record stalls and buy Hillage LPs and not listen to them until later that evening when we'd had a few beers, a few smokes and some mushrooms.
We always had the most amazing times on those tripped-out musical discoveries. That was almost 40 years ago now and sadly my friend is no longer with us but the memories of him, and of Hillage and our times together are forever imprinted on my brain. Happy days 🙃🍄
