JIMEK (Radzimir Dębski), composer and producer. JIMEK gained first international recognition when he was picked as the winner by Beyoncé and judges such as Giorgio Moroder, Isabella 'the Machine' Summers, Afrojack in Beyoncé 'End of Time' remix competition beating 3000 international contestants. The winning track was released on Beyoncé's next official release "4: the Remix".
He graduated with a degree in composition from the Chopin Music University in Warsaw and studied orchestration and film scoring at the University of California in Los Angeles. He started to work writing music for film and tv as a teenager, constantly building up his musical workshop and versatility, which led him to his love for stylistic liberty he calls 'smuggling'. Today his work ranges from writing and conducting contemporary symphonic pieces for philharmonics to producing completely electronic beats for collaborations and film.
#HipHopHistory #HipHop #JIMEK
never thought something I did for the love of the music that brought me up would get to this big. Thank you everyone that helped spread the word!! I know I didn't do ALL of the history of Hip-Hop, or everybody's complete lists, I did miss many greats - but these I wrote down by heart, no research, just beats that changed the game for me. (And YES - of course I did Harlem Shake just because it was f***king impossible to orchestrate!!) Let me know what tracks would you add?? would love to do that someday. JIMEK
JIMEK Is there, or will it be a full album with this versions?
JIMEK Please travel with this, its so powerful. The pain and struggle that goes into HipHop/RnB etc needs an orchestra to deliver it. I need an entire concert one day. AMAZING! WOW! Brings tears to my eyes.
JIMEK wOw jak tego słuchałam to miałam ciary ;)
JIMEK
Id Love to have all this as one album please? To byłaby cudowna sprawa. Our own polish little "London Phillharmonic Orchestra" with albums consisting of popculture themes. With HipHop or Video Game music.
JIMEK Biggie - Big Poppa
Drake - Started From The Bottom
Tupac - California Love (kinda hard haha)
Ice Cube - Today Was A Good Day
Lil Wayne - Mirror
Mac Miller - Donald Trump
Naughty By Nature - Feel Me Flow
This guy needs an award for being able to make the Harlem Shake work
That harlem shake was good my mind was blown
This guy needs an award. Period.
He made that joint slay!
This performance brought tears to my eyes. Have to see this live.
i was crying like a bitch bro hahahaha
Rightttt?!?!! This was so amazing.
Me too
It's showing respect to the hip hop community by showing them some love. Well played ladies and gents.
Hip hop talent is through the roof.
I got chills at Dear Mama. What a beautiful composition.
Same bro but they needed more 2pac music:(Like Ambizion has a rider,Hail Mary, and etc
👍👍❤
Me too, dude, me too ❤
Two worlds became one....Hip Hop and Classical. That was truly inspiring. Thank you for some amazing music.
Gurmeet singh not classical, it's 70s spy movie soundtrack style
When JIMEK came to Kenya, he joined my list of favourite composers. ❤
We need "Metal History Orchestrated by JIMEK" !!!
It's really crazy that you can play any hip-hop song and nothing happens but when you play still dre ,it brings a lot of emotions.
Wow, this has got to be one of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life. On that note, WHERE'S OUTKAST?!?!?1
Yeah man i agree....100% where my Atl niggaz at?been listenin' to Bboi and dre 3000 since i was a kid... He could or even should put em in......
A million other hiphop tunes before Outlast.... What about 100miles and running
I KNOW!!!!!! WOWOWOWOWOWOWWOOWOOWOWOW!!!!
I bet Roses woulda sounded SWEET
there needs to be a full piece done on "flashing lights" at the 2:35 mark
Gagan S yes love that cover
Try Kanye West - Late Orchestration.
Sounds like something straight out of a James Bond soundtrack.
Yes ^^^ what they said! You have gotta consider doing a full version of flashing lights seriously! A full version would be perfection!
Portland Cello Project. Check it out
Swimming Pools sounds so beautiful
+Too Soon Junior i want a full version of simming pools ocistra :(
Jholiday Me too, the shoudlve atleast made it longer
Forget that, but don't forget about Dre. Kendrick might be called the heir to hip hop, but he's kind of like the shit heir who no body remembers because he didn't do anything worth remembering.
I have to agree, that was probably the best part of the video
Derploop look at his track record first
props to the 2 drummers who were ON POINT all the way through!
It's fantastic! I can't even imagine how hard those people had to work to do something like that! Amazing job!!!
kchkaceha Not at all. Hip-hop's musical background is very simple both to hear and rewrite, and to perform (simple structure, short, no dynamics, simple articulation). Boringly simple for musician with classical training. And thi orcherstra is one of the best in the world- If some famous orchestra can't play something, these people can, no problem. Not to mention a tiny fact that Jimek even didn't have to orchestrate Simon Says, because originally it's Akira Ifukube "Godzilla appears", thoug this one is also that simple, it's quicker to rewrite this or play from hearing, than to order a score from Japan.
+kchkaceha If you kisten to the songs these are the instrumentals involved... check em out.
kchkaceha this is very simple compared to some pieces we play
The orchestration is something special, but let's just take a second to appreciate how DEEP in the crates some of these cuts are. Not just an achievement in music, but one made possible by a man who truly loves the form and its history.
Facts. Happy 50th anniversary to Hip Hop!
Missed the old days hip hop, each song had its own rythm and instrumental identity
4 sure. One love.peace!
Well most of them sampled from Jazz, orchestras and other genres... but I understand what you mean
@@EaZyGoiN12 yes, and nothing we can do about it, times change, so do music. Each got its own era
People still be making music like this. Just gotta look a lil harder and keep an open mind...
?
All these years later watching this again, this is still great and makes me smile. Kudos
ATCQ - "Electric Relaxtion"! 1:56
jeffrey r Should've got a standing ovation!
jeffrey r That's where I lost it. And at the Beasties. And M.O.P.
5 Years later and I am still inspired and moved by this.
I knew that still dre would get an applause. Masterpiece. They don't make music like that anymore.
WOW that was amazing!
I would've hoped you made an orchestral version of Gangsters Paradise by Coolio
that would've been soooo awesome :D
Dario Zuban Exactly my thought
Yes!! I second that as a future request!
Dario Zuban too ez pz
can you send me the link? :)
Dario Zuban /watch?v=WycR6qZeOV4 enjoy ;)
A part 2 with a whole new list of songs would be AMAZING
They could easily use Kanye's "Flashing Lights" as a Bond song :D
I am a metal guy but man this is amazing
Diamonds are forever?
@Nobodynot enough smart to understand a joke
Oh pleaseee do this again and give me the opportunity to buy tickets this was amazing! 🥲😀
We need a whole album with these 😍😍😍
Jak wchodzi "Still D.R.E.", to mnie ciarki przechodzą. Oj, jakże bym chciała, żeby wyszedł cały kawałek w Jimkowej aranżacji!
oj tak tak +1
play this at my funeral. this is why I believe music is the best thing in this world
GFUNK FOR THE WIN BABY
I'm waiting PART 2 JIMEK!
Still
It would be better to see it live. That would be amazing. Don’t you agree?
Tommy Thompson 100%
In interview he told that there are 4 different versions of "Hip hop history" but we can listen them only at concerts, here in Poland.
Its bouncing as I type this stay tuned 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
The point of grateness of this piece is not in the choice of the songs. It is hidden in the maestry of rewriting it for the orchestra. It is very pleasent for an ordinary listener. It is a grate joy to discover the songs you know. But personally I also made some notes and looked for the songs I didn't know till now. So that's what it is about. Enjoy the classical music and spread your horizons!!! THUMBS UP!!!
At 4:26, I love the entire crowd recognizes the iconic opening of Dr. Dre’s famous “Still Dre!” 👏👏🤩🤩 I love this entire orchestra paying tribute to classic Hip-Hop even the ones from back in the day! 💯
Can we please have the full version of "Swimming Pools" by Kendrick Lamar?
ua-cam.com/video/iouTYDidaB8/v-deo.html
Jen Huang y
Jen Huang Hell yeah!
4:26 I set this as my Alarm tone to wake up to every morning...
...for some reason, my bed now has hydraulics and bumps to the tune
😂
Co tu dużo mówić ojciec prawdziwy wirtuoz ,to i syn ogromny talent w nowym i orginalnym stylu . Naprawde ogromny szacun.
Amazing. I felt the soul, the beat the MANA as we call it in New Zealand. A pure talent, my childhood presented all fancy like on a silver platter of musical goodness.
This kind of arrangement is possible because he is from POLAND! He is our national treasure!
Now, who gonna tell me who pressed unlike button? This is one of the best thing which I have watch since couple months on UA-cam!
+Łukasz Bekas
niestety kolego obawiam sie,ze taka wypowiedzia osiagasz raczej odwrotny od zamierzonego cel i raczej ludzi z zagranicy do Polski zniechecasz.twoje drugie zdanie by wystarczylo.
Spoko. Też miałem takie wrażenie, więc jak widać dobrze myślałem.
The hood meets classy.
Cccw ssw s w w swl
Unstoppable hip hop!!
The hood was always classy.
--Much love
"Nie muszę wracać" było takie idealne. ❤
Kayne West's Flashing Lights was so on point!!! Good job Bro, pozdro!
3:06 This sound so much gangsta than the original low key! 😂😂😂😂😂
This is literally the most amazing thing I've seen. I was smiling through the entire thing. Maybe even some light chuckles. Hope you do more work like this!
This is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen I have such a deep appreciation for music and instruments. I love it.
This needs more views and Shares!!!
This is definitely one of the reasons i've gotten into rap culture. The fact that the beauty of rap can be captured even in an orchestra.
This has got to be the tenth time I've listened to this! Totally had me searching for blends of music! If only you could blend people together like this music!!
I remember first seeing this video a few years ago, I was proud to say I knew most of the songs, but there was one song that stood out to me which I had never heard. Electric Relaxation by ATCQ, from that moment on, my musical horizons exploded into a path of discovery, thank you.
Ja tez !
I ja także. 😊 Polecam Laura Bretan - Adagio . Laura Bretan - Breathe
and Laura Bretan - Nessun Dorma (Bucharest Concert - 05/12/2019)
Czy tylko ja słucham tego kilkanaście razy dziennie ?? Kocham tooo!!
YOUUU NEEED TO MAKE A FULL TRACK OF SWIMMING POOLS IS SOO BEAUTIFUL 😍😍
On a lighter note, anyone else noticed how most of the audience recognized exactly 4 songs:
Still Dre, Get Your Freak On, What’s the Difference and Crazy in Love.
5 if you include Harlem Shake.
So many goosebumps while listening to this arrangement. Big up Jimek and team!!
Jimek's orchestra truly gives it's viewers a life changing experience. Jimek has unraveled some of the greatest musical anomalies and exposed their masterpiece. Jimek is one of the greatest modern age orchestral arrangers.
You could probably save the music program in the US with this.
Jay-Z & a few other artist have already done this
35 lat a ryczalem,rycze jak dziecko...DZIEKUJE!!!!!
Za każdym razem gdy tego słucham mam dreszcze ! Coś pięknego !
2023 dalej kocham i duma rozpiera❤
Fantastyczny niesamowicie utalentowany artysta!
Jesus I wish I would have heard this live. This is amazing literally brining tears to my eyes. Cause those guys came from nothing and made history. What a salute to Hip Hop....Black kids need school field trips to something like this.
Its amazing that general message of hip hop is very international: poor kids who have nothing are dreaming about being famous, succesfull and rich.
People all around the world dream of this, its universal everywhere. Hip hop was found by african americans, but became world's heritage ❤️
as a european i praise the hip hop for its simplicity in its foundation, i mean our music culture is complete opposition, i feel like it's all about your ability to play well on instrument, making you more of a craftsman than an artist, when i believe that creativity should be the thing to focus on. Music became exclusive and prestigious. Then with the technology came the revolution, poor and simple lads from african minority not giving a single fuck about proper musical education just played with the music, all they needed was a basic rythm to put some rhymes on, like its the beauty of the art, creativity. And hip hop because of its simple foundation let's you be creative as no other genre.
@@TheTarooX But hip hop was about THE CAUSE and speaking to the Black Community saying I HEAR YOU AND I AM GOING THROUGH IT TOO. The beauty of Hip Hop is because of it's lyrics mostly focus on fighting various forms of oppression and injustices and being strong even within lack, various parts of Europe has picked it up and the new Artist are really really good. Iran and India are also evolving. Now as a person who is consider "hood" because of where I come from, I was introduced to classical music at a very young age...cultural and common in New Orleans. Then I grew up Baptist and Catholic. So Gaelic sounds sung in high ranges are just as important to me as the deep tones learned through Gospel Choirs. I love love love the orchestra. I just never really felt welcomed into the environment when I was younger. Right now Chopin is my favorite. He's have whimsical overlapping notes that is interesting to hear. His music is so layered and some of the music, even though there was no exposure, is very southern and African. It's very interesting.
@@TheTarooX And what I find is people who learn how to play usually learn later on in life how to let the soul play and lead. I think it takes some time to marry their instrument. At the same time I know many who only play by ear and it sounds different. The music hits different. Even Conductors matters. Some Conductors, I cannot listen too. They make the classical music too choppy and hit hurts my ears. But the right conductor who truly knows how to lead can marry the instruments in a way it's like water. Now I had a chance to intern at Oxford in College, but I took another opportunity to intern in Congress. If I would have gone, music was the first thing to venture into. I wanted to know what how European interpretation of music without the American esthetics.
@@everythingdana9322 it's true, but i believe there had to be a little more to catch the attention of the whole world than talking about struggle specific to your people. Like most of the world wasn't familiar with that cultural context, like how can people relate to discrimination when their country wasn't built on racial problems, you get me?
@Jimek, I teach high school orchestra in United States (Wisconsin). Is there a way to get the music for this to perform with my students? Is it available for purchase or rental?
Great to have so talented & creative People in Poland💪
I had goosebumps through the whole video. Thanks for doing this.
Dumni bardzo. Życzymy absolutnych sukcesów na międzynarodowych scenach :D
If I have never witnessed magic 🪄…I just did!🖤🪶👑 without a word being spoken, you honored#hip hop in it’s essence and all that it is.!! Thank you! 🙏🏿
Nas - Nas is like instrumental sounded beautiful followed by dr dre !
I would love to watch an actual concert with a Jay Z or a Kanye performing and your Orchestra backing the whole thing. This is class. Well done.
Jay Z Live at Carnegie Hall
Really enjoyed this. especially Nas is Like and Flashing Lights
Good list of rap as well.
Not that I like Anaconda or the Harlem Shake, but hey.
Some modern hiphop, some classic hiphop, there's something for all of us.
Keep doing this
proregeRotzak
Definitely, Nas might ave been one of the hardest to adapt. The chopped-up Preemo sample doesn't sound like it's meant for being played live. But somehow, they made it sound really nice.
Simon Says was tight, this ominous sample really translated well into the orchestra sound. Why people clapped only at Dre and Missy?
***** JIMEK wrote that it was just for the challenge for the orchestra. I was kinda confused on the premiere day, but that explenation has sense to me, actually.
Omg this is lit. Wish there was an album of complete songs.
I would buy and listen daily.
kto po wczorajszym koncercie ? SZTOS! :)
So proud that he's from Poland (and from my city!) :) Amazing man!
when c.r.e.a.m started playing, shivers ran through my body faster than usain bolt.
because it's a fucking classic.
selfless I had that when dear mama kicks in. That was so beautiful 😍
selfless yea i got a lil emotional. lol
Hip hop orchestra composer is something from a dream its great that it came true for someone!!!! Love it!!!!
Wow! Who would ve ever thought???!!!
Comin' where we come from...and Hip-Hop's most humble beginings- trained classic musical artists cover our artform to display THEY talents!!!
JIMEK! You are so ridiculously talented! I can't stop listening to your sexify sound track and this is also beyond cool! keep rocking this is great
I LOVE THIS!!!! I wish I could see it live...I am head bobbing and dancing in my chair, LOL!!! So many great songs...
NOSPR kawał grajków... jedna z najlepszych synfonicznych orkiestr w polsce o ile nie najlepsza :) cieszy mnie to, że mają wkoncu po latach swój dom i to jaki...
Comming back here every year
I don't listen to hip-hop or rap all that much anymore, but I'm familiar with some of the hit singles he composed and made arrangements for. I must say that I am impressed. I'm always impressed when composers are willing to not just go "old school," composing music from previous musical eras (like Renaissance, Classical, and Romantic), but also do orchestral renditions of modern music. Gives a sense "old school" meeting and meshing with "new school." Love it!
That was the dopest tribute to hip-hop I have ever heard!! 💯💯💯
Co jakiś czas słucham z wielką przyjemnością tej aranżacji/kompozycji... Myślę sobie, jak pięknie muzyka łączy. Dzisiaj przeczytałem komentarze... ehh
Wow thank you so much for creating this ❤️🙏
Magnificent beautiful collision of hip hop and orchestra ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was freaking amazing!!!! I have no words except PERFECTION. Thanks for paying tribute to black culture JOB WELL DONE!!!!!
I love this so much. I love the sounds of an orchestra, nothing can beat it for me.
OMG You got all the classics!!! wow, this is just so amazing I don't have the words to say how great this is! I wish I could find more orchestrated Hip Hop
Simon says!!! Hell yeah I wanna hear that one! :D
Brognor Lightbringer And it was awesome :P
Brognor Lightbringer It's Akira Ifukube's "Godzilla vs. Mothra" theme actually. Also used in Ifukube's Symphonic Fantasia nr.1
"Harlem Shake" in this version is so freaky and dark... wow!
Just discovered this and I'm in awe of the talent displayed. I grew up listening to all of these songs and I'm so happy that you did this.
How great it must be to play in an orchestra
Jest Pan geniuszem ;) Polska jest dumna!
Hey Jimek first of all thank you for your great work and the amazing experience we all have listening to this masterpiece! You know we all loved this video,but.... COME ON we're waiting for PART 2!
I just read this! THIS was in POLAND!! HAHA AWESOME! My grandma would love you!!! I'm half Polish she was 100%!! She had a sign "You bet ya dupa I'm Polish" haha and "Ya cie kocham" (spelling) TY brother!

Awesome, cheers...
Laura Bretan - Nessun Dorma (Bucharest Concert - 05/12/2019)
Wg mnie najlepsze ukazanie, jak bardzo hip-hop jest zmienny i jak można w oryginalny sposób ukazać go dla szerokiego spectrum ludzi.
Choć dla mnie Still D.R.E. w wersji orkiestralnej to mistrzostwo świata !!!!!!
JIMEK, szacun za to !!!!!!!!!!
This is dope AF.
6:25 crazy in love
This is amazing!! Thank you for creating this masterpiece. I wish it was longer 😁
Ależ to piękne, panie JIMEK!
Właśnie takiej muzyki wciąż brakuje na polskim rynku muzycznym...
This will be my first concert to attend when COVID is over!
Goosebumps through all the video *GOOD JOB JIMEK*
This is the most amazing thing ever created. Really can give a new appreciation for both types of music. Brilliant
