and the beginning of this movie... is the GREATEST beginning ever...!!! from the moment we drop out of the clouds with the french horns... and finally on the open mountain with Maria...
Julie Andrews once said that after such a long and slow walk down the aisle, reaching out to take Christopher Plummer’s hand at the top of the steps felt not like acting, but rather like the most natural thing in the world to do.
I always thought of my daughter as Maria. Enthusiastic, impulsive, but so so kind and loving. The song provided perfect closure to her story arc. When she married in a beautiful church in Germany I immediately thought of this scene. And cried like a baby. Just like I am now.
When Julie Andrews went to Salzburg, Austria with Dianne Sawyer, that was in 2015 during the 20/20 Special Edition with Dianne Sawyer, she asked her if she would like to walk down the aisle just like she did in the movie, she said yes I would love to, she said that she would like to do it for one last time, and she said that remembered that day so well she was getting married to the captain, and she went up the stairs and grabbed his hand and kneeled at the front of the bishop to be blessed, I remembered that scene so well and every time I see it, I feel like crying because it was so beautiful.
How does this video not have more views? I am tearing up right now! This is my favorite wedding scene ever! Now when I marry if I do I want a dress like hers.
The Sound Of Music is my all time favorite musical next to Mary Poppins. I've always loved the wedding scene in this film and the wedding dress and veil; simple and yet regal. When I got married I wanted my wedding dress to look just like this one.
I also love Leisl's dress, and interesting that she carries no bouquet, only taking Maria's when they arrive at the altar. So graceful, her walk ahead of the bride, with hands in prayer position.
When I watched this for the first time I was just happy to see that we didn't have to wait so long to see the main couple get married or get together. Nowadays you have to wait until the end of the movie for them to either get engaged, get together, or get married.
@@BuntPastaLaVista According to Julie Andrews. The real bishop of Salzburg at the time Andreas Rohracher appears in this scene. Because they didn’t remember to bring in the actor who was playing the bishop for this scene. And they secretively chuckled about the bishop. Because he had a life of young ladies occasionally. It was not the bishop that he actually was made out to be.
She received very hard task with this moment of glory - in regard of the fact, that her wedding bells in the end of the wedding meant in the same time Anschluss of Austria!
My sister always had an issue with this scene. Particularly because they sung "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria," I guess a judgmental song about her, at Maria's own wedding. I didn't see any problem with it, but I can KIND OF see where she's coming from nowadays.
@@mahjonglivestreaming4535 it was the dress of the common people probably but it evolved over time. Also Our Blessed Lady appeared to saints who founded religious orders and often was dressed in the habit she wanted the order to wear. Like the Dominicans. The Servites founders she appeared holding the black habit she wanted them to use. Etc etc.
I remember I always wondered why the bridesmaids went first and then I was told that is what they do at American weddings - They don't follow the Bride like in the UK
It's part of the altarpiece dating from 1626, it's a depiction of the resurrection of Christ and he is usually depicted holding a banner with a cross on it.
They aren't. A song of confusion about her purpose in life is made clear by her marriage to the Captain. It is now used as happy celebratory way. If her fellow nuns were dissing her ,I doubt they would have haply helped her get dressed in that wedding dress with much care and joy.
Las monjas se alegran porque María encontró su verdadera vocación, eso la hará feliz en la tierra y bienaventurada en la vida eterna. Además las monjas serán de capital importancia en posibilitar el desenlace de la película.
Greatest movie wedding scene ever!

Concordo plenamente com você

I love how happy the nuns were for Maria. Beautiful
Igual a mi. Es una alegría sobrenatural, se alegran que una antigua hermana de comunidad encuentre su verdadera vocación.
É verdade
É verdade ❤❤❤
Hands down, the most beautiful wedding dress in the history of the world! Elegant simplicity at its absolute best! 🥰🎶💐🤗🎇💕
You said it ,Nancy !
Julies tiny waist...That veil..gossamer wings..mesmerising

Has there ever been a better, more beautifully filmed and memorable wedding scene in any movie? I think not!
She is so beautiful
When Maria kneels before the Mother Superior, she looks like she's enveloped by a cloud. Ethereal and classic.

STUNNING! I get goosebumps watching this scene.
Still the best wedding scene of any film ❤
I never get bored watching it

Absolutely! So graceful and elegant.
FULLY AGREE

I still have never seen a more stunning wedding dress than this one. Takes my breath away. ❤
*Sublime
Best wedding is dream come true
Her dress was so pretty, it honestly looks like a dress that could be worn today and not be considered old fashioned.
I think it's beautiful Sarah, as another commentator said " Elegant simplicity at its absolute best!" I have to agree with her.
Actress Charmian Carr (Liesl) was so pretty. R.I.P. I love the loving looks she gives Maria at the beginning of this scene
Liesl had a crush on Christopher Plummer when they were filming.
Who designed the wedding dress and veil.....breathtaking...the most beautifull ever
Essa belíssima cena do casamento, me emociona até hoje ❤

Impecable ceremonia, expresión quirúrgica, libre del convencionalismo. Cada detalle está lleno de decisión y propósito. Una belleza.

I STILL cry when watching this...
Same. So beautiful.
Epic..❤❤
I love this! I wanted and got a really long veil for my own wedding inspired by Maria's!
Wonderful!
wow ...very very special ....
Perfect!
Best...movie...wedding...ever. So in this case the oldest daughter is Maid of Honor and whoever that mustache guy is is Best Man?
Liesel Von Trapp is the maid of honor and Max Detweiler is the best man.
The Captain’s friend, Max, is the best man.
And Marta and Gretl were the flower girls

Nice dress yes but how about the Captains uniform! All grooms should have swords I think.
❤❤❤❤
I want to be a nun!
I wonder who came up with their uniform

I see, thank you.
