Definitely another Dubs Banger banging Banger! Definitely looking forward to a Rhythm Roulette style video from you bro. A very Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I like the way your MPC is so clean. Maybe you could clean the Stanton too?!! I am looking forward to your roulette episode[s]. Maybe we can see more than half a face and some hands!! Dope flip today. A true xmas gem!
Congratulations on the views! I think I speak for all of your followers when I say keep up the good work. As a beat maker and music freak myself, your videos and beats are inspiring and original. Plus your drums KNOCK! ( one thing that I am exceptionally jealous of) Cheers to another year!
Can you give some in depth tutorials on how you do your chops? You probably do some of the best chops I've seen. Like this record, even in literally almost l of your videos, the chops you chose are crazy and that's something I love and sort of lack in my production. Any tips you have or just maybe show some of your process when you do it maybe? All love and respect my man, I'm an avid watcher of your videos.
+Jon Henning thank you i greatly appreciate your support and for watching.. i get a lot of questions and requests for how i sample... im going to be coming out with more videos of me going through the beginning of the record and actually sampling my samples live and talk about them quickly on why i sample that part so you can follow along and see what i pick up and how i put them all together... just stay tuned homie. any other questions dont hesitate to ask...
Dope work, hope I`ll get those mad skills as you. Could you make a "Tutorial" video where you explain whitch samples you shoose and why/where to shop em up? Would help, kinda stuck.. Have an nice new year, can wait to see/hear more off you!
+FuseItAll thanks homie... itd hard to do a tutorial of what and where to sample as sampling comes from your creativity and exoeriebce... the best thing for me to say is just practice sampling... i sample the same records i sampled 8 years ahgo and find new samples all the itme... with time you gain experience is all i can truly say to that... just record and start chopping stuff up... when youre listening to music to sample you cant listen to it as an enjoyable experience and say to yourself hey this is a good song... you have to treat it as a resource for sounds and break down little micro sounds that you can manipulate... its easy to get lost in good music and forget youre trying to sample it and extract sounds...
thats a great advice, i just started to get into sampling and havent thought of it that way. always thought the sample must be an enjoyable listening experience as a whole at first
Yo Dubs! Dope video as always! Great tip about the hi hats. I normally take 3 different hats from the break and use the natural velocity. Would you recommend I just take one and use the 16 levels accordingly?
+Late One if youre able to get three different hi hats and they all hit at different velocities and are different sounding hi hats i would definitely keep doing it the way youre doing... i sometimes only use two different hi hats that sound similar but are different or if i can extract three hi hats thats even better... the use of 16 levels is only really for when i can only get one good sounding clean hi hat sample...
aiyyo, Dubs. really dig your vids, man. I really love the feeling of the beat. I have one favor, though. can you show us how you sequence your beat? for example, like how you make an intro, what elements should we add on the verse or chorus to make the beat more lively and all. because one of my problem when I sample stuff it gets very repetitive and I found it quite hard to differenciate the sequences for my beat. thanks, man! keep em banger coming.
+Gusti Arya Wiriadhana best way to have different sequences ever two bars change up the ending of your beat with different samples... if you're using loops, chop the loop up on every drum and every snare so you can make a new sample loop ever sequence... intros is going to be all up to your imagination... one thing i use to do a lot for changing up sequences was having sound effects.. a lot of spacey sounds that blended in well with the beat... take in verbal threat by dj premier he has a car starting engine sound as his main sequence.. just be creative and try different things... and for main verse back into the chorus youre going to learn how to transition with different snares and drum break downs... hope that helps homie
would be cool to see a dj muggs type beat (old school cypress hill) . Just sayin. But your beats are mega bangers as usual, much love n respect bro! peace
Hey man been going thru these vids and all your stuff is dope. Would you be interested in linking up to let me use your beats in our basketball mixes in return for shoutouts and plugs to your pages?
keep up the great work. see if you can get doom on a track. or currency. my Lord. shots to jada and hov. you make good flows come to mind like mine. right o'
great beat mate , you have great skills ! can i ask you something ? can i use your samples from your download section on your blog to make my own beats ?
Hey Dubs. I’m login’ ur videos...here’s a suggestion...can you sample early 80s reggae into a beat? You got old school boom bap going...keep up the good work. #SHAWNBEATZ47!!
+58Jaymoney i wouldnt recommend buying that turntable as when you extract samples youre going to want abetter needle... if its all you can afford than yes its fine just make sure to buy a good dj/mixer with lows middle and high knobs to tweak your samples so they can be louder....whats your price range?
+58Jaymoney something that you can interchange the needles on... a turntable that has a built in preamp... and also a turntable that gives you the option to record directly on to your computer... i use the stanton st.150 its built really strong and suits all your sampling needs... i think it goes for about 650-700$
I hope mass appeal calling you. If not do your own !!!!!!!!! Mad props
Fr tho
