I was looking for a song to describe the pain of family estrangement. I’ve spent two years with the feeling of wearing black. Such a deep mourning and grief for those of us abandoned by grown children. This is a hopeful song however, very beautiful
"Look at the child upon my knee, she has eyes of blue, She resembles me resembling you." An old story, often a sad one, but still filled with hope when you look into those new blue eyes I'd guess. Aoife's voice always feels like a soft horn blowing lyrics right through me. Great to hear Tim playing on this one. One of the old greats helping out one of the more recent ones. Looking forward to the album. Best to her and the other her too wherever they got off to.

If you don't want to be alone, stop Intentionally alienating half of your audience. You were part of one of the finest musical performances every recorded. Try to remember that people had no idea, during that session, what you believed or what your opinions were - they Simply listened because it was Beautiful.
That is asking musicians to not speak out for what they believe in or are against. There is a very long tradition of that with musicians. If you want to stop listening to Aoife because of her views about something, that's on you, but many musicians feel that hiding their views about important issues is being untrue to themselves and to the issues they care about.
Such a joy getting to sing with you dear, Aoife - your songs resonate deeply for me. Thank you brother Joe Henry for bringing us together 🙏🏾💙
