As an American I wish to Thank You for your visit (Two Years Ago) and it is my hope that us Americans treated you well and you had a wonderful visit and that you'll visit us again in the near future.
Great video!!.. When a lot of us here are not feeling good about America. It’s nice to see middle America Indiana is thriving with happy people and proud of where they come from. Not to mention you from abroad speaking highly of AMERICAN People is very refreshing!!.. Good job capturing your brief moments in AMERICA!!.. Liked your b ball shot ..nice touch !!
If the opportunity comes up again to visit America. Try to request a trip to Kentucky. There is a cave system that takes you over a kilometer underground. Visit a Nascar race track. Visit the Kentucky Derby. Rock climb in a cave under a zoo. All sorts of wild stuff. Visit some distilleries (bourbon tasting). If you want to visit on your own without a guided tour with limited time for activities, I can take you around to all the sights I mentioned. I have lived here all my life and glad to show people around. As an UBER driver, I have had some Scots in my car in travel and taken them all over the place.
Unfortunately we didn't get to request places (although I'm glad we didn't get to, I wouldnt have chosen any of these places and loved them all). Not sure if an opportunity like that will come up again haha!
@@ErinsHoose Just sharing some information should you or other vloggers wish to visit the area. Keep up the great work with the videos, I have learned a lot about Scotland through you, Shaun, and Tammy.
I moved to Virginia from Oklahoma about 20 minutes from DC. It’s so different here. I hate how humid it is here. Even in the winter it’s humid. I miss Oklahoma. People in Oklahoma are friendly. In the DMV people can be rude.
I was born in Kenya (Africa), but my family moved to Indiana when I was a kid. The move was hard, and I wanted so badly to hate Indiana. I planned to move back to Kenya as soon as I was old enough to… but I fell in love with the state and now I’m 23, living right downtown in Indianapolis, and loving it!! 😊💛 …oh, and the location at minute 15:48 has a farmers market where I sell corn every Saturday in the summer! 😆 loved seeing your Scottish perspective on the place I’ve learned to love! 😊
I'm glad you liked Indiana. I love it here... three seasons out of four. I don't like winter anywhere. by the way... you sound like the cast from "Still Game'. Love that show.
I am finally getting the chance to visit the UK! In 2023 I am chaperoning for my 17 year old sister on her educational tour. First stop Dublin, next Hollyhead, then London! I have never been so geeked about anything. Our main country wanting to visit has always been Scotland and sucks that it's not one of the stops, but close enough. We will do a separate independent trip to Scotland someday. Can't wait!
Very interesting! Glad again you had a good time! John Mellencamp is great! Would be Interested in hear more about some of the differences and similarities between Scotland and the US. Cultural interchanges are so very interesting! Thanks for making this video! Enjoyed it!
@8:21 - as someone who's from Indiana (45 minutes north and west of Indy), welcome to America... it's the way we are. pick out the one thing you want to pick apart and destroy and ignore the rest!! You're either 100% with me (on everything) or my hated enemy! *sigh*
Wow, you got a trip sponsored by the US Embassy? That is super impressive! Congrats!! And yeah, having grown up in the Midwest, people are *so* so friendly there. Such a great aspect of that part of the country. Maybe you will have a chance to go to Washington DC someday when it's not humid and you're not all jet lagged. It really does have some amazing sights. Some of my favorites are the Hope diamond, the Wright brothers airplane, the "Luncheon of the boating party" by Renoir (the famous one where everyone is looking at someone else), the Constitution, etc. Of course everyone will have their own favorites :)
I missed your earlier vlogs, have to go back and watch em. Glad you enjoyed the trip and people were good to you. Hope you can come back and see some more. Come down south! A lot of us have Scottish blood, and you would recognize a lot of place names. But don’t come in the summer... D.C. humidity is beginner level compared to what we have in Georgia. Thanks for sharing!
I'm glad the weather was so good in Indiana when you were here - I missed that part on the original vlogs. It doesn't get as humid as Washington DC does, but it can be pretty gross here sometimes. Indianapolis is a different city partly because it's so spread out (even in US terms) and doesn't have a ton of people, so houses tend to be bigger and a lot cheaper out here than in many other cities, it's quite an adjustment for people to see! I really enjoyed both the original vlogs and this one, looking forward to the next one as well, and hope you get a chance to come back and see more cities. It's always fun to see what someone else thinks of the city where you live!
LOL I had never seen this video til now. OMG, I can certainly relate to your hotel experience the very same thing happened to me at the Flamingo hotel in Laughlin Nevada. After a long 5 hour drive, I checked in at the front desk, received my key card and went straight up to my room. The room was all made and so I crashed on top of the bed with my clothes on thank god. I was asleep for only 10 minutes when these people came into the room and of course there was a big confusion. They called security and we all went down to the front desk, where it was found the clerk gave me the wrong room, but she didn't even apologize for the mistake, she just gave me another room and key. I went up to my new room and the key(s) did not work! I went back down, talked to her for a bit before asking for the manager who apologized profusely, he said he would make it right and he did. He gave me a 2 bedroom suite overlooking the Colorado River at the same rate as the cheaper room, along with a $100 voucher for gambling/restaurant and 1000 comp points on my gambling card (good for another room).
Girl I totally understand your feelin' of pure bliss when on the trip, vacations are the best...I miss travellin', I think its been a wee while since many of us travelled...your trip sounded so fun, I did watch your older videos already :)
Love this video! Based on what you said about Indy's friendly community vibe, I have a feeling you would also love Burlington, Vermont and both Portlands (Oregon and Maine)! They're super chill, progressive and friendly places. Just a tip if you ever make it across the pond again!
This video reminded me of a guy I once knew who had come here (USA) from Russia. He said they gave everybody on the plane pamphlets informing them that everybody acts happy in America... Then it went in to say it's not an act, Americans really are that happy. Lol. Apparently it was off putting to some people. He had great stories like that.

miss Erin you need to come to Texas and go to the Ft. Worth Stockyards , ive watched you for many moon and theres lots of Cowboys and Cowgirls that love your channel
Its a shame you got drug to all the memorials in DC rather than the Smithsonian and annexes they have. The memorials are nice, but the interesting sites are in the museums and theaters. You might have enjoyed that more than just the structures. Going into the federal buildings (tours) are also interesting seeing how things work. Whirlwind trips of so many places just give you a taste of an area with not as much as to absorb. My daughter got to go to New York City for a week so we looked at a smaller amount of things to see while she was back there for a seminar. Even six evenings was only touching the top layer of cities culture. Glad you had the opportunity to come experience the USA.
Oh no, we didn't get dragged anywhere lol, plus remember I missed a full day and also didn't mention everything we did in this video (although I did in the vlog). Amazing trip 🙌
Sweet trip down memory lane :) Hard to believe it's been over two years. I often find myself reminiscing about my truly unforgettable England experience in 2008. Some ways it's almost like yesterday. Have to check out Amy's channel for her vlogs. Nice shot @ 12:48 ! You inspired me to dabble in playing hoops again :)
Imagine America having a place they bring in scary animals to let the other experience, so just like back home only we call it Buchanan street 😁. Only been to the states once and yes everything felt a bit like the movies even met Michael J Fox and that just added to the “ So America is really like this”
Where'd you get that crazy US flag? It's got 61 stars on it? The US has 50 states. What are the extra 11? Puerto Rico, East Dakota, West Dakota, East Virginia, North Virginia, South Virginia, East Carolina, West Carolina, The Virgin Islands, Old Hampshire, and the District of Columbia?
Good thing you went to the US when you did. You won’t find it the same now😢. Our democracy is completely destroyed. I felt the same way when I went to scotland. I’m in Scotland!! Omg!!! Now that was a trip! You could always go on a Nessie search . I tried to do that when I was there but a sweet lady from Switzerland wouldn’t stop talking to me

I am not surprised that DC was a bad experience for you. DC is not a good representation of USA. Lots of crooks and liars there with all the politicians and also high crime. Indy is a Big Ten state in the Midwest and you will find that experience at most of the Big Ten states. (Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, Illinois and my home state of Wisconsin) We hear that all the time. Glad you had a fun time. Too bad you didn’t get a chance to see any of the Great Lakes. Most people are amazed by how big they are when they see them for the first time. If you ever come back come to Wisconsin and see Lake Michigan or Superior. Also try a brat. Indiana is basketball country and they are called Hoosiers. Check out the movie Hoosiers it’s a true story about a small town High School basketball team.
Yep we learned all about the hoosiers. Also, I tried to stress in this video that I didn't have a bad time in dc at ALL? I absolutely loved my experience there. I'd even like to experience more of it.
Might join a basketball team tbh
