  • Dr. Maryemma Graham is a Distinguished Professor of English at The University of Kansas. Her latest book, The House Where My Soul Lives: The Life of Margaret Walker (Oxford University Press), features new insights in the life of Chicago poet Margaret Walker. Walker was part of the African-American literary movement in Chicago known as the Chicago Black Renaissance.
    Dr. Graham will discuss her scholarship and research about Walker with Dr. Melba Boyd, Distinguished Professor of African American Studies at Wayne State University. Dr. Boyd is an award-winning author of 13 books, nine of which are poetry.
    The Detroit Public Library's Author Series Committee is proud to host Dr. Graham and Dr. Boyd. Copies of The House Where My Soul Lives will be available for purchase at the event courtesy of Source Booksellers, located in Midtown Detroit.
    This in-person discussion took place on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. and was also simulcast on Zoom.
