Hi Andy I have tears rolling down my face watching your videos, they are so funny. You definitely have a way with words mate . Please keep up the good work. Thanks Trev
Those forest roads remind me of _many_ of the roads here. Freeze/thaw and a 100F temperature range play absolute hell with the roads. Same with the overbanding. You just get used to it after a while. Love the series Andy & Smokey. Once again I feel I'm right there with you.
Yeah that kind of weather swing can’t be good for the tarmac. And conversely, I suppose they can’t resurface ever year. There’d be even MORE roadblocks!! Thanks for coming along mate!!
Andy the amount of effort you put into these videos is awesome!!! I love the music, love the way you interplay with the Drone, and your coms are spot on buddy - funny and informative - I know I'm years behind still but loving this a real piece of art!!!
Andy i have to admit your vids are awesome. Soon i will follow in your footsteps and travel on my bike across europe. Thank you for inspiring me. I wish you all the best.
Absolutely! We were buggering about looking in one direction at the weird clouds, while that monstrosity was creeping up behind us! VERY strange weather!
Thanks very much! I’ve sometimes wondered about the feasibility of re-releasing some of the older tours. I imagine there are many who still have no idea that they are even there!

Ok so what's the final verdict on the Garmin 360? I had issues with my Zumo in Spain, ended up couldn't trust it and relied on wombles IPhone.. Very tempted to get the 360 as love those panoramic shots
Funnily enough we binned off the Zumo as well. We also couldn’t trust that it wasn’t going to change our planned route or take us through random villages because the route was 2 metres shorter! Sadly the VIRB 360 wasn’t all joy and jingles either. A lot of the footage is unusable because either the lens steamed up on the inside or the sensors went super-screwy and the stabilisation thought the horizon should be at 45 degrees or just not work at all. Also no matter how much I cleaned the lenses (inside and out) it still always seemed that they were dirty! Finally the software is a disaster. It took around 6 hours for my 6 core Xeon workstation to import a 5.7K video into the app. Then it would crash consistently, all the while being a nightmare to operate. Finally the export would then take another 6 hours. Worst of all, the bitrates of the original video and the various processing steps were so wildly mismatched that it was impossible not to either end up with a crazily oversized video or lose some quality along the several necessary steps. You may have noticed that the clips in this vid aren’t stabilized because I binned the Garmin app & 360 altogether and just used the 180 degree views with a bit of anti-fisheye effect in Vegas Pro. Oh and the colours are terrible. I’ve never had to do so much work to footage to make the colours and contrast look half way normal. In dull light the footage became really dull and soft and in bright light, the reds just went utterly nuts!! All in all, i was VERY glad to send it back and even more glad that I didn’t drop 600€ on it!!
@@AndyManCam ok thanks for the honest feedback I will pass then.. seems it's all ways the app / software which let these things down in the end. If only you could run Google maps on the Zumo hardware would be perfect!! 😁
Thanks Paul! If memory serves, it was called ‘Schauinslandstrasse’. So avoid that like the plague. Looks amazing on the map, but likely to get you in hot water with the local law enforcement!!

Hi Andy. It's a real backup for me because I was born in Forbach some years ago ans was living on Stiring Wendel (20' 59) during my youth. And I lives in Germany near Freiburg during 4 years in Breisach am Rhein. So the Schartzwald IS not unknown for me. The forbidden roads still existed due to many accidents involved bikers and because of the noise too. Too many bikers thought that this part of Wurtemberg was a race track. But they get round the problem by going over the border in the Vosges moutain and create the same annoyances. So the french Gendarmerie and the Germany Polizei made a joint force many week ends in order to prevent accidents and stopped the rally ! About your Gps problem : buy a Map and a compass you will never lose !! Personnally I use my phone with many software. No any is perfect, but I have to admit that Google Map is not so bad. You Can prepare your trip on your desktop or your laptop and export the link by mail to the smartphone. Thanks for sharing ride safe. And next time go to the Vosges, it's a nice place.
Hi Clint! It is a real shame that some bikers spoil it fir others. But also seems that when idiot car drivers have accidents, they don’t get banned!! 😉 I’ll definitely give the Vosges a gi next time. Also seems that the best way to beat the restrictions is to try and ride on a weekday!! 😎
@@AndyManCam I see more "idiot" bikers than I see "idiot" car drivers. Or rather they both display different kinds of idiocy. Of course you are a competent rider. But you are at times close to pushing it a bit much, and you seem COMPLETELY unaware that people around these roads live there and are entitled to some peace occasionally, which is why riding on certain roads have been banned. I can tell by your withering comments about other road users that you consider yourself superior, but that is an illusion resulting from simply having a higher power to weight ratio. Please SLOW DOWN on your rides, because you might well be one of those "bikers that spoil it for others".

@@AndyManCam No it is not the joy police. You know perfectly well why. People are sick and tired of endless lines of bikers treating rural landscapes as their own selfish, personal track day. THAT IS WHY there are bans. Your "joy" at hacking your way around the twisties might just be the denial of "joy" for other people, inhabitants, children, walkers, horse riders, cyclists, farmers, etc. And I AM a biker - though not a tribal one, nor possessed of the arrogance that is UNAWARE of other people's rights to enjoy these beautiful landscapes in their own way.

Haha! I enjoy every chance to get my hands on chicks... I agree though, you find more interesting things and places when you just wing it and get lost. Sometimes... 🤣
@@AndyManCam That "sometimes" usually happens to me when I need the toilet badly. Was on the freeway this summer desperately clenching my buttocks in search of a throne that was open. A real life game of thrones.
Cheers Stuart. Sadly, if one didn’t edit these videos snappily then they’d each be several hours long and nobody would watch them except for the hardcore fans!!
One of the reasons why motorcycles are banned in these areas at certain times is precisely because of what you are doing. Fun though the twisties are, this area is absolutely festooned with bikers (often with after-market loud exhausts), beating up the B roads day in, day out and people get utterly sick of them. Now, imagine that you lived in these areas yourself. How would you feel about endless lines of powerful bikes hacking their way on the limit outside your home endlessly? You rightly appreciate the stunning landscape and that's great. But you don't seem to stretch your imagination to consider what it would be like for you if your home, walks, peace, existence was permanently disturbed. You can book trackdays all over UK and Europe and get your twisties fix. Rural rides are for the enjoyment of everyone. It's not your personal race track. It will reach a point where all bikes will be permanently banned (or maybe over a certain cc) because half of the navigable Alps and other regions are now over-run with loud, fast, bikes. Please be sensible. Everyone on two wheels needs to be aware that they are pushing their luck. Ride safe, and slower, and make less noise. The countryside is for everyone to enjoy.
I completely appreciate all of your points. But surely the authorities are going about it all in a ham fisted and blunt force way? It's also a strong example of the many being punished for the transgressions of the few. I would wager that the majority of the bikers in Germany have stock, or well silenced exhausts. You only hear the loud ones so it is assumed that ALL bikers have loud bikes. The fair and sensible way to deal with the problem would be to control the noise that bikes are making. That way only those with excessively loud machines will be faced with the choice to reduce their racket, or not ride on the good roads. I for one would gladly ride a quiet bike on amazing roads! But of course it is far easier to just ban ALL bikes than it is to actually police and enforce noise emmission laws, and so that is what happens. The countryside IS for everyone to enjoy and most bikers know this. I for one always ride through residential areas in a high gear, at low revs to keep the noise down. I also don't destroy the speed limits when the police aren't watching. Yet I, and all others like me (yourself included) are punished for the actions of those few that don't have this consideration in mind. The law makers are being lazy and the majority of decent people are suffering.

@@AndyManCam That "sometimes" usually happens to me when I need the toilet badly. Was on the freeway this summer desperately clenching my buttocks in search of a throne that was open. A real life game of thrones.
Nothing like the call of the wild to really put pressure on your navigating decisions!!
@@AndyManCam 😂
explore the world with garmin... you will go where you dont ever think to go 😂
😂 So very true! Never a dull trip. Never the trip you hoped for, but never dull!

One really does over indulge with the editing, doesn't one, good stuff though.
And do motorcycles get a break on their road use taxes or is that ignored too in the blanket restrictions that are just not reasonable?
