14:10 this is what it's all about, right here. My first was Bierstadt, but when I came down, I had this exact moment. I've done five now, and I get that same feeling every time - holy shit, I was just ALL THE WAY UP THERE. You managed to perfectly capture the element of fourteeners that sucks us in and keeps us coming back for more.
Thank you so much, I am so glad you liked the video. It’s tough to try to film cinematic footage while hiking and climbing, but these are memories we’ll have forever. Nothing like bagging a 14er
Great video! Thanks so much for sharing your climb. My dad did this route back in the 70s when the Park Service strung the cables every summer and it was the only way up. I did the Keyhole route in the post-cables era and it was still a beast. So cool to see this perspective!
25 years.... soloed this. memories of youth.................. then there was the attempt in Feb. partner wanted a winter accent. we camped in the boulder field.... snow storm prevailed and we bailed. Few months later and I went back up myself. always wondered what the keyhole was about.
Hey Mark! So yes you can climb up to the boulder field of Long’s from chasm lake, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re looking for a climbers route. You would go via Camel Gully, but it is very loose scree and sketchy. I would recommend hiking the Chasm/ Long’s trail to the split junction and go right around the north side of Mount Lady Washington. This is the most direct and accessible hiking route
2:50 AM on a Tuesday and the lot is almost full. The a-holes who run RMNP need to fix this. People pay taxes to maintain the park and want to use this feature, so make MORE parking.
The shots of the beginning of the hike, headlamps still on, and the sunrise on the horizon are so cool
Thanks man, always the best parts of the hike, even if it is the worst video quality 😂
Great time to start for lots of reasons .

Awesome video! Really enjoyed watching. I'm headed to RMNP soon, and plan to hike to Chasm Lake for the first time. Be safe out there guys!

How many mile to base of the climb 🧗♀️
I believe 6ish
I've hiked up to Chasm Lake, how do you know where the trail goes from there? Are there markers?

Not at the lake , look at a map and trail descriptions .
This video makes me frustrated about how obnoxiously flat Florida is (where I’m living temporarily) 😂
Hopefully not for long! Mountains need you

Gotta wait til late September to get this one unfortunately
Where is the woman who usually accompanies you?
Haha my girlfriend Bri wasn’t with us on this one! But hoping we can do a video of us on the Keyhole route up Long’s one of these days!
