I’ve got to say, with how common and popular it is to have loud music over your videos, the fact that Candide Thovex is putting these edits out with nothing but the sounds of him skiing is pretty groundbreaking. Not that it’s never been done before but it’s more so pointing out that something as pure is skiing doesn’t need to be broadcasted with extra fluff. As it said in other UA-cam comments on this video, this edit is truly simple and highlights the aspects of skiing I truly love.
I appreciate the lack of music. For me that's what I love about it. The silence, nothing but the sound of skis on snow. Absolute serenity. The skiing absolute perfection. 10/10

@@bartholemew4362 don't get me wrong, that double back was absolutely huge - but the technical aspect of bombing moguls and not eating shit like Candide did here is truly special. the split second decisions to absorb with/push out your legs is crazy. it was the only moment of the video that got me to laugh out loud in amazement, even though everything in this clip is some of the raddest skiing the world has ever seen.

I been watching Sking on TV since 1974 and this is mind blowing to see how far the sport has been pushed. This is amazing and it is shocking how many times the man puts himself in real danger. I am truly impressed
Tbh skis themselves have changed dramatically. I learnt to skinin the early 1990’s and skis of today are about a million times easier to ski on than the one of thirty years ago.
I have to agree with you Richard! The double gainer over the house and the twists were on a next level that I have never seen before! The perfect X on his skis was very impressive! I am not a skier… was to poor growing up. My dad kept me in rags and I had to work my ass off! Even after I got hurt in the United States Navy he refused to really help me. When he died I was told he had well over 300K saved up? No idea I never saw a penny of it which is fine by me! What I have I have earned! When your very blood hates you and does everything they can do keep you down! Yes my family, dad, brother and sister, minus my mom signed and swore under oath that I was faking it but there was to much medical evidence that provided them wrong! They put a lot of pressure on mom but she never broke! Dad’s gone, 11 months there about after mom died of cancer he supposedly offed himself? I spent $7500 to get my 1/3 of mom’s settlement from her cancer settlement. Some of the best $$$ I have ever spent in my lifetime! I picked the right man to do the job! @$250 per hour in 2005/~07? I think? Pain meds make remembering anything impossible! All I know and care about is he got the job done and I didn’t have to do anything else dealing with my so called brother and sister! They wanted it all or most of it. They got everything else and that’s fine with me! Thank goodness I don’t have to have anything else to do with them nor their offspring! Because of my military service I am one very hard man to find! Thank goodness for that! I am so hard to find my drivers license doesn’t work when the cops run it! My tags works for law enforcement and my social security number… then they both are followed with a call when ran… As far as I know there are No pictures of my ugliness is on the internet… Here I thought I was full of spit and piss when I was younger! Well this man just showed me up! My hats off to you sir if your reading this! You truly have a big set of 50# brass 🥜!
I would say it's mostly the recording equipment that got so much better, cheaper and smaller. All you need is a cheap action cam (300 euro) and a drone (500 euro) to make the most insane shots in 4k anywhere on the mountain - something that wasn't possible just 15 years ago, even though ski equipment hasn't changed that much. It the 70s you would need a 35mm cine camera, with a helicopter to get anything remotely comparable.
This is what i want from action sports filmmaking. No weird glitchy edits, no awful fisheye lenses, no corporate EDM blasting, just the sound of the equipment and some legit skiing
Was just recently watching some Jesper Tjader and Marcus Eder's tip-of-the-hat to Candide's One of Those Days series...but with all due respect, there is something special about the way Candide Thovex skis. He has an extraordinary control of his feet--his skis never seem to chatter. And the strength he has, as seen by him plowing full-tilt through an extend mogul field...I do not see how his joints just keep going. He has a balance and gracefulness at high speed that is unique as well. There are a lot of great skiers out there. But this man is unique in my opinion.
Dude is the greatest of all time.. Not beating records, but in terms of watching someone ski no one compares. He even broke is back in the early 2000’s.. came back ten years later and took the ski world (and the world I suppose) by storm with the Audi commercials. And even all the other clips since then.
Neat how long this guy's been at the forefront, while generations of new skiers have come in and out of the spotlight. When I was like 12 he was one of the old-school skiers. Now even more so, yet he still has figured out how to put himself at the forefront of the sport with these creative edits these last few years. Impressive af

Just got done watching this video and I said out loud, “time to pack up my skis and hit the mountains”. And the double back flip over the cabin…well I shouldn’t use those expletives in the comments. Made my jaw drop.
As someone who sits at home all my life, I sometimes forget that stuff like this is even possible and that people just do this as a hobby. I cannot physically imagine ever being able to do this kind of this, insane skill, keep living the dream 💪
The difference in skill and athleticism among all of human kind is actually quite amazing. Comparing the lifestyle of a sedentary person to this skier, for example, it's almost like they're different species
I live in Colorado and ski frequently. By Colorado standards I am an OK skier. At 56 getting older, but I can get down double blacks, maybe not pretty, but I can get down them. And I still feel the same way you do watching this video, it seems beyond human capabilities, but obviously some talented, skilled and practiced humans can do it. Amazing.
I remember seeing the video of Candide straight airing the hip at super park in early 2000s and it blew my frickin mind. Now hes making making these videos that are truly creative works of art. Best skier ever.

@@mlcbconf There are two ways to take moguls : either extremely slow or extremely fast. The worst way is middle speed ! Slow one is safer though - but Candide has no « slow » button
@@justforviewing2 I do both - skis and snowboard. In a mogul field, in my heydays, I would have tried a straight fast line on skis, weighing 60kg helped. Now at 51 years old and 25 more kg, I would gently slide by till the next terrace having a coffee :-) On snowboard however, young or old, I’d stay away at all costs and at any age !
It's both simple and of great quality. All the shots are amazing, some of them are incredible. At every new video there is something I've never seen before (although I don't pretend I've seen everything :p), so creative. Big up Candid et l'équipe !
