I’ve got to say, with how common and popular it is to have loud music over your videos, the fact that Candide Thovex is putting these edits out with nothing but the sounds of him skiing is pretty groundbreaking. Not that it’s never been done before but it’s more so pointing out that something as pure is skiing doesn’t need to be broadcasted with extra fluff. As it said in other UA-cam comments on this video, this edit is truly simple and highlights the aspects of skiing I truly love.

I have to agree with you Richard! The double gainer over the house and the twists were on a next level that I have never seen before! The perfect X on his skis was very impressive! I am not a skier… was to poor growing up. My dad kept me in rags and I had to work my ass off! Even after I got hurt in the United States Navy he refused to really help me. When he died I was told he had well over 300K saved up? No idea I never saw a penny of it which is fine by me! What I have I have earned! When your very blood hates you and does everything they can do keep you down! Yes my family, dad, brother and sister, minus my mom signed and swore under oath that I was faking it but there was to much medical evidence that provided them wrong! They put a lot of pressure on mom but she never broke! Dad’s gone, 11 months there about after mom died of cancer he supposedly offed himself? I spent $7500 to get my 1/3 of mom’s settlement from her cancer settlement. Some of the best $$$ I have ever spent in my lifetime! I picked the right man to do the job! @$250 per hour in 2005/~07? I think? Pain meds make remembering anything impossible! All I know and care about is he got the job done and I didn’t have to do anything else dealing with my so called brother and sister! They wanted it all or most of it. They got everything else and that’s fine with me! Thank goodness I don’t have to have anything else to do with them nor their offspring!
Because of my military service I am one very hard man to find! Thank goodness for that! I am so hard to find my drivers license doesn’t work when the cops run it! My tags works for law enforcement and my social security number… then they both are followed with a call when ran…
As far as I know there are No pictures of my ugliness is on the internet…
Here I thought I was full of spit and piss when I was younger! Well this man just showed me up! My hats off to you sir if your reading this! You truly have a big set of 50# brass 🥜!

I would say it's mostly the recording equipment that got so much better, cheaper and smaller.
All you need is a cheap action cam (300 euro) and a drone (500 euro) to make the most insane shots in 4k anywhere on the mountain - something that wasn't possible just 15 years ago, even though ski equipment hasn't changed that much.
It the 70s you would need a 35mm cine camera, with a helicopter to get anything remotely comparable.

Was just recently watching some Jesper Tjader and Marcus Eder's tip-of-the-hat to Candide's One of Those Days series...but with all due respect, there is something special about the way Candide Thovex skis. He has an extraordinary control of his feet--his skis never seem to chatter. And the strength he has, as seen by him plowing full-tilt through an extend mogul field...I do not see how his joints just keep going. He has a balance and gracefulness at high speed that is unique as well. There are a lot of great skiers out there. But this man is unique in my opinion.
