This is so true in Bits Pilani as well. We had one open book paper in EEE branch, and we all took unlimited notes, and had average marks of 6 out of 40, where topper got just 14 marks! 😅

During my time, 2011, there was Prof. DB Phatak in CS101. He used to take open book exam.... You can carry any 🎉hard copy note book etc., but marks aate the 2.5 to 5 out of 50. But, there was some students who have scored 54 out of 50 (woh log bonus bhi solve kar dete the)😮

Ha bhai mujhe bhi yaad hai meri time mein thermo mein topper ke 30 mein se 12 number aaye the thermodynamic mein jo ko fundamental course hota hai 🥲.
We also had few such courses like analog electronics, robot dynamics , digital signal processing. Open book test yet the scores were low.
