Scams seem to become more and more common and it's something they should start teaching about in schools tbh.
For me, the worst is when they scam elderly people out of all their money. I can't fathom how someone can be so cruel as to ruin someone else's life like that, especially when they are at the end of their lives and want to live a calm and pleasant life in most cases :,(
Yes it really is a terrible crime, to take everything someone has!
Yes, I was thinking too that schools should teach this
Our most difficult times teach us soooo much. Wisdom comes with age and life experience. Making it through hardships builds our character.

Someone I know lost all her saving to scam, $1.8m, she is 70 , so sad... These scammers don't believe that karma will knock on their door on fine day...

Yes, there is so much scamming and fraud in society today on so many levels.
Oh George, I am so sorry! I got scammed too even tho I thought I was pretty savvy.
But they are so good at it! Don’t feel stupid.
This two-step scam seems a pretty recent development.
Yesterday somebody told me not to confuse "emotional state" with your own self... the state will change (as occurs with everything), but your real being, remains standing high...

We have all had our ups and downs . The worst thing I ever did was to stop my practices. I fell back into severe anxiety and then developed debilitating social anxiety. I am doing much better now even though I have only been practicing daily for two months. I will never again stop my practices as they pulled me out of a decade plus long severe depression. May you you heal and I wish all of you reading this happiness, health, joy, peace, longevity and abundance ☯️☸️☯️
Your description of resistance to emotion is resonating so much with me-- have been actively observing and easing up on the resistance i feel to all sorts of behaviors and the emotions behind them, in both myself and others. I think this is a beautiful moment for the world, as we realize that the eyes we have had turned outwards for our whole lives are actually always reflecting ourselves back to us. At least, I don't think I'm the only one undergoing that process

Thank you so much for your sincerity and wisdom George. I’ve been suffering from intense anxiety to the point where I have indigestion every time I eat. But listening to your soothing voice and nuggets of advice really helped me calm down so I could enjoy my lunch break :)
This video was really well written and such a helpful lesson. It's so hard to have felt emotionally and spiritually balanced at one point, engaged with healthy and diligent practices, and then to fall off and find yourself mired in distractions and distress.. I have been struggling with this greatly.
I think you're right that it's just life though, there will always be a cyclical quality and variation in us, but not many video channels ever actually show what that variation can look like. This was incredibly healing for me to watch today, thank you for sharing!

Really appreciate your honesty and sharing the lessons that helped you grow back from such a big shock. Your channel and learning about Daoism has helped me with some very stressful work challenges the past week, and the news of Akira Toriyama passing brought me back to a quote that's lifted my spirits back up: "Saying goodbye is never easy, but it is a necessary step before we can say hello again." The shocks and stress that disrupt our peace force us to say goodbye to calmer days from the past, but with each new day that the sun rises, I say hello and try to welcome it with as much love for myself and others as I can, and that mindset brings me back to a much more positive place.

I am so sorry that you had to go through this George. Scams are everywhere now a days and they look so legit that it is hard to tell. I get so many scam phone calls, texts and emails. I even fell for one myself many years ago. So you are most diffidently not alone. I am already a member of your academy and Master Gu academy and I am learning so much through both. Thank you for doing both. You will never know how much they have actually helped me after several emotional blows the past few years.

I'm sure that something big (spiritual speaking) will come out from all of this event. Sometimes "rare/mean" things occur without a reason, however, these are events to test your inner being, so if you can overcome them, you will be even bigger my friend.

We are often taught to repress our emotions and feelings or to replace negative thoughts with positive ones but from you I have learned it is part of being human and a part of the process. I really admire your resilience and your ability to accept the pain you were experiencing. That we must pay attention to our needs and say that it is okay to be feeling this way, it is okay to receive help, and as humans it is vital to feel connected and understood. Life will present us with challenges such as what you experienced with manipulation but we have to remember we always have resources available both within ourselves and with externals. Stay strong

your vieos from the wudan mountain are so uplifting to all of us. your narration of the stories of zuangzi are so very fresh...that is what you have done with your money...those worms that stole it will most likely spend it on drink, money or on some other path down to the metaphorical hell....let it be on them

I am really sorry to hear what happened to you . But this can happen to anyone , the scammers trying their luck with me also but am trusting to my instincts and can usually sense... This bad event and what you had endured or perhaps you are -still enduring - could actually bring more wisdom into your life ... Good luck George . I still need to watch more of your vids and just do more homework on Dao but only after a few days my depression and sadness have not come back. You're a wonderful person. Wow - such a profound experience in loss and gain! A friend of mine once said this: „Never take gain or loss to heart.“ I think she means that even if money or other forms of welcome energy flow in, we should not place much importance on that, and the same of course with regard to so-called losses. Heard to accept, though, and I am totally with you on the self-guilting/shame trip. Been there, myself, albeit in slightly less impactful ways. Anyhow, this video is an important contribution to viewerkind, and would not have come into existence but for your predicament. All is right as it is, and things tend to work themselves out somehow, as you have been experiencing. Beautiful. Also amazing that this video should be exactly 11:11 long. ;-)

Events such as these are truly unfortunate. However, remember there is no good and bad. Although right now it may seem to be world-endingly bad, it happened for a reason. That reason is the catalyst - a catalyst you didn't know you needed - for further spiritual growth.
Feeling anguish is human nature. I, myself, am going through a great deal of despair. It's difficult living a life surrounded by people and things who you've never truly resonated with. They're so close physically, yet also feel so far spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.
Nevertheless, if these "negative" emotions didn't exist, then we would've never decided to incarnate here. Life in this world is purely experiantial. In the "future", we will all eventually come to laugh at our past grievances and move on to the next lesson our true soul takes us to.
So sorry George! I fell for the same scam but luckily realized as soon as I gave my card and cancelled it. They seem to know the worst time to hit you like when you are out of town. Thank you for sharing your process! 🙏🏻❤️

I personally left the spiritual groups because their minds were to immersed into looking spiritual instead of BEING spiritual.

So sorry to hear this, George. Losing your money like that is so so hard. Damn. But, I guess, this reminds me that the more we have, the more we have to lose. We come from scratch, and deliberately or through vicissitude, we will go back to scratch.

Yeah getting scammed sucks.. I got a couple of years ago. Now this year... Just before watching this video, I've thinking back on what's happened so far in 2024. Trying to start my own business with friends. And 3 months into the new year, they just seemed to have bailed on the idea. And I'm left struggling financially, just to try and keep the dream alive. My girlfriend still fully supports me. Even as she faces her own financial and emotional difficulties. We have to be there for each other. We are here to learn and to teach ☯️

@@George-ThompsonI remember when you talked about the beginning of your journey. When you set out to go down a path that was different from your age peers who went on to go to University. And something motivated you to go on the adventure to China. Your showed your first Tai Chi practices, how your body was not used to the flexibility but got more trained and how your mind became the alumni of the Master who thanks to you was able to reach a wide audience, one speaking a different language and coming from a different cultural heritage, living in a fast-paced Western world where many are focused on the material and out of tune with our spiritual connection and essence.
In your videos I saw the gift that you have in living out your intuition, in following your inner guide, in allowing yourself to be a medium of learning, of growth, of transcendence, guided by the intuition that this is indeed your path. You captured yourself being authentic, being yourself, being human, being kind-hearted. The glimpse of romance when you connected with the girl at the monastery, the joy when you arrived back after a long and adventurous crossing of multiple countries. You were able to capture these moments and tell a narrative through these images that goes beyond the words and explanations and teachings that you may have voiced. And it is those moments that stay with people, that help connect them to their own humanness, that prevail in the memory despite the thousands of hours of other content watched on youtube or elsewhere.
And yet, once you have returned and get somewhat removed from the place of your spiritual connection, it is easy to get lost. It is easy to stray from your essence, to build a façade and believe in it, to wear a mask that covers seeming imperfections, weaknesses, not-so-enlightened parts of being - when these were the parts that helped people connect.
You are flooded with videos on how to be strategic, how to instrumentalise and corrupt yourself to produce content that drives an increase in clicks, in eyeballs in visibility. The ego would love that because it creates a sense of importance, of finally having arrived, of being the master you aspire to be, of having overcome suffering - eternally. And what gets lost on the way? Perhaps love. Perhaps authenticity, perhaps the connection to your essence, perhaps the connection to the path, to yourself, to growth, to those close to you. May you be well George.
