I’ve heard that Tobolsk is really worth the detour and I’m happy I chose to devote a whole day to it, absolutely loved it (despite the chilly weather)!
Really interesting to see one of the final homes of the Romanovs...I had no idea it was still in existence, and in such an interesting location! As always, safe travels!
It was very very interesting indeed, and weird, too, on one hand it’s still luxurious compared to any other regular house those days but on the other hand it was definitely not a palace, and the restrictions were pretty tight, they weren’t allowed to leave the house, they were doing some of the housekeeping themselves like cutting wood.
Finally, in the beautiful Toboslk, another pearl in Siberia. The Kremlin, with all those nice angels, is gorgeous. I don't agree with any kind of "death penalty" (Portugal was one of the first countries in the world to abolish Death Penalty, and we were proud of it). In the case of Tsars, it was worse because there were children involved. Every regime has stains, and this is one of them. I think it was a decision of a local Soviet but I forgot the details. Anyway, unacceptable Speaking about nicer things,. Tobolsk town itself is beautiful. Very good decision to come here. Well, it seems you will be approaching BRICS summit in Kazan.😂 I will be there in spirit 100%. I want a multipolar world where one part shall be constructive in opposition to aggressive policies from the other side. Sorry for this incursion in politics, but the haters made me also a hater, of countries that can not live without wars. In a depriment world, your smile and sympathy worths gold. I hope you always keep this mood Good luck.
I’m against death penalties as well, and I’m also against revolutions or abrupt regime changes. Russia had two of them over a century. It takes lots of time and suffering to re-build the country after such a change. I lived through the 90s, it was horrible. Communism wasn’t perfect but it was nowhere near the total disaster and collapse of the 90s. At least in my opinion.
@alyoka.travels 100% agreed. I am sure that 90 decade was terrible,. There is no comparison with anything. No Russian people would like to return to those days, but I see a lot (mainly old generation) missing the old days of communism.
Life during communism had a lot of advantages for the low/middle class, like free education and medical care, and somewhat equal rights (although there of course existed the elites and corruption). One could get an apartment or a room to live in subsidized by the government - unimaginable these days. And many other things, which are hard not to miss. But then again there were a whole lot of “disadvantages”.
Thank you for sharing the architecture and history, a beautiful place - and what a sunset! Golden hour for sure...
After it was cloudy and gloomy weather the whole day, that sunset was like a gift and the true cherry on top! Perfect end to an amazing day 🥰
Awesome video! I am happy your eyes are better. Tobolsk is a beautiful city for sure. Much history. I really enjoyed this. I loved the angels. Best!

How amazing that entrance to the Kremlin. And the kremlin itself; how fantastic!!!
And the view from it! Above my expectations as well, such a beautiful place!

I just don’t film the ugly places (I’m kidding of course 😁).
