So just to clarify for people who are confused on why it looks so easy as from the recent shrouded spoils kraken buff and him being able to attack all ship types he is of course very dumped down for the sloop he won’t really be that aggressive and will pretty much always leave about half way through the fight the amount of time he is there will only very depending on how efficient you are at taking down his tentacles meaning when it plays the dramatic music as it goes down however on the brig and galleon his aggressiveness and the amount of time will increase sorry for the mega paragraph I’m just really interested in the kraken in this game and I practically study it
I thank you for taking the time to write this, it certainly taught me something new today and I'm always very open to learning and improving my knowledge.
I welcome your comment as I didn't know these things, I feel everyone should know this as it'll help them, like myself, understand more and grow as a player!

@@GooseDG If you’re feeling confident you can hit the head of the tentacles to instakill the tentacles and once you get them all you should’ve killed it.
Thanks for this! I didn’t know you had to just take down tentacles and survive! Next time when I go on a grinding session and get caught by the Kraken, I will be prepared!

When the kraken hugs your boat shoot the closest tent iCal with the cannon and it will release
Came here after I died because of a kraken after I was almost done with the third tall tale. Some dude was near me and said I was the worst pirate ever because I couldn't beat it. After I died I looked for a video like this to prove this guy wrong the next time a kraken attacks me. Thank you for your video.
Until I realized how to beat it I also lost many times, that pirate sounds like he needs to be hit by the plank let alone walk it!! :D

Watching this now after facing the kraken for the first time today, we had been looking for ashen keys for our chest and it sunk us.

How we survived it the first time was to stay in the cabin. That way you don't get sucked up. We didn't use the canons, we only used our sniper rifles. One kept repairing and one kept firing. When the one wasn't repairing, we were both shooting. We escaped it. Only wish I knew about raising the sails to get rewards. I'll keep this in mind next time when shooting the roots. We took a lot longer than you did though. Nice video

@@GooseDG Why thank you! I actually kept getting sucked up the first time and tried cannons, but I almost died and then I just decided to stay inside with the other guy. I could see he was a very experienced player. I think if you were to try it you might get impatient. It took long and your method works and is quicker. Thanks again. I think after the first time everyone beats the kraken they lose a big amount of fear of it
I bought the game 2 days ago and it's really getting annoying how the entire ocean seems to be filled with giant sea monsters and skeleton crewed gallions all waiting until I'm trying to get booty back to an outpost to gank me... I don't seek these encounters out but they sure do seem to seeking me!

Yesterday I and a friend saw a Skeleton Galleon, we decided to avoid it since we would have had our asses kicked in our Brigantine. I trash talked the AI for being dumb and then the Kraken showed up. After about 2 minutes I looked in fear as I saw the Skeleton Galleon being literally next to us and starts shooting WHILE the Kraken was still there.
We managed to escape the Kraken but due to lack of wood and repeated rammings by the enemy ship, our boat sunk.
Moral of the story: Don't trash talk the AI

When I first sailed out from the maiden voyage to the real pirate world, i was stalked by 2 megalodons...
I will still fear it since I'm scared of the ocean
A week ago on the first day I played I encountered “The Crested Queen” (purple meg) but I went to an island and it went away. A couple minutes later I get off the island and start sailing to an outpost, KRAKEN. I was so scared that I just left the game I couldn’t handle a megalodon AND a kraken in the same hour.
I started playing the game yesterday, got wrecked by a bigger ship off players playing jhon cena music when they entered and well.... Got free loot I guess? Day 1 not a succsess, day 2. A skeleton ship and a megalodon sank my ship, I sirvived because off mermaid this time I didn't have any loot at least. However I found a treasure map with 5 chests I did get to sell and actully afoard something, also learned how the tell tale stuff works, so I tried that fire focused one and boy... It was so much fun, all inn all I really enjoy the game, don't enjoy the pepole that want to rob me 😂😂
Did they make the ghost ships easier? Friend and I fought a galleon and sloop ghost ship. We took the sloop out in a matter of minutes and the galleon out shortly after. We ran out of cannon balls, we didn't have very many to begin with, and just rammed it til it sunk.
lol I love the "Just rammed it" tactic :D it feels like they have made some ghost ships easier, but I'm not too sure!! And sorry this took ages to reply too, UA-cam didn't notify me of this comment!!

@@GooseDG I was aiming for its head, until it sucked me. I got out, but my ship was sailing far away, and swimming in black water, with gigantic tentacles, is something that I hope not to experience again.

Just don't hope for good loot when you beat it as I've found the loot drop is pretty bad!!

So, it happened again, today. This time, I died because my ship sinked.
Today I wanted to hop on Sea of Thieves to mess around in a Galleon alone.
But I did not look to see if there were any events.
I leave Galleons Grave Outpost.
Exactly 13 seconds after I get moving, I anchor to see how to deep the water is because...fun?
Thats when it turns pith black, and I can't see anything in the water.
It takes me a moment to know whats going on.
I come out,
look down,
and see the pitch black water,
I look up,
and see it,
The Kraken.
i ran into the kraken while sailing and since i have never fought it i got sunk immediately
I just straight up soloed the kraken in the sloop... pretty fun event.
Way to go 😁 it is a lot of fun when you don't fear it and see it as free loot 😄
Good tips 🤙 have any for hunting all of the different Megs? I've killed the ancient terror (the yellow one) twice now and still have not got the patch/title for doing so.
I've got the hungering one and the crested queen ones defeated (blue and purple) but I'm not sure if I have hunt them in a certain order or ? Also, any idea best spots to find each or are their spawns 100% random?
As far as I know you don't have to do them in order! And I'm pretty sure the spawns are random as I've encountered various Megs at various places (apart from the shrouded one)
And I always use the same tactic no matter what Meg you fight 😁

I played Sea of thieves today and all the kraken did was obviously you know like rap it's tentacle around my boat but when it did that there was no holes on the bottom of my boat anywhere so there was no water getting in it just pulled my boat under the water and I lost my boat

The kraken is easy on sloops, if you want to get your commendations then just put miles on in a sloop and when you’re eventually krakened, he’s easy!

If it grabs you it'll spit you out back onto the boat. Everytime it's happened It just spat me back onto the boat

It has chance to either spit you away or slap you into the water , you were pretty lucky if it spat you back onto the ship

Is there any way of findin or searching for the kraken, so u can like farm it?
The only thing I know to look out for is the skull in the sky above a fort, and also the boat cloud, if non are present then sail around and the Kraken has a great chance to show up! If the skull or boat are in the sky then the Kraken will not turn up at all!!
our brigandine never sunk because of megalodon... it did with the kraken
i find megalodon much easier to deal with
as for the ghost ship, a fully manned brigandine can EASILY send a retarded barrage of cannons through it to the point that it will sink within 2mins of engagement, using fire bombs helps alot achieving that
therefore, to me it looks as if a SINGLE ghost ship is the easiest to deal with, followed up by megalodon and kraken, 2 or 3 ghost ships are indeed much harder

The hardest thing about the kraken is finding it
I had about 3 ashen vaults worth of loot and on the way back to morrows peak I encountered the kraken for the first time in my time of playing the game and I almost killed it and then my games crashed. So much wasted time just for me to end out like that
Pretty sure they changed this boss, just fought it today in a crew of 3 with brigantine it was going well until we run out of planks and my mates were grabbed by the tentacles i was the only one able to spam waters out of the ship, it was only 3 tentacles left but it sunked our ship :(
I've not encountered it since the latest update, if this is the fact then I'll make an updated video, thank you for letting me know 😁

Shoot the tentacles, I tried just waiting it out as I thought you could do it, but turns out you have to shoot back! On average it takes 4 cannonballs to make a tentacle go away!

Nope, just survive it, easy on a sloop, much harder on other ships.

I agree with you, at times I have moments where I think it's going to put up a fight, then I fight back and it's all over!! But I like it that way as any harder and solo would be too much!

killing the kraken solo is brain dead easy... killing it with 3 brain dead open crew members now thats the challenge

When I see the ink start to form and the music picks up, that’s usually when I call it a night and leave the game. But I’m going to try not to panic next time so I can actually finish a tall tale for once.

I just find it easier and more efficient to hit the root 😁
If you aim at the head, I’m pretty sure it’s a 1 shot arm kill.
I must have killed about 15 krakens since shrouded spoils, I find the most important thing when fighting the beast is time management, if you are managing your time correctly, you'll never sink. The kraken attacks you for periods of time then rests, don't repair while it's attacking you because you will waste wood and be pinned under deck. The kraken wraps around your ship for a limited time, don't focus on the tentacle wrapping around your ship, you lose time you could be using to deal significant damage to the kraken. When the kraken wraps around my ship, I give it a couple shots while passing by but don't focus on it. The worst thing that can happen is being knocked off or killed, if a tentacle is sucking, get under decks ASAP to eliminate any chance of being killed, you can still get plenty of damage sniping from the captains quarters. If the kraken is going for a slap, make sure you are far enough away that you don't get knocked off. It's a very satisfying fight, I much prefer it to the megalodon but once you manage your time, it's easy

At the time of recording this I was smashing the Kraken regularly, however I have found it to be a fair bit tougher now, not sure if they changed the difficulty or not?
With that said I personally still find the Kraken to be easier than Meg with maybe the occasional one being a beast to beat! 😁

I defeated a meg solo on a sloop in literally two minutes. Just raised the sail, waited for him to swim by and just before he came up on my side I threw the wheel all the way in the direction he was swimming, blasted him with 10 or 15 cannonballs and he was fucked.

Yesterday I had about 50 thousand gold worth stuff on my sloop and I only had 6 pieces of wood. It was also the first ever time I had fought it. I managed to escape and get to a nearby island to restock on stuff. I had no wood left so it was very stressful sailing because I knew if I crashed I was dead.

I fought with a friend as a 2 man crew against the kraken on the first day of playing the game. We didn't really realize that you had to shoot it with cannon balls. Just kept shooting with guns and after 20 minutes of constant fighting it still wasn't dead. Then he grabbed the boat just where the entrance to the lower levels are and we were both stuck on the deck without ammo. (We had 2 guns each) We couldnt do anything and then it was too late and it sank. If we didn't get stuck we would've been able to fight it longer and maybe kill it with only guns, but it clearly is faster with cannon balls, so I have to try that next time.

Yea I encountered the kraken while soloing a sloop and I had a villainous skull on me (second best skull)
And my ship sunk so I tried to swim to a outpost near me but there was none... I had to use a mermaid and drop the skull :(

Playing yesterday we had so much loot we straight up had a Kraken, Megladon, and Ghost Ship on us at the same time, megladon luckily went away, but we managed to get a rowboat and get all of our loot on it because we kkow kraken doesn’t target row boats, and so we legit had two guys in a rowboat swimming to an outpost and two guys bringin the new boat 😂😂
🤣 Had that happen to me ages, thankfully when we had it happen Meg decided to attack the ghost ship, it was brilliant but frantic, I think the crew needed new underpants that day!! 😂
Happened to me once, me and my crew mate somehow managed to row from the devils roar to Galleon’s Grave outpost
It is a journey I will remember

From what i understand, if the kraken grabs your boat, its better to shoot its head out in the water. I cant remember what its head looks like but look it up and youll get what im saying.

On my first day of sea of thieves. I went through everything (luckily not at the same time). I experienced a megaladon kraken and skeleton ship. Did the skull fortress thing. Sunk. Went to the Red Sea and storm. And also found a mermaid gem

Omg I recently had the most epic moment fighting the kraken I didn’t defeat it bc we had a small boat but me and a partner tried to escape and we are both noobs and we also had a lot of loot I was trying to repair for like 10 min while my teammate was fighting and trying to get away first time running away soo ya

If hes going to grab you then he will grab you! After the Kraken wraps around your ship look for a tentacle that is closer to your ship than the others, this is the end of the wrapped one, shoot it and it'll let go 👍
I did the same thing but we was in a galleon (open crew) we sank because we didnt have any wooden packs...LOL but still thank you

When he does this there should be a tentacle lower then the rest and sits next to the ship, shoot this and it'll release your ship.

That is a time limited skin, it's called a Barnacle Blunderbuss, but I understand they will be reissuing all the time limited items again some time in the future, but this isn't as far as I know 100% confirmed?

what is this repair animation?
If you press the repair button (RT/Left Mouse) and then quickly hit the aim button (LT/Right Mouse) you'll enter this animation, it's handy because it stops people hearing you build.

Thanks a lot. I just wished I saw this video before facing the bloody monster. I would have defeated it. It killed me because I did not know very much about it or how to fight it off. It took my treasure from islands, mermaid's temple and from a sunken ship. I lost it all. LOL! Hopefull I will never face it. Oh, and yes the kraken is way better than the stupid fish. I can sink a low ranked skelly ship down, but I have not tried the big one.
I've recently gotten back into Sea of Thieves and I gotta ask- have they like.. increased the probability of encountering a megalodon? Because I swear I've literally encountered 12 megalodons in one week, 2-3 krakens as a bonus. I plan on preparing my ship with wood and cannon balls every time I get on my ship, just in case. I wanna put up a fight to this damn kraken for once, I'll update this comment if I ever manage to finally beat the kraken.
