- The Green Line team spent the day with a Toronto man who shared stories of his time being homeless in the city- including what life was like for him and how he finally found housing.
Living with roommates is basically the only semi affordable option for most people these days...
Today people will have to settle for roomates. The way things are going, people will be talking about their bunk mates. The Canadian dream is dying along with the demographic of this country. Living a decent life in Canada is coming to an end. Drugs, stabbings and poverty are the new reality. Welcome to the dominion of refugee welfarism.
I'd rather work 80 hours a week than have a roommate
@@Ynalaw lol racist.
@@injusticeanywherethreatens4810 I'm a black man from Jamaica. My family came to Canada 40 years ago. I'm not sure what the racism acusation is all about. I guess if you can't construct an intelligent argument, you can always call someone racist. Does that work for you?
No it's the only way we tax payers can afford to shelter illegal immigrants and it's absolutely unfair to steal money from the hard working to take care of the lazy
This is what happens when you keep cutting services. This is only going to get worse and crime will go up.
The question is how much taxes are you willing to pay? I currently pay 58% of taxes from ALL levels of government. Will you be willing to pay 80% or maybe 90% taxes? Or maybe work for free. Question is how is the government spending my 58%. Keep voting Libtards it's only gonna get worse.
Im sure Trudeau bringing in a million illegal migrants doesn't help.
Completely agreed. I lost my mom last month to cutting services. I picked up her urn today. It was really because of no housing and poor new policies ruining ppls life's. 💔
Homelessness is a POLICY CHOICE made by our elected representatives and the people who vote for them. There is absolutely no reason in a country as wealthy as Canada for people to be living on the street or in overcrowded shelters.
But the alternative is decomodify housing and to make substantial investments in socialized housing. Sadly, no Liberal or Conservative goverment will do that, it would reduce the profits of landlords, developers and banks, their true constituents.
Or reduce the property values of home-owners who make up the vast majority of their voters and Canadians.
You dont even understand basic economics do you? If you limit how much a landlord can make they will sell that rental property to a home owner and now you have one less rental. That has been proven over and over. Smh.
@@briankroger7879 So what? The house is still being inhabited. The house doesn't just disappear.
@@Meyers1793 me and my husband own our own apartment when we plann on having our family this year we are going to rent the apartment for affordable rent. Because I come here with my parents as immigrants and I was really appreciative to the landlords that rented to us in affordable rental. Now everything is more then $1500 instead in Vancouver is $2300. I want families to succeed to they can have thier own homes too one day.
Thanks for saying this. AND YES. We should have socialized housing years ago!
Immigrant comes to Canada, can't get a job, can't get an apartment, survives off tax payer money. Checks out
There’s a lot of 3rd generation Canadian homeless people
@@richardramfire3971 I am literally a 3rd generation homeless Canadian person lol. This lerm idiot doesn't know what they're talkign about.
I’m in Alberta; cheapest rent here is 1500$ for a bachelor/1 bedroom; when I was 18 in 2011, a bachelor was 650$ utilities included.
It’s not that people don’t know how to save or be responsible; it’s that landlords and the house market takes advantage of the economy the minute it SEEMS like it’s going good. There’s no good reason to have to pay thousands of dollars for a home. It’s sickening
Amen!!!
So you think landlords should just forget about their own expenses going up on the property? Higher mortgage payments because of inflation, higher utilities because of the carbon tax, higher property taxes. You don't have a clue what you're talking about. Smh. Its basic economics. Maybe stop voting for Trudeau.
That's fking crazy. I remember 15 yrs ago was as cheap as 400-650 for nice place. That's why my friend and her husband moved out there.
I understand inflation but this is crazy prices especially when wages aren't going up!
Yes costs are going up for everyone but are wages?? NO!
@@TheDenizxo 4 years ago it was 1750$ for a 4 bedroom bungalow in a really nice area. Same house went up for rent a few months ago and it was 2300$ no Reno’s nothing. They’re taking advantage
Did this guy work a single day in ten years?
@bensky96, if he didn't so what? There are much more Caucasians, especially those running their racist mouths, in Canada who just sit at home and collect government money. They claim one disability or another when they're just lazy
It says he has income in the video.
Nop never.
Shelters are not a happy place. Treating people inhumanely results in them acting inhumanely as well, and thats how it goes, endlessly. The moral here is, human beings are inhumane.
I gotta agree with the other commenters does this man have a job. He looks like he is capable
It says he has income in the video.
This is what happens when people forgot there is a GOD not by pride and the LGBTQ and Satan
how much is his new apartment?
the gov't of Ontario has many vacant buildings that could house many of the homeless people
instead they leave them vacant
old hospitals, already equipped with bathrooms sit abandoned even the TB hospital in Muskoka was turned over to the OPP at one point
gov't looks after gov't not the people
It only took 10 years? Lucky guy.
Homes are not commodity houses are meant to be lived.
Thanks for saying the truth!
Does this melanated gentleman know that he needs to actually WORK in order to afford his own home ?
Ridiculous thing to say. You be new immigrant in Canada and now no one and have no money from back home to help u.
@@TheDenizxo the government put him in subsidized housing paid for by Canadian taxpayers, he now has an apartment to himself and is no longer homeless, if he wants to actually own his own property then he would have to work, save up money and buy his own place, what’s so ridiculous about all this ? Isn’t that how things work in real life ? Or is there an alternative universe where certain people are entitled to handouts that I’m not aware of ?
@@ImUrZaddy Deniz thinks Canadians owe him and his fellow migrants our labor. Leeches that should never be here in the first place
@@helenapawl1049 Certainly your taxpayer $$$$$.
@@email5023 which is our labor
This story is non existent for most women in the system. Also lack of employment supports and life planning disables individuals' potential so working and saving money and then buying a home is not what homeless people think.
It’s a shame of what the government is doing to the citizen. All to blame is the government that allowed the rise of Rentting price
Dougie Ford
Hes been there for 10 yrs no mentiin why he couldnt work etc.He seemed balanced n not mentally ill and he was young and still is when he arrived.Confusing?
Because he's lazy.
another invader
@briankroger7879, that's easy for some pale racist Caucasian to say I guess. But in case you didn't know, getting a job is a lot harder than you might think when you are still waiting on papers that let you work and give you some legal status in the country, when you have very little experience in the job market, and when your skin is dark.
If you don't know anything about the immigration system in Canada go read up on it. For some people, getting a work permit or even legal status in the country can take as long as 10 years
He has a place to stay almost paid for and he's still salty. This is the perfect example how the unappreciative gets the opportunity before those who could truly deserve it.
10 year wait; might as well get MAID
MAID?
Black man if you can do it, anyone one else can do it.🤣😆😂
Exactly.❤️🙏🏿🤗
There lots of space in this city just government restricts areas
What’s the main root cause of homelessness?
Landlords and the house market
corrupted policy makers and landlords 🤔🤔
Capitalism!
@@Meyers1793 My family and I escaped from Cuba. Please, if you hate capitalism so much feel free to move there..
Mental health issues is the root cause. If you can't get help for that, you can't work, some do drugs/drink. A lot of people that are homeless have disabilities and are on ODSP. ODSP doesn't pay enough to live on so they will end up homeless. And i think about half the people on ODSP are on there because of mental health issues. It would cost a lot less in the long run if we actually let people talk to a counselor for as long as they need. Even just once a month would be helpful.
Why doesn't he have a job?
amickmalice3361, ask your racist counterparts that question
Trudeaus Canada
Mousef is one of the strongest men and amazing stories I heard in long time. I cherish this peace. My middle eastern mom died in dtes 3 weeks ago. Keep fighting for your rights Mousef!
So strong he couldn't find a job and support himself?
Strong yet lazy
Homeless for a decade? Ever heard of a student loan? He could be a doctor by now. I dropped out of high school. Had a post graduate degree in less than a decade.
Ya me too. Did something similar. These people are just lazy. All they do is whine.
@Liam Duignan yawn. The guy hasn't done a thing with his life for 10 YEARS .
@Liam Duignan You don’t need savings to move when you’re homeless. One bus ticket and you’re in another city. There is zero excuse for being homeless in Canada for a decade, apart from serious mental illness, or it’s a lifestyle choice. Students don’t pay $2500 for rent, they live together in cramped spaces and do what needs doing. Now this guy’s going to sit in his subsidized apartment and do nothing for the rest of his life.
@Liam Duignan There's no excuse. If he can't afford to live on Toronto, change cities.
@Liam Duignan I agree with some of your points.
Still waiting for hand outs. Loser☕️

Everyone will be homeless and hungry if Trudeau has his way
Toronto used to be a White Mans city. We did not have these problems then.
I was homeless in T DOT in 2014
I got out in 81 .. Van Isle 100x better.
2:15 bunk beds would triple the space
