I pay $5000 for my rent in Chevy Chase, MD. I obviously live with roommates and I hope they don't see your videos. My landlord does not have a payment system and I was paying by Zelle at the beginning, then I offered the check mailed, but they didn't agree because, and I am quoting them: "our Mail system doesn't work", then I had to cheat them and mail the check to myself and hand it over to them personally. But it is very comforting to see the 5K points every month. I was wondering if you could teach us how to do it with Venmo, that would be also a good option.
hahah LOVE That for YOU!!! 5K points LFG!!! venmo you should be able to load in the account number and routing number and do a ACH transfer. Don't forget about Bilt protect as well since it's a pretty large charge each month
John, love your videos and this is a good one…but, “it’s happening” with a Bilt card on the thumbnail should be reserved for them adding mortgages haha😂
Really curious to hear what people are paying for rent! I'm reading that NY rent has come down slightly...but it's not much compared to how much it's gone up. Also NYC is not representative of the rest of the country
hey john, quick question. How does bilt 1x on rent compares to cards that gives 2x or 2 percent back on everything else cards. However, I'm not sure if those 2x/2% cards give points/cash back on rent while claiming everything else for 1.5 to 2x back on everything
the 2% cards will have to pay a processing fee for rent likely 3% fee or more. Bilt's value is in the no fee for rent. It's also not a bad idea to stack a Bilt card with another card
I need the $20 or $25 credit too I'm a new customer and still waiting for my card meanwhile I was invited to link with Lyft when usually I'm a Uber type girl Any suggestions how I can get this credit?🎉🎉🎉🎉
Aaaah the good old Bay. When I moved to London everyone said I’d be blown away by rent costs. Nah… coming from the Bay Area it seemed cheap by comparison 😅. Welp… the points can take some (SOME) of the sting off 😂
in a midsize town I am spending $1365/mo for rent for a 1200 square/ft house. If I owned a house I could have a mortgage for $2500/mo for 3000 square/ft.
I joined the rewards program sad have almost 2000 points rn. You get 100 for each one you link and I'm earning points on Lyft. I'd like the card but I'm waiting. Wish they had a soft approval.
I'm paying $1350 for a studio in Seattle in Capital Hill .. in August Imma heading to Dallas TX and paying $1600 for a second floor of a house in Carrollton. I feel like I'm lucky that I snatched the $1350 apartment in Seattle lol
I’m 18 and I’ve been watching your videos for weeks now and I’m getting ready to start building credit and I’m in love with this card since you first spoke about it, I love the thought of gaining out of rent with this card and I’m saving to move out my parents home within a year so this would benefit me greatly!
I don't have the Bilt card, but I just use the CapOne Savor for eating out and groceries, where I earn 3% back. For hotel and flight bookings, I also use the Venture X. And the most absurd part is that my business's building's landlord accepts credit cards, so I pay my $5k monthly rent using my Venture X. I can't complain about that.
Wow!! That's like getting a 120K signup bonus each year on the same card. Super cool! I love the Savor but I happily use the Bilt card for dining for access to 'better' transfer partners that suit my travel needs. I happen to reside in NY and Boston when not travelling so BILT dining gets me 9x on dining when I pair it with amex gold or 11x on rent day.
In all reality it depends on your ability to stay consistently responsible and be on top of your payments. There are very few debit cards that give you any sort of bonus value other than it's just online money. Credit cards, and some more than others, have the potential to give you lots of value in the form of cash back, points that can be used for traveling, and lowering costs of loans for cars and homes in the future. Overall Credit cards are the way to go and if you are good at being responsible you most likely won't see a need for an average debit card at all. If you are someone who is irresponsible and can't handle the power of a credit card because you blow all your money into it, or you spend more money than you have, then maybe a Debit card is better for you because you can only spend what you have.
Please explain this ACH transfer since I have found conflicting information including from BILT directly. Can an ACH be sent directly to a LL bank account? Not as check, but a wire transfer and gain points from that? Thanks.
1: agreed, there's been "quasi" bonus reported of 5x for 5 days but I haven't seen definitive language 2: yes and no. Yes you don't earn big but there are spots for value. The AA points earn is big win, along with the recent Hyatt x Bilt status challenge. I just hit Globalist again with 20 nights appreciate the feedback!
I am using it for dining strictly. Also points can be transferred to AA. Maybe I am missing something but this card is decent enough considering no annual fees.
@@louforignoramus3669 - Not a lazy issue. It is probably the most requested feature. If Bilt can write an ACH for rent, they can do the same for mortgages. 65% of the US population are homeowners and most of them are paying down a mortgage
People trashing this card because they aren't renters. CONGRATS - you're a homeowner! But like, a lot of us cannot afford to buy a home yet. I do think no SUB is absurd which is why I'm not getting it but hating on it because you aren't a renter is unnecessary. The card isn't for you and that's okay.
Actually as a condo owner I considered putting my condo into either a trust or an LLC and renting from myself to use this card. Not sure how it works… but I’ve been thinking about it…
@@WorldStyleEgo Fully aware. When not travelling, I split my time between NY and Boston which are both BILT dining cities. I'm currently in East Africa doing 6months of digital nomading while exploring the area and BILT is my go to dining card here as well. I asked a NY family member to add their Amex Gold to my bilt wallet. Whenever they use their gold card at a bilt restaurant, they get 4X because it is Amex gold and I'm getting 5x BILT points while relaxing in Africa. Just more reason I love the card
Thoughts on the fact that some individuals have been having issues with fraudulent charges with their BILT cards? Its the main factor preventing me from getting the card.
I'm not worried given there is fraud protection on CC. It's annoying, but checking your cc statement each month is good practice to abide by. The issues with Bilt are issues that can occur with any card issuer. The attacks have been BIN attacks where hackers try and guess card sequences, wild that this form of hack even works.
Technically, you only need to make 4 other transactions (rent counts as 1). It's in the terms. You get 3x points on dining, so just use it as your dining card.
Yes I can confirm, you need 5 transactions to get the points. Also you need to time the payment properly to get the 1st bonus whatever it may be. My first few months of using it, I couldn’t land it on the first. Because even though you pay on the first, the payment doesn’t go through until a few days later.
Wish people would stop hyping this credit card up more than it actually is - unless you're going to rent for the rest of your life & not own, its a mediocre card at best

My rent is $2895 and I’m so glad I found the Bilt card!!
points for days!!
I got a 804 credit score and $0 debt.. but why did Bilt card deny me?!?!
Cause you don’t have debt. Capital one denied my request for credit limit increase. Because I don’t carry a balance on their card.
😂 Because you're going to pay them back ON TIME. And in the credit card game that's not good for business!!
744 and $0 debt. I got rejected right away.
Probably not enough old credit history

No. They say you can for rent related charges though, so utilities, phone, internet etc. I pay my Fios bill with it.

Do you know if this card available in the UK?
Can homeowners can still use this card to pay for utilities?
If yes, it's not as big of a purchase, but those are still free points.
Do you have to take 3 rides per month to get the 5 dollar credit?
If bilt will give you a routing and account number, then why can't you use that to pay your mortgage?
Because they track all your purchases
