  • In this edition of best car polish, Darren sits with Tom to discuss whether anti-static is a legitimate claim made by so many companies when it comes to the best car polish, the best car wax, or the best tire dressing.
Darren applies some critical thinking to the auto detailing industry and asks the question as to the validity of the so-called anti-static formulations of the endless auto detailing products that exist.

One thing I've noticed from using all sorts of different products....I live in L.A. which is EXTREMELY dusty. I can finish washing and waxing a car, keep it in a garage and etc. If I come back to it a few hours later, I'll notice a layer of dust. I've done numerous tests of waxing/coating one side of the car vs. the other. One thing I've noticed is this: Synthetic sealants/waxes seem to attract more dust than natural. This was especially noticeable when Meguiar's NXT first came out. I LOVED that product...but I've always noticed more dust than when I used s100/p21s. I'd cover one side of the car with something like P&S beadmaker and the other side with something more natural based. I loved the ease of use of polymer based products (ICE, Seal 'n Shine, beadmaker etc), but for some reason it always ends up with more dust. Especially noticeable if you split the car in half...one side treated with synthetic, the other with carnauba (I hate the application of natural waxes..rubbing/buffing is tiring), the synthetic side (even though it requires less buffing) always has more dust on it.

I don’t know why you guys have been getting all this hate when it comes to CSI. I bought Ceram-X and it’s been awesome. I’d love to have you guys do a video on polishing parts of the car that aren’t easily accessible with a machine (DA 5”).

JP people like to just hate on youtube. But i spoke to that guy from csi and he was very humble. He removed 600 grit sandmarks in the previous video and thats a statement on its own

I love your voice of reason, Darren! Too many products in the market to confuse the consumer!

Norton Liquid Ice system. I’d really like to know how it compares to CSI. Second Request.
You’ve made the claim that there is absolutely no product/system that compares to CSI, so I find it hard to believe that you’re unaware of the Norton system. Tom seems like a nice guy, with a lot of knowledge, but this Norton thing needs to be addressed. Thanks

Hi Brian Tom Here Norton was a great concept but not before SYSTEM ONE. All single products stem from a beginning I'd ask Norton where they got the idea from? CSI is far more aggressive then liquid Ice and the CSI finish can't be beat. Appreciate the question love the concept of Liquid Ice.

@@CSIClearcoatsolutions hi, i sent email but i haven't received email back. I want a spray sealant (anti-dust) that is specially designed to not attract dust as much as possible (i got black car and it looks dirty fast after the wash). Which product have you got like this which is the best? also how long durability? thanks
