- No flex or bend in the body
- Very little wobble in the keycaps

in my opinion the g915 / g915 TKL is one of the greatest looking keyboards ever released. something about it just looks so premium. i think logitech were ahead of their time with this
Agreed
It's such a shame that this illusion of premiumness shatters the moment you touch one. Those keycaps are horrendously cheap.
The Logitech does look more premium but the keys really feel and look horrible so it was a no buy for me
Also really overpriced for what you get - basic ABS keycaps that are non-standard, no lighting on secondary characters, micro USB to name a few
I got a two of them in my closet not being used along with a bunch of ThinkPad 2s.
And a Havit HV-KB390L as my daily driver, arranged in Dvorak of course.
Too much 'luxury' and shoddy keycaps in the 915.
Not the greatest feel unfortunately. Still was my daily driver for a long time.
Oooh. RGB on the symbols as well as the numbers! Finally a keyboard manufacturer that gets it.
The Razer keyboard sounds way better in my opinion and I don't normally care for sound as it functions well like my Corsair K70 RGB PRO. Well done Razer for an excellent keyboard
Upgrading from my k70 mk2 to the deathstalker v2 pro tomorrow how're you liking it nowadays?
Linear or clicky in deathstalker?
no it doesnt
I just tried the brown switches on the G915 TKL and liked them. How do the switches feel on the Deathstalker V2 Pro TKL? Are they too squishy?
Nice review! I am wondering though, how long does the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro battery life last at maximum RGB brightness? (I understand they advertise it as 40 hours at 50% brightness but is it still decently visible?) Is it worth switching from G915 to Deathstalker V2 Pro?
Not very long. I don't have exact numbers but I used it quite bright and it ran out within a couple of days.
@@TheProvokedPrawn In terms of brightness, is it brighter than the G915 at around 60/70%? For my G915, I set it at 70% and i only need to charge it once every 1.5 weeks and I used it about 8+ hours per day (Bluetooth mode while working and lightspeed when gaming/personal PC)
I keep wanting to get a wireless keyboard - so tired of cables, but the limited duration of the battery makes it seem kind of pointless if it is always just on my desk and never really moved around.
First I thought it's kinda pointless as well when I purchased the G915 but after a while I also bought a TV and from time to time I'm using it in bed when I'm wathcing the TV so it wasn't completely pointless. :D
As someone who plays MTG and yugioh over webcam from time to time, the ability to just unplug it at the keyboard side and not the PC and drag the wire though the desk just to move it off the desk is a huge bonus. Great use case in that reguard for those of us who use our computer desk for other stuff and need to easily clear room.
I only chose the death stalker because it has hot swappable switches.
After losing my k70 because I couldn't fix my keys I will never buy non-hot swappable again.
I have a g915 tkl, it's wireless connection is sometimes lost even at 1 meter distance, the keycaps are terrible, and the feet break easily, those are my only problems with it, otherwise it's pretty great.
V helpful video! You mention you wondered how the keycaps on the razer would hold up over 6 months - do you have any update on how they've done since you've had the keyboard? Are you still using the razer regularly, or did you stick with the logitech after all?
Afraid not. I've been resting too many others.
Love that the deathstalker came back. I still own my original deathstalker but will get this bad boy when it goes on sale
I know right! I still have mines too, almost hitting 6 years now since I bought and its still running strong aside from my number key enter being stiff. I never expected it to ever make a return since I thought they discontinued the original chiclet versions. Now they come out with this! Like you will get it when it goes on sale :D
Uh, you do know there is literally NOTHING about the v2 which is similar to the v1?
They simply STOLE the Deathstalker name and put it on a 100% completely different keyboard. I've been testing the v2, and while if I was FORCED to, I could tolerate it, and I do like the new features, but it's NOT in ANY way like the original Deathstalker. It's NOT Chicklet, it has no Arm rest (and using a purchased one doesn't help, it's FAR too HIGH), the Key Travel is much greater, and the Sensor activates far higher than the key travel, which is unnecessary travel time/distance, and the keys catch your fingers more. All those things combined, you're making FAR more typing mistakes. I'm massively ticked... Oh, and I don't like the raised keys, not having the "borders" around the keys, at least the outside sections, even though I might have been willing to tolerate the so-called "low-profile" keys, them all exposed make the keyboard fragile too.
Had the g815, and everything was absolutely perfect but the terrible wobble/rattle. Big deal imo, returned it and ordered the non-pro razer.
How has it worked for you so far? I like the look but don't think I'll ever be using it wireless so I'm looking at the non-pro version as well
@@thefoolsgold in the end, I returned the razer too, it was only very superficially "premium" but was really plastic at heart, I found the price was really exaggerated. I got a keychron Q1 v2 and never looked back, absolutely fantastic
@@pranze3484 Thanks for the info. I just bought the G815 and love it expect for a little more wobble in the keys and was considering the Razor deathstalker v2. I will look into the keychron Q1 v2
Deathstalker sounds stiffer probably due to dampening? :(
G915 LOOKS nice ... I was captured by those brushed metal looks and extra button on the top .... but the moment I type on it .. Good lord... then I realize the caps were not a classic MX Stem which is quite unfortunate .. its wobbly .. and when I carrying it around it sounds horrible.. sounds like I bring a bucket full of Legos ... on top of that , it uses Micro USB .. and its completely FLAT which is so uncomfortable ... sold it .. bought Deathstalker V2 Pro and damn... it was so much better and feels better ... even tho it looks simple aesthetic wise
Cannot decide between these 2 and the Corsair k100 air. I would be adding the wire to any of these or just getting the wired version. I have a razer huntsman right now but I don’t like how long of a stroke it is to push a key. That’s why I am looking at the low profile boards now. Also I don’t like razers chroma software. It just never works right for me. So I’m leaning the k100 for now because it’s looks so much like a laptop keyboard wich I am a fan of because I use a laptop for work all day.
Thank you! The Razer DeathStalker suits me better.
Even if it was fact that the Razer keyboard was better in nearly EVERY way id still buy Logitech. Razer products, in my experience, are completely unreliable..Logitech on the other hand..I have a 6-7 yr old G603 mouse that goes years between battery chanes and still works as flawless as it has the day I bought it.
As always, a top notch review! Thank you!
Thanks Mike. Glad you liked it.
is it possible to lube these switches?
I love G915 as it looks more premium. Also, Logitech G Hub caters to MacOs users unlike Razer. Alternatively, if I am looking for a more affordable keyboard, I will just go with Keychron.
Interesting about the Mac compatibility. That's not something I thought of.
Once you set up a Razer keyboard in keyboard in Synapse it should work on a Mac as well
now to wait another year for a less mainstream company to make this for 150.
I just got the keyboard. Is it normal for the lighting to revert to default and stay on for 15 mins once I turn my PC off every time? Does anyone else’s do this ?
You need to shut it off with the switch or you’re just draining battery for no reason.
What the hell is the Razer even try to achieve here? I literally just swapped g915 for DS just find that it does not even support saving basic color scheme profiles on its onboard memory, like WTF without the necessity to be running the cancer of SW called Synapse. Not even Logitech with its over-engineered piece of crap called G-Hub had this audacity and at least offered two slots for custom profiles. Here you can only choose one color and that is it. That's outright downgrade of the highest caliber to for such over-expensive keyboard.
Me being like. Logitech love it but no support on Linux defaults even lights.
Razer has OpenRazer. Github guys already working on getting it to work.
Sooo this killed Logitech for me.
I choose ryzer mainly because of usb-c.
Micro-usb is a joke these days.
ty
the g915 in sound test is with blue switches right?
Brown. GL tactile.
Hello Prawn ! This G915 keyboard has a major problem! Only half of the keys are illuminated. This is totally stupid !!! A G513 has the whole keys illuminated. Why not an 815 or a 915?
When it is dark, you will have to look for the semicolon, dot, and all the special characters. Let's not even talk about European keyboards which are reversed (numbers at bottom => not illuminated at all !). It's even worse, you'll have to look for the numbers!
Really, it sucks and I don't understand why nobody point at this. Same for 815, 915 and all gaming keyboards from Logitech.
European version has not illuminated numbers? lol and Micro USB. Good keyboard
@@nerfi4106 This is a major problem. Whatever the layout is, european or US, the Logitech has half of keys completly dark. Not a problem with the Razor as all caracters are on top of keys. If you only play with it, this could be ok. But if you use your keyboard for all stuff, ie Office use or work, it really sucks. IAMO, the Razor is far better than the Logitech for this simple reason.
Maybe logitech should have also etched out the secondary symbols (!@#$%^&*) on all of the number and letter caps. Then, people who use their keyboard at night time wouldn't have to search for an alternative. 😑
I have been a logitech supporter since the early 90s. But this cost them many sales.
I own both. G915 is one of the prettiest keyboards ever released, looks and feels premium. Only gripes with it is the switches, keycaps and micro-usb charge port. I am very excited for when a revised version comes out. The DSV2 Pro is nice, no g-keys, and also hot-swappable! So, the customization factor is what compelled me to buy it, since you can choose your own switches (keychron makes them) and you have a little more choice with the keycaps (though the included keycaps are pretty nice).
I love the G915 prior getting into custom keyboardm if deathstalker came in 60% i'll check em out
it's just too bad that logitech's head is way up its own arsehole and refuse to touch any form of a contactless switch (optical , Hall-effect, etc); until they I ain't buyin anything from them (had a bunch of their keyboards and mice double-click/chatter on me). So until they fix that issue, logitech is still a no-go brand for me
Now we need a white tkl version :)
Agreed
I was looking for the white version
The G915 definitely has the upper hand when it comes to looks. If Razer had intended to copy the Logitech design they failed miserably lol. I have the G915 and I don't consider it a 'gaming' keyboard - it's simply too thin and fragile to withstand the rigors of hardcore gaming.
It looks like Razer went with not only a standard MX stem but also relatively standard stabilizers, too. Unexpected, but very welcome. I wonder if they'll offer replacement keycaps, they'd be one of only a few brands to even offer low profile keycaps if so.
yeah i have been looking for low profile keycaps forever, since the razer ornata was my first keyboard, but i have been unable to find anything like those keycaps for my now custom keyboard, so it would be great if they would offer some in white/black/gray
If they make metal low profile key caps for $50-$70 I will buy those in a heartbeat
I am interested, it's just tough, at this price point you can build a pretty nice custom board.
Call it copied but I’ve used both and razer made a far superior product in my opinion
I just bought my deathstalker
I've honestly given up on Razer products. I am a huge fanboy, but between their horrible quality control and their ridiculous pricing, their products just don't do it for me anymore. They are honestly starting to remind me of Apple.
Kinda true but Logitech also has high prices and some quality control issues (the notorious double clicking in some of their mice) I say choose your poison- or whatever goes on sale for a better price
Deathstalker v2 has buttons. Clearly a copy of Logitech G915, that one has buttons too!
🤣
Razer will have my vote. I'm hooked on the ability to reprogram almost any key, whereas Logitech only allows it on their GKeys (or F in the case of the TKL). I've had the G915, but I just can't give up the reprogamability. After seeing the announcement today, I've already ordered one.
Have you started using it already? How does it compare to the Logitech?
Yep, they copied Logitech, made the keyboard a bit BETTER, and then STOLE the DeathStalker NAME, which the v1 is literally a 100% DIFFERENT keyboard. There is not a single thing that brings over the original Deathstalker to the V2, NOT ONE THING, and I'm massively PISSED about this.
Us Typists, those who like/NEED Chicklet keys were looking for the DeathStalker to be turned into a Mechanical/Optical Keyboard, have the nice Wireless features, and the Audio/Button controls.
Instead, they SHAFT us.... I have nothing against Razer having their little competition games, but to completely DESTROY the Deathstalker legacy... SHAME ON THEM!!!
V2 pro for me. The G915 just sounds more clicky. And the G915 full board is just too big.
and the microUSB is def a bugger on the g915! V2 pro is a win
Hey does your unit have a weird shrilling noise next to the 2.4ghz Bluetooth switch? It's very audible when you select a Bluetooth connection. I wonder if I got a defective one =/. The range is incredible but that shrilling sound yeash.
So I tried a few of them (5) and they seem to have the same exact issue. It's like an electronic buzz noise. I think it was designed that way or the batch I got all 5 from are from the same batch. It might be a fan inside the keyboard maybe or something but it is definitely noticeable on all the units I bought.
I don't know how good the Razer is but the Logitech with red switches is really not good. The caps are waggly and sound horrible. The switches get scratchy very soon.
So I just bought the razer today and love it... but I'm not sure what I can connect with the Bluetooth with it...
why don't they have a tkl high profile wireless keyboard option though?
RAZER SPACE KEY RATTLES
Logitech and Razer have a contract, razer is allowed to do this
🤔
Why does nobody talk about how the DS v2 is missing media buttons? I use media buttons daily and for them to be missing on a premium $250 keyboard is odd.
They aren't missing? It's in the small button on the right. Multi action.
I've always wanted a full size wireless keyboard without the macros keys on the left so this is a no brainer.
I wish it had 18 macro keys to the left, then that would be a no brainer for me
how are the acoustics of the DeathStalker compared to Huntsman mini with linear red switches?
ua-cam.com/video/K-ZXnJQ0Kt0/v-deo.html
4:00 definitely like my RGB to be perky
🤣 per key
Razer forgot the dedicated macro keys. But i haven’t. No buy.
You can reprogram keys though and you can add a secondary layer with hypershift. So actually there are more potential keys on the DeathStalker V2 Pro.
Logitech still uses Micro-USB ahhaha imagine still getting a peripheral in 2022 with that shitty cable
I currently have them on my keyboard and i hate em like what can you even use them for? Very minor things at best?
@@bradhuddleson5216 if you ever thought about buying a stream deck or touch portal, then you would know why, just as a simple example, why dedicated macro keys on a keyboard is a good idea.
One functionality is missing on G915 and I know it as I own that keyboard, but I don't know for Razer keyboard in the video:
you only have a Caps lock indicator with LED light, but no Scroll lock or NUM lock indicators?
There werent meant to be dedicated macro keys, and the old deathstalker came out in 2012 with the G915 coming out in 2020, there's no way its a copy if you just do a tiny bit of research, video was great but the title was a little misleading to me and possibly others.
Fine, but the G915 is more well known and popular 🤷♂️ I'm perfectly aware there was a previous version. I was briefed by Razer and the clue is in the name...
