Animated Burning Ship Fractal Orbits

  • As a fractal is being created through iterations, the mathematics send numbers on a journey to determine if they escape a boundary. But, what happens to the points that don't escape until higher iteration counts? How do they travel? In this example I show the "orbits" of those points near the edge of the burning ship set. These points don't escape the boundary for many iterations and it is mesmerizing watching their orbits evolve in a mathematic dance.

    Very cool visualization. It almost looks like something from the real world, like a sheet on a clothesline.

    Burning ship? I don't understad.... what ship? why it's burned? what is it? please explain...
