Gong Linna said, Dimash's singing brought something new to the song, his kind of scream could be attributed to the scream of the author of the poem. This is a girl whose muscles have not worked since birth. She can move one finger, and the respirator breathes for her. She was not given many years to live, but now she is twenty-one and writes poetry. At the end of the song, she is the one who recites the text. But it is a problem for her, because she has to take a breath from the respirator, say a word and take another. But you can't feel her effort, right? The song aims to draw attention to unusual diseases that cannot be cured due to their diversity and the small number of people who have the disease. This was the first time Gong Linna rapped. In other performances, this part was performed by a rapper, here she tried to do it herself, and Dimash added his interpretation of the song. Additionally Gong Linna tries very hard to ensure that each region of China promotes its own "folk" music, local styles and languages.
I really appreciate your comment! It’s so important to highlight stories like hers, and I’m glad you recognize the power of their performance to bring awareness to these rare conditions... Thanks foe watching with me and for sharing! ❤️✨
‘Become a Poet’ by Gong Linna & Dimash Qudaibergen (Music & lyrics: Ingrita Yu Zhen) Rarely, but just occasionally, you will hear a performance that when it finishes you can hear a ‘pin drop’ in the silence while the audience tries to assimilate what they have just heard as they are so moved ... this song is one of those! The story behind the song: This is about a girl named JENNY BAO who was born with a rare ‘spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)’ disease. Doctors gave her just four years to live. She permanently needs a respirator to enable her to breathe and the only part of her body that she can move independently is her right thumb. Poetry became a way of expressing herself even though each poem is painstakingly achieved. She is now in her early twenties and has published her collection of poetry. Some innovative doctors offered their help and she was given new treatments that now allow her to sit in a wheelchair so she is no longer permanently confined to bed. This song brings attention to the rare disease community. As Dimash said at the time: ‘A lot of people in China and around the world will now know about this story. Sometimes we, as artists, need to do something for humanity so people understand each other better. If somebody needs our help we need to do something like this performance’ ‘Become a Poet’ - lyrics in English: The afternoon sun spills gently across the desk Warm and bright through the window’s embrace A blank page lies awaiting her pen To capture the essence of growth, of dreams Or perhaps just a fleeting Thought about a mischievous cat In her poems, she writes about freedom Of twenty years of fleeting abundance Of roses in bloom Their beauty lingering even though withering Every breath, a labour, yet filled with purpose Become a poet For the soul of a poet is eternal As free and natural as a breath of air To live within verses Where misfortune is not a curse But inspiration Become a poet My soul too will live forever My breath flows free and unburdened I am no longer just myself But perhaps a burst of fireworks or a distant star RAP: If fate plays its cruel games And death’s shadow lingers close The spine that should support you falters Machines surround you, once mere furniture, now vital Coldness creeps into the bones like ice Threatening to mar beauty of every word Testing, provoking - how deep is your will to live? Will you surrender, compromise or lose heart? Or will you fight with every ounce of your might To escape death’s cold kiss? Fear may seem more honest than courage, But this is her life, a battle she won’t concede Even when tricked, and the body is trapped She refuses to let fate claim victory Keep fighting, keep blooming For this is how you become a poet In her poems she writes about freedom Of twenty years of fleeting abundance Of roses in bloom Their beauty lingering even though withering Every breath, a labour, yet filled with purpose Become a poet The soul of a poet is eternal As free and natural as a breath of air To live within verses Where misfortune is not a curse But inspiration Become a poet My soul, too, will live forever My breath flows free and unburdened I am no longer just myself But perhaps a burst of fireworks Or a distant star Jenny Bao reads her own poetry as it appears on the wall at the end of the song: ‘You will see me in the heat of passion In the transparency of tears You will see me in this moment You will see my heart Like an unknown star Flickering alone, light years away ... Flickering’
I really appreciate your thoughtful comment! It’s heartwarming to see how Jenny’s journey and the song resonate with so many. Thank you for taking the time to highlight its significance! ❤️❤️✨
The song (written by Gong Linna) is about a 21-year-old woman who has been paralyzed all her life and can only move one finger with which she writes poetry (Becoming a poet). She needs to be ventilated to live. Gong Linna (I like her voice and her charisma very much) wanted to sing the song with Dimash because he is also committed to human issues. She is very famous in China.
@@JustMyOpinion1010 Yes, she is .... at the end of the song she recites her poem and after the song ended the host talked to this girl live on the phone in front of everyone present, the girl thanked both singers for this song. she sent them a picture of herself .... she was dressed in a beautiful dress for it ..... Both Dimash and Gong Linna wish her luck, strength and "health" and tell her that they all love her there is a long video of this show on youtube
@@JustMyOpinion1010she really exist. She is a beacon of hope and moving on in life with what you do have which is her one moveable finger that she types her poetry with! That is her messages; don’t sit around and mope but go out in life and live it as best that you can! It does have a somber vibe but also a feeling of hope in the way they sang it. Love all the duets that Dimash has been doing lately…it all started with the Lose Control song on the Singer.
This song is so beautiful, and often overlooked. Thank you for reacting to it! Their voices are gorgeous and they sing about the disabled trying to live free, as free as possible. It is the disabled poet, Jenny Boa, who speaks at the end when the characters appear on the screen. Dimash was supposed to sing the rap section, but he can rap only in Kazakh, so Linna sang it and did a great job! Greetings from Oregon, USA
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! It's wonderful to hear how much you appreciate the song and its important message. Greetings back to you in Oregon! ❤️
The Chinese are at the forefront of technology, art and design. They are awarded every year in different categories (interior and exterior design, concert scenographies and more...) by Muse Design Award. It's an international competition
❗DIMASH SEEKS OUT and brings attention to vocalists he sees as poets who sing, creative voices who paint vocal pictures through music as he does, these two honor all poets.
Thank you for your reaction. Dimash loves the Chinese people, and they love him. I believe he will always come to perform when invited. This is a beautiful duet.
Dimash does amazing performances in China & always has great collabs there too. The Chinese put so much into their productions & the sets are always spectacular! Thanks a lot 😊🙏💞

WOW!!! 😶😶😶 I would never have known that much rich context was the inspiration for the performance/ song - thank you sooo much for sharing that with me! 😁❤️✨
great reaction. I absolutely love this song and I play it all the time. I like this one the best out of the three sang during this show. I love the others too but this one the best (the others are Red Moon Rules and I Came to Honor Mortal Life, which is my 2nd fave).
Thank you for reacting to this beautiful song. Dimash brings such interesting and innovative music. The setting is quite artistic. You said it was like a moving painting...exactly. the muted colors and sublime atmosphere was excellent. The Chinese appear to be very artistic and masters of instrumentation. The soul of their music is deep and quite beautiful. There is another song from that venue...something called Mortal life. It's very good.
Totally agree. Dimash has opened the door to music from other countries and cultures for sure. The door was already ajar for me due to my interest in the Eurovision Song Contest and I already had my ears peaked at Filipino singer Morisette Amon but Dimash has kicked the door wide open. I’ve heard songs sung in so many different languages and heard so many beautiful songs thanks to him. There is so much more music to appreciate than just the things we hear on the radio in the uk etc. it’s so vast and so refreshing to hear what more there is to offer.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s wonderful to connect with others who appreciate the richness of global music. Dimash really does have a special gift for opening our ears and hearts! Big ❤️✨

Luke I'm so glad you were able to get this one up. Smart decision to obscure the video that way. This performance was actually the same show as Red Moon Rules. Hey! Ahh, thanks for watching with me 😁 'Singing With Legends' I mean, that's a pretty apt title! Ha - and I think I may have found a way to get 'Red Moon Rules' up with a similar tactic lol... it's just a shame because it's always best to see it clearly! ❤️✨

‘Become a Poet’ - lyrics in English:
The afternoon sun spills gently across the desk
Warm and bright through the window’s embrace
A blank page lies awaiting her pen
To capture the essence of growth, of dreams
Or perhaps just a fleeting
Thought about a mischievous cat
In her poems, she writes about freedom
Of twenty years of fleeting abundance
Of roses in bloom
Their beauty lingering even though withering
Every breath, a labour, yet filled with purpose
Become a poet
For the soul of a poet is eternal
As free and natural as a breath of air
To live within verses
Where misfortune is not a curse
But inspiration
Become a poet
My soul too will live forever
My breath flows free and unburdened
I am no longer just myself
But perhaps a burst of fireworks or a distant star
RAP:
If fate plays its cruel games
And death’s shadow lingers close
The spine that should support you falters
Machines surround you, once mere furniture, now vital
Coldness creeps into the bones like ice
Threatening to mar beauty of every word
Testing, provoking - how deep is your will to live?
Will you surrender, compromise or lose heart?
Or will you fight with every ounce of your might
To escape death’s cold kiss?
Fear may seem more honest than courage,
But this is her life, a battle she won’t concede
Even when tricked, and the body is trapped
She refuses to let fate claim victory
Keep fighting, keep blooming
For this is how you become a poet
In her poems she writes about freedom
Of twenty years of fleeting abundance
Of roses in bloom
Their beauty lingering even though withering
Every breath, a labour, yet filled with purpose
Become a poet
The soul of a poet is eternal
As free and natural as a breath of air
To live within verses
Where misfortune is not a curse
But inspiration
Become a poet
My soul, too, will live forever
My breath flows free and unburdened
I am no longer just myself
But perhaps a burst of fireworks
Or a distant star

One correction. The song was written by Ingrita Yu Zhen.
Does the woman really exist, or is it a fictional story?
