The e-series tractors do use DEF fluid. Only the models over 75hp though - all tractors over 75hp require DEF. So the 5090E and 5100E all require DEF fluid. Same with the 6E series. In fact, the larger E-series tractors have the same engine as the large M-series. And the E-series battery is not under the steps, it is on the other side, without steps. I know this because I have a 5065E, and a 6105E, and have used a 5090E.
