The P2V was My dad’s favorite plane. He flew every mark from the dash -1 to the dash -7. Between 1954-57 he flew VW-3 from NAS Agana flying typhoon hunters. He penetrated seven typhoons. What an adventure.

My uncle, Bernard P. Rice, piloted these with the USN and USN Reserves 1952-1966/67. Did a tour in Europe in the ‘60’s when recalled active duty. I remember a squadron plaque that was FASRON-124. He passed in 2016, wonder if anyone recalls him ?

I was a career AW in the P-3s, and in my first squadron I worked with a Flight Engineer that flew in the P-2s. He had a large print of the photo at 5:04 hanging over his desk. From my recollection, I want to say it was in the Med, over toward Crete, but I could be wrong, since it had VP-6 (PAC) markings. Best as I can recall, he said it floated for almost a week, and being a hazard to navigation, they finally had to torpedo it and sink it. I always found that an ironic twist that the sub hunter would be sunk by a torpedo. If anybody knows for sure, let me know.

I served with VP-18 as a aircrewman from 1959 thru 1963. Do yo remember what your father did in the Squadron? That name is familiar.

Really cool photos of P2V aircraft. I used to fly quite often in the bow of the plane when we were in Morocco in the mid 50s.

My dad, LCDR Lee S. Jackson, Jr. (PS-TWO), was a crew pilot during he his time in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was stationed in Korea, Japan, Kodiak and Whidbey Island. I still have his flight jacket with squadron patches and flying helmet as well as crew and squadron photos. We were stationed on Midway NAF where he was in AirOps, 3 years before ending his 24 year career at Sandia Base.

You just made my day! In the latter part of the video there was a shot of my plane, VP-23, LJ , Possibly taken near Mt. Etna in Sicily. Absolutely made my day. Very fond memories.

I was stationed in Sigonela in 1967 during the time of the 6 day war and the attack on the ship 'Liberty' I got to sit in the nose cone of our aircraft as we flew to Libia on patrol. We didnt know at the time that the attack was a false flag but had circumstantial evidence that it was so.The venerable PT Neptunes were likeable apart from the lack of toilets and insulation. Pooping out the open bombay doors was hairraising. I didnt do it myself. Mt Etna never quit erupting and the people of Catania werent frightened of it. I used to do guard duty at the base and never was given a radio or a weapon. Wierd in retrospect. Patron7...
