Mugello is a banger, I'm a road guy and it's one of my favorite tracks, so excited to get it in iRacing
Thanks for doing this. Long day with the kids so it was nice to be able to lay down and listen to the patch notes rather than skimming through and reading them tonight.
As the resident right hand turn enjoyer, I can confirm Mugello is far overdue! It works really well for open wheels and especially works well for multiclass. FIA grade 1 circuits always work the best for multiclass and Mugello is no exception
I actually like reading the patch notes for iRacing. They are the most interesting patch notes in the entire gaming industry.
The way they word the AI updates is the best.
Seeing as they are doing damafe models for legacy cars, i think it would be cool to have a "legacy series" for oval cars where it just runs a different legacy car each week. Like COT, the old trucks, gen 6 cars
iRacing may be going after those "adaptive pedals" that got revealed (released?) recently, the ones that you just mash to 100% and it handles the input by itself

It's just tough since you have to teach them to run the cushion and run the fast line but it can be done. But where I'd millbridge and micros? We have been waiting on these as long as the rain.
I'd regard Mugello as an easy A-tier track. Some big elevation changes, handful of blind corners, and good variety of corners.
I really wish they would work on optimizing the game for modern hardware. Its pretty wild that it only uses 2 (i dont remember the exaxt number) cpu core.
Implementing AMDs ai frame gen would be incredible if its possible with 3x screens.
Lastly adding some sort of ui to phase out digging in the .ini file.
This would probably require deep rearchitecting of the game engine and so is unlikely to happen in the next 5 years 😅

forget rain Iracing is ice racing as it is and most drivers don't understand good racing enough or care enough to survive the first turn taking everyone out around them.
I could care less about the rain, how about they give us realistic flat tires, punctures/slow leaks, flat spots and better tire physics.

Better tire physics I agree, but I don't think we want slow leaks/punctures with the current netcode/damage.
Debris seems to be random whether or not it appears on your screen. then it gets cleared off the track magically. It's not realistic to get a puncture for running over a front wing from the shadow realm. Unless they make debris visually consistent on all drivers screens. If the aforementioned issues were addressed though I would like to see these added.
Same with slow leaks or tire failure. In ranked lobbies I would strongly disagree with. Not just tires but other mechanical failures like the engine or brakes. Adding a 1:1000 (just for an example) chance of a race ending failure wouldn't add anything but probably a smashed keyboard or two lol.

TBH im happy the devs havent just pushed the rain (from high demand), they only get one shot at this. It has to be spot on.

Mugello might not provide great racing spectacle with limited overtaking opportunities but it's so satisfying to drive. The amount of high-speed corners make for a thrilling experience. Looking forward to having a race there in SF/F3
F1 on that figure 8 will be more chaotic than just the standard dirt
I would rather iracing fix there tire modle first before they add rain.
Slinger will be the fastest short track on Iracing. Until Winchester Speedway gets added.
Eventually Justin we need a full video guide on the new oval racing and how to save tires with it, where to find the lines, etc.
Mugello is going to be the italian answer to Suzuka. Very technical track, it will be difficult to pass with a race car. More of a MotoGP track, but it's beautiful. Casanova-Savelli-Arrabbiata 1-Arrabbiata 2 will be the best track of the circuit, trust me.
The fastest quarter mile claim for slinger is from when they ran usac sprints there they ended up laying down a 9 second lap which to my knowledge is the fastest lap set on a quarter mile oval

I think a better incident points system would be great because most of the time when I race on Oval when there's a wreck I get thought but someone spins me and I get a 4x

I am surprised they aren't adding in the Lamborghini SC63 LMDh in this update but I guess that will come in Season 2 once it has made its first IMSA race at Sebring

Probably the most disappoint S1 patch I've ever seen. Usually it's the biggest and best with all of the new cars, but this is severely lacking. No Corvette GT3. No Mustang GT3, GT4, or Dark Horse R. No updated Ford or Toyota Next Gen bodies. No Lambo GTP. There's so much that's coming out in real life for the beginning of next season but we're not going to have them in iRacing yet.
If they get rid of the classic site, how do you watch a friend race from the UI? I haven’t used the UI that much but it’s not the same as the classic site.
And the R8 is loooong overdue

I believe legacy cars are still being updated due to either AI racing or the future career line for iRacing. Although i wouldn't mind online series' where they are used also

Holy crap, I just gained 1.25 safety rating to go up to A class on the 300 lap martinsville this week. So I would have went from B class to max A in this new update? That's way too much safety rating gain

Not much in the way of fixing their tire model. That's a shame. Because it's the tires that make or brake a physics simulation.

They already said that with the release of Tempest the tire model will be reworked and that the had to do that because the old tire model is incompatible with wet track surfaces.
Looking at that ai racing bit annoys me, i just bought that dallara ir01 and after seeing that i couldnt race ai with it pissed me off to all hell

why new tracks when the already existing ones are soo old they literally aren't even from this or the last decade?

10:36 they need to allow for a protest against the Marshalls. I got an off track in f4 yesterday driving down the middle of the track. A 2x on the first lap. I never left the track.
I like the ui but cant find time trials. Only time atack. I havent looked that hard though
i do watch on 2x speed but the music on 2x speed is not nice...

I watch in rewind and it sounds epic.
I know iracing is a much older and more matured simulator. And i love the hell out of it. But it looks absolutely aweful. The yellow collor tint of the graphics, the lackluster lighting/shadows/textures and overall envirement is quite dated and it shows. I find myself enjoying much more AMS2 and RFactor2 due to the more up to date graphics and engines.
I know the iracing engine is limited to a degree as you can only add so much new tech to old game engines. But still. If they could get to the AMS2 or ACC levels of graphics it would bring in a entirely different feel. We would be more immersed. More enthrawled in iracing. As currently it really looks like richard burns rally era of games with some heavy polishing. Its starting to show its age.
I hate when iracing puts a fat wallet update. These are my favorites with just one track a car and that’s it. All the rest is to make the service better
I wish they would improve the cars feeling related to throttle. I don’t care about cars and tracks. The cars don’t drive like real race cars when talking about throttle. And there is no compression with elevation change. It’s a really fun game, but it’s not a sim
Slinger is the only interesting thing in this update for the most part in my opinion. Not as good as last years update 1
Iracing is way to expensive for what they offer.
1:05 I wish they would include the short layout for Mugello that you could run in the old Forzas. It would make the track suitable for slower cars.
