On guitar these multi-purpose chords are often referred to as "grips", and I have heard this term applied to keyboard voicings, too, but "shapes" is a good description!
Hola profesor, i was practicing this concept and i found it easy to do it with numbers, 7-9-3-6, as a formula for every note in this chord with no root, saludos desde Mexico, land of nopal. i just love your channel by the way, its been a real treasure for me...
You make the knowledge in my head so transferable to the keyboard. Thank you!!! I know that I still have so much to learn, but this helps tremendously! 🙂
I really like the rootless sound but its confusing. Glad u make videos explaining these fun concepts in logical ways. Thanks for get the program to show the midi notes!
Got it! "Shape" makes more sense to me than "Box". Anyway, I practiced it through the cycle of fifths until I could go at a steady pace with no errors. Then I started with the C (9/13) chord on shape 2 and did the same. I assume I could flat the 13 and it would still be a "shape 1"?
I've been working very hard on these voicings for months. I find that I can play all four notes if I'm just playing the chords. When I try to improvise or play a bassline with the other hand, I drop back to the three-note voicings. At least for now.
Hello!!! I’m a great fan of your content. If there is any chance could you do “The second star to the right” from peter pan please? I would be so great!
Major7 #4 shapes (starting on the the 7th note of the chord you want to apply it to ) and Dominant7#4 shapes( starting on the 3rd note of the chord you want to apply it to ...All in root position... Other notes can then be added if you like...
