I love the scene where Thing finds the drawing Xavier made of Wednesday playing the cello. She was awed by his work, truly touched by it, but the emotion was so foreign to her that she didn’t know how to respond.

that level of attention can freak someone out as hell, like stalking. She is a fierce introvert whos every action speaks for a need to control how people see her, everything she says, the way she dresses is a declaration of war and his painting took that agency, that illusion of control away from her. She is used to control what people get to see in her and he got behind that protective shell

Personally I still don't trust Xavier. We still don't know why or how he was connected to the Hyde and right after he gifted Wednesday a new phone, a phone that no one but him knows the number to, she starts receiving threatening texts from a stalker. Who better for a stalker than a man who is clearly obsessed with Wednesday? People like to compare Xavier's devotion to Wednesday to Gomez's devotion to Morticia. But to me Xavier's affections feel very unstable. He's jealous and controlling. He tells her what to do and gets angry when she doesn't compel. I very much get the feeling that if the urge ever took him, he could kill her in a rage. Plus I'm still not convinced he isn't a Hyde.
He does match the description far better than tyler. Not to mention who attacked tyler, if Tyler was the only Hyde?
The "What's to like?" line is very satisfying. The firm "Leave!" is even better. Her reaction is priceless. In her limitless arrogance, she literally cannot process the idea that, at least for a few moments, he isn't toadying before her, ready to do her bidding. Two brief moments of dignity for this character.
Yes!!! I feel like those lines emotionally hurt her in the same (or near same) way as learning that Enid wanted to switch roomies. It made her *feel* something, even if she doesn't want to admit that, you know?
He needs more moments like that. After how he was treated and made to look this season, he needs some self-respect.
i agree with this on so many levels, she was so used to getting her way throughout the series and there were some moments where she was being too much.
Fr. I really want to see some more of Xavier standing up for himself and shutting Wednesday up in season 2. But I also want Wednesday and Xavier to be endgame ❤

I know a lot of people ship Wednesday with Enid but I don’t. I just see them as best friends. I ship Wednesday and Xavier. Based on that one scene, it looks like they have history and Xavier always liked her. I loved the scenes of him being jealous of Wednesday and Tyler, especially at the Rave’N dance. I think if they are gonna give her a boyfriend or love interest it should definitely be Xavier. Even before I found out Tyler was one of the main villains I still didn’t really feel the chemistry between them. Her and Xavier on the other hand ooze chemistry in my opinion. I’m fine with her never having a love interest because that would also match her character, but if they do it, I hope it’s him.
Edit: And I really hope they don’t give into fan demand and put her with Enid. That would feel so forced, they haven’t been romantic at ALL during their scenes together, it would just come out of nowhere. They are much cuter and better as best friends.
Agreed! I like that wlw trope, but I think in this case it really only works as fanfic. And yeah, it’d feel really forced. They have chemistry, but I can’t think of any reason to view it as being *romantic.*
I feel like neither Xavier or tyler had very compelling arcs with her. I think she had a more interesting arc with Enid opposites who learn to appreciate each other and then have a devastating falling out before reconciling and that hug in the final felt like something you'd see between two love interests. I'm interested to see what happens in the future.
@@sophiathefurbst it doesn't have to be romantic. But I definitely think that she's more fond of Enid than she is of most of the other people in her orbit. I'd like her to be some variety of ace. I don't want her to be merely straight. I feel like ultra queer Wednesday Addams should be some variety of queer. But in the end I'm just interested to see where it goes. I care more about Wednesday as a character than I do about using her as fodder for shipping. I really feel like Wednesday is my difficult, strange, mildly sociopathic friend and I can only praise Jenna Ortega for giving such a stellar performance.

Yeah they put way too many similarities between the two pairings for it to not be endgame.
A Tim Burton Fan can see the signs. They better watch his line of movies to get my point. If the purpose is to make them have a deeper relationship I don't mind a slow burn, especially since I want to enjoy more seasons. I can't wait for them to expand the Wednesday universe and introduce more plots and characters.I giggle whenever I analyze the scenes and witness the "electricity" in the air.

Agh, what I wouldn't give to know that song she's playing during the painting scene. It's such a haunting, and melancholy melody. I love it to bits, and it makes that scene just etch itself deep into my brain. I love the brevity of the interaction and how you can feel the emotional weight of the scene, there's something about it that I dearly adore. Maybe it's the quiet shock you can read in Wednesday's expression; how you can see that she's mesmerized by the painting and yet doesn't know what to do with that, or perhaps it's the soft spoken, genuine sincerity you can sense from Xavier. I especially do like the part when she struggles to accept the emotions no doubt swirling in her mind, that she leaves, briskly; it's very relatable. Though, Xavier's forlorn expression after she leaves gets me very damn time. I just really love the both of them. My goodness, I don't quite know why I love them as a pair so much, but I find the ebb and flow of their interactions so entrancing. I'm always pulled in. I cannot wait for season 2.

There was a little tension between them since episode 1. And more tension throughout the whole show than she had with Tyler!
Especially, too, if you want to go the "You keep giving me these signals" route. She gave away nothing to Tyler, but said so much in facial expressions to Xavier. I genuinely don't know where Tyler got his signals from, because none were given, at least not to him
