We need a female maker meet up video! As a girl who likes to build things, use tools and be creative, i can't tell you how great it is to see these two ladies having so much fun being 100% themselves. No competition, only laughs, support and creativity. I'm envious of the young girls growing up today seeing these awesome role models. 👏
Having this much fun should be illegal!! I laughed so hard at the board getting stuck! Thanks for being fearless and for showing everyone that sometimes, even failure, can be fun!
Honestly both great ideas, but the perfect idea would have been a combination of the two! Recessed carved out space for the knife, but the folding design so you could use both sides of the sheath for a larger cutting surface
The plastic hinge is on the inside of the folded board and so ist the carved out space for the knife. If you wanted to combine both, the carved out space would be on the surface of the cutting board, which would make it a worse cutting board.
I just watched the satellite chair build and you guys are so funny and so awesome. YOU HAVE A NEW SUBCRIBER.. You and Simone are so awesome !!!!! I can't wait to binge watch your content. ❤️
I love the concept of the dice. I am a writer (use the term loosely). I would always observe my surroundings and see wonderful characters, or a setting..some kind of scenario that I would write down on anything (usually my arms) then copy them on colored index cards. Blue for characters; green for settings; pink for some scenario. Then I would toss all the blue index cards in the air, and whatever was closest to me, that would be my character, etc. From there, I would try to create a story using those index cards. I, initially, would use this when I had writer's block. But then I came to find out, my creativity really took off. In fact, I have forgotten about this technique as I haven't been writing lately. I am going to go to all the cards I have saved throughout the years and give them a toss. Thanks for the reminder! Cheers! Oh , love Simone! You guys are great together!
I love watching you do woodwork-you are so talented and deft with your tools! Also, your friendship with Simone brings me so much joy. I smiled through this entire video! You have a new subscriber for life!
I am a master carpenter and love my job. Having said that I never laugh when I screw up. I love how you laugh when things go amiss. I think it's much healthier. Cheers
Oh man, once you've watched this video and wipe the tears of laugher from your eyes, you should know that Simone's video starts with Laura's voicemail pitch and it is _priceless_ .
I said this on Simone’s video… I am so grateful that the 2 of you met. The universe is so much better with you 2 connected. I discovered you watching Simone years ago and I couldn’t be happier! Your house series is like reading a novel, chapter by chapter.
Fantastic collaboration on both channels! I like that when you roll the dice, it is obvious what you get, but when you display them, you can pretend that you got something else if that is what you prefer. :)
As much as I love Simone's stuff, that folding cutting board is a horrible idea. It's cute, it's fun, it's an ingenuous design... But it's also impractical and pretty pointless. Laura's is slightly better (locking to the container is a great idea) but still flawed. Cleanliness and bacterial transfer issues are bad in both. The video is f'king awesome, though. So; no hate!
Laura, you were SAVAGE in this video! Poor Simone. lol I like the idea of Laura's cutting board where the knife stores inside it, but I think I would make it where the knife is closer to the edge and the board extends to the end of the handle. Make the board the same thickness as the knife handle. It wouldn't be any longer, but you would gain cutting area.
The knife getting stuck in the camper was hilarious! Reminds me of the shenanigans that happen when I go camping. Nothing ever goes right and that's most of the fun
First video for me Laura. You have legitimately professional skills with tools. I see so many "pros" who can't use their tools properly or safely. I see so many "knife snobs" and even chefs who can't use a knife. You used every tool perfectly. Great respect, here to stay. Awesome!
I like Simons ideas....after the presentation. It is actually doable with thicker piece of wood. Taking your idea of using a magnet to hold the knife would make the best combo. Sure is fun watching people making together.
There's one great use of Simone's design, say you're cutting herbs, you can use the hinge to funnel what's on the board more precisely. I still prefer Laura's design in the end.
It’s funny how I was totally with Simone at first like Laura just didn’t get the vision but then Laura killed it with the final product and sold me. Simone does get a handicap though for being the away team and not totally knowing what materials were at her disposal before designing the product haha.
I felt tension in the collaboration. I can't imagine how exhausted Simone has been since her surgery, but she's such a trooper. Laura, thanks for being patient and upbeat. Having married someone with a chronic disease, I can say they try so hard to be positive and display energy despite the pain they're in. Laura, I know you riff off energy and I can only imagine Simone's energy was up and down despite her best efforts. Plus, we all know the Germans are historically evil witches vanquished by the northern Scandinavians... I'm j/k. lol,

This was such fun to watch. I will always pick a wooden board over a plastic one, and Laura’s looked so beautiful. I’m not sure that the plastic used by Simone was food-safe but her concept worked well, too. Great job, ladies!

I somehow read the last sentence wrong and thought it said "This is a threat" and immediately thought "ya that's fair"
Agreed I was laughing my head off!
The hinge in Simone’s cutting board does allow it to turn into a funnel, of sorts, to pour whatever you’ve cut into a frying pan or pot.
And is also better for cleaning
The ending plot twist with Laura's cutting board had me laughing so hard 😂😂😂

It's very generous of Laura to transmit to us the old knowledge of banana halving. 🧙🏻
It's a skill that has been passed down since ancient times.
I'm always finding new ways to open a banana
okay but why was that both instructive and somehow hot
Honestly both great ideas, but the perfect idea would have been a combination of the two! Recessed carved out space for the knife, but the folding design so you could use both sides of the sheath for a larger cutting surface
A pocket-sized Tostones maker.. now they just gotta build a micro-fryolator to match.🤪
Not sure if this is possible, but have the board have two modes of locking to the container, one as shown, and the other as a lid.
@@caseykoons Actually I was thinking that having the container involved at all infringes on the 'too small' idea. (Sorry Laura)
Yeah, I think the upside of Simone's design is the way that it fits a larger cutting surface into the same compact space.
The plastic hinge is on the inside of the folded board and so ist the carved out space for the knife. If you wanted to combine both, the carved out space would be on the surface of the cutting board, which would make it a worse cutting board.
