This may just be my favorite scene of the entire show. The look on the Doctor's face when he realizes that he's in love with Seven was simply heartbreaking. Too bad they've never followed this story-line up. What a waste of potential.
He saw her as human. He knew she was beautiful and had about 1,000x as much potential to be human as she believed of herself. Student? Daughter? Lover? Well, he definitely did NOT see her as: Alien Robot Killer Hive Assassin Machine He most definitely did not think she was crazy. He saw her as a Person. Everything he saw he saw Beauty, Potential, and Humanity.
Maybe you can try to do it with AI :) Funny (or pretty scary) how much the technology has advanced in 14 years since you had posted the comment. Cheers!
I never understood why they made Seven and Chakotay into a couple. The Doctor and Seven both developed their humanity as the series advanced, and in doing so grew closer together. The Doctor was the perfect choice as a love interest for Seven, and the two shared a lot of great moments like this, but instead we got a forced romance with Chakotay completely out of left field.
I agree but, the doctor is her guide and teacher, if she romanced him (not to mention for traditional looks Chakotay would be a good choice) she'd have no one to help her.
Having read the (apparent) canonical book series religiously since it started, they break up Chakotay and Seven almost immediately probably for the same reasons you pointed out. However, it's not all plain sailing from there. [Spoilers from this point on]. Seven ends up in a relationship with Voyager's new ship counsellor, I forget his name (I don't like him much). The doctor's creator, Lewis Zimmerman, with the help of Barclay, delete all of the Doc's feelings for Seven believing it'll make him happier in the long run if he never remembers how he felt about her, however it ends up causing a serious cascade failure in his programme and as of now in the books he's still technically offline and broken. :(
I do have a little bit of a theory on why they thought Chakotay and Seven were made a couple. Both of them were outsiders and enemies of Starfleet before they came aboard Voyager. When they were taken away from what they had spent their lives around they had to adapt and become apart of the crew. This may have been a common ground for them and romance blossomed. But I still like the idea of Seven and the doctor being together much better. Their bond would have gone so much deeper.
I agree that some series are definitely lacking in story telling and actually having a well thought out plan of each episode, but some things like how I met your mother are pretty enjoyable. The thing that bugs me is that with Discovery they're saying they're taking the mistakes of DS9 and Voyager and fixing them to make something better, and I'm like at this point Voyager is perfect compared to Discovery
Best.StarTrek.Moment.Ever. Why? Two great characters, one not quite human, the other a holographic simulation, (although sentient) bonded by the universal language of music and ...love.. I know the feeling..
Given that the computer that controls him operates in the quintillions of operations per second, that eternity would feel like the age of the universe to a human
awesome. i thought about this song, when i woke up twenty minutes ago and the sun was shining for the first time this year in the morning :-). Greetings from Bavaria.
This was the most heartwarming and tearjerking episode I've seen thus far (I'm on my first watch of Voyager). I love Robert Picardo as doc. Both he and Jeri Ryan are exceptional.
VERY very cool, thanks for that cutscene (a cut of the episode I mean) I am german, I never heard it in original language, only in german :-))) (very great to hear!)
This moment is so beautiful. I think it was in the second or third season when the doctor had the exact conversation about adding more emotion into his voice with the opera hologram
God i love this scene. It's so beautiful, i god damn wish i was there. And well who in their right mind didn't like Jeri Ryan? Best scene in the franchise if you ask me.
It is not surprising the Doctor developed feelings for the Seven considering how much time they spent together. I am not sure how I feel about Seven and Chakoty since he gave up on Janeway.
+Kathic Seven and Chakotay was so forced - they even spent an entire episode together stranded on a primitive planet before the finale and not a hint of a spark was evident between them. On the strength of this episode, I'd rather have seen Seven and the Doctor try to form a stronger bond later, even if it meant undue complications.
@FlyingMonkies325 that being said I think even if Janeway didn't want to settle down, she and chakotay could have still had a great relationship, because in any case, they're all stuck on Voyager. I would have loved to see them get together.
@@MrStrawberryfields4 of course is real He can learn, adapt, think independent and he even has emotions. It depends on how you define live but I think that he is more real that Data
The Doctor has emotions but not form. Seven has form but not emotions. Both striving to become more human. Such a waste to not have them develop a romantic relationship.

I know. I always thought that Janeway and Chakotay would get together. They seem like a much better couple overall.

They also had a child together, Drone One.
They don't make complex, intelligent shows like this anymore.
anicetune, Sadly. What’s worse is discovery that tries to pass itself off as star trek.

Complex and intelligent are not words I would apply to most of Voyager.

what, you know the feeling when you sing with a Borg / Hologram?
My goodness. When he pauses and looks at Seven, that's when you realize that he loves her. That look is unmistakable.
Had that exact moment not too long myself. This episode helped me deal with the eventual heartbreak.
a hologram teaching a borg drone, how to add emotions to a song, and i fucking love it
Both so innocent in their own way :)
Can we just appreciate how amazing Jeri Ryan's voice is?
Yes we can, as long as we also appreciate Picardos voice as well
I wish they had of recorded this. I love this version and they both sing great and I love star trek too
they suit each other
And later on, they'll unsuit each other, hehehehe... :)
2:01. Beautiful.
The best version of this song
Lieutenant Commander Data once said
"0.68 seconds sir. For an android, that is nearly an eternity."
How much is 3 seconds for an EMH Mark I ?
Remo Good point
Given that the computer that controls him operates in the quintillions of operations per second, that eternity would feel like the age of the universe to a human
This is my most favourite clip in the entire Voyager (:
Wish they paired the Doc and Seven together :( They are an awesome team!
This scene made me remember how stranded and far away from home Voyager was, but despite that, they still had their beautiful moments

Wonderful acting from Jeri Ryan and Robert Picardo. I loved this scene. It was lighthearted and yet touching.
i was blown away by how good they sung
Robert Picardo and Jeri Ryan in this are sublime. When I watch this scene and hear the harmony and feel the hope...daaammn!
they made the song beautiful. I never liked it before

My dad used to always sing me this when I was a small child. This is my first time hearing this in a long time. I feel like crying.
