- We have never had to experience this particular issue with our chickens. But today, as we clean out their coop and get them ready for winter, we have a solution that we think will not only help fix the problem, but also save us money in the long run. It could not have come at a more perfect time, as we are right in the middle of expanding our flock and raising the next generation of egg layers here on the farm! We are excited to see if this new feeder is going to help. We hope you'll check out the link below to RentACoop's website!

I'm so glad you have started posting videos again!! I really missed you both when you were taking your break:)
Me too! I’d been wondering where y’all been.
Miss you two. Praying you are okay. Do what you love and share.
Baby chicks are so cute in spring
Hey Alex we hardly ever see you or hear you on here . Miss you. 💕💕
Sorry, I’m more of a behind the camera type of person. Lol 😬
Chickens are so dang curious. That feeder looks complicated but they’ll have it figured out in no time!
Jacob and Alex, I missed you all. I really enjoy your videos. I hope all is well.
Wood ashes from wood heater for dusting oyster shells crushed to help with good shells and grit course sand with small stones for gizzard to grind seeds that they eat
Hi good seeing you guys. Sorry about the chicken problem . Looks like you are doing all the right things after the fact. 🙏🙏 Prayers this helps solve the problem. Wood ash is all natural and is what I use all the time . The wood ash kills lice and mites pine chips are better for that as well. The turpentine in the chips help prevent lice and mites .
also fleaa
Great to see you back missed you
OMG this is what’s going on with my chickens not laying thank you so much glad you are back
Jacob I always enjoyed your videos because you always explain in detail what your doing and how your doing it. Your not in a hurry, which shows me you care about your audience. Love from Marsha and David in Kansas .
Glad you found out why they were not laying, l like the look of that feeder too.
Greetings from Ohio. Interesting story. Glad you are back. I miss Alex.
I’m just so glad to see y’all up, talken & sharen!!!🙌😇🙏✋✨
💕💕 Roots and Refuge👍!!! I met them in MO Homesteading conference 🙌🙌 also Fit farm so many others!!! 🙏😇🇺🇸🇺🇸 ✝️
wear a mask when cleaning out the enclosed coop for sure!
Great idea and another great video. Waiting on your next video.
I'm glad to see y'all back on here I miss y'all
I agree- you may want a second feeder, but looks like it's going to work great!
Love the diatomaceous earth and wood ash. We also use both and add some very dry soil. Our chickens don't love just sand so we usually try to mix with other things like soil, de, wood ash. They seem to prefer that. But we free range ours as much as possible and that seems to alleviate any issues. We love in michigan so in winter we have to give them alternatives for winter. They've done pretty well with the mix instead of just giving them one option.
Hope you guys are doing good. Miss your video's.
That is pretty niffty... and wouldn't you know it, there's one standing on top. Awsome video, thank you. God bless
I prefer the Pool Filter sand from Home D as the grains are bigger, I also mix a little Dee Earth into the sand that layers in the nest boxes. #PressOnRegardless.
Glad to see you back!
When my brother was little grandma told us kids not to go around the chickens because they had mites and were being doctored. Well he went to the chicken house and yes he got mites. Grandma and mom were sitting outside on the porch and my brother came and sat down with them and started scratching, well don't remember what they did but they took my brother and got rid of the mites. So people can get the mites from chickens so be careful.
Never new about the mites👍
Additional comment: also check out Chicken Chick’s ideas about droppings boards underneath the roosts in the coops.
Yeah. DE works great for mites! I give the girls a powdering all around the bodies trying not to get it in their lungs (and ours!). Great job!
GREAT PRODUCT INFORMATION AND, I WILL BE EXCITED TO HEAR YOUR UPDATE ON THE FEEDER 💡🐓🐔🐀💡
I'm dealing with chicken issues and need to make some changes. Thanks for sharing and giving me some ideas. ❤🙏
If you have to go as far as manually locking it to prevent raccoon then a simple brick under the platform would also help. And if your run is secure then that’s not even an issue. Hope to see more videos from you soon
Oh I wished they would of donated more than one feeder to you guys cause ya honestly use the things donated and not give them away like so many others you can see that do on U Tube. But in due time they'll see ya are legit and you'll be their best promoter if it does what they say. Looks like this product and company could have solved the chicken feeding and keeping other critters out. Good video Jacob. Alex I know your the camera lady but get that pretty smile on there. Bless ya
Alex it was sure nice to see you.
I don’t know much about chickens excepts what I have seen on UA-cam. I heard that you can make a dust bath from wood ashes and that would keep the mites at bay also. Since you just put in your fireplace you can use those ashes. Great way to recycle. Have a Blessed One. (Sorry, I commented before I saw the rest of the video) 😁
Lol. That’s ok. We have been using our wood ash from our stove!
That is all I use is wood ash from my stove. I leave the charcoal bits in cause the dinos like to eat them on occasion.
That looks like it would work real nice. They certainly weren't afraid of it.
Good job guys wild birds is it.
Very clever feeder design.
Super cool. Chickens sure seem to like it. 🥰
I sure hope they like the new feeder
I put cider in the nests and never have mites you can get a large bag at Walmart that will last you a long time I also put some in the rest of the floor of the hen house.
I do like the looks of that feeder.
Thank you for the information on the chicken feeder. Helpful.
I believe you need more that one feeder. Is a good idea
Happy Saturday Jacob and Alex
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed watching your videos. So glad to see you up again. Just wanted to mention for mites and lice I like to use First Saturday Lime in my chicken pen and dust bath. Beside helping rid the pen of little annoying bugs it provides calcium for the little ladies.
That chicken feeder is so very clever! Why didn't I think of that kind of things ya know. Very thorough review as you always cover all the details. Thx for sharing. Hugs to Y'all Ü
Enjoyed the video. Very informative and take care.
You always explain your work in great detail. Thank you. Another great video/vlog. Peace and Blessings 🙏
I use orange peels to keep mites at bay in plants. Here from outside.
Thx
Did not realized I missed you-all so much.2-clicks Peace.
Thanks for sharing
That is quite the feeder, good luck with introducing the new chicks to the old flock. Sorry to hear about the mite problem, lets hope you can clear it up quickly.
Great to see you back on channel interesting stuff thanks. Chris from England
Looks like a decent feeder thanks for sharing brother 👍
By the 3rd wk they will have learnt how to do it and their weight will be there also on the lever to open it for them to eat!!!
I use ash from the wood burner then seven dust in the nesting boxes and coop floor. I never had to treat my birds themselves though . Good luck guys
We will have to look into sevens dust
I’ve missed you both welcome back
Very cool feeder
I dont use hay any more I only use cedar chips .Hay here has mites in it.
Those chickens did
egg-cellent lol
Well done Thank you for sharing
I love the little chirpy sounds they make when feeding, I miss my chickens.
Glad you Guys are Back
So wonderful seeing your videos again❤️❤️
Hope you are all well x
That is cool
I think they like the feeder. You might need more than one. As for the bedding you took out. I would have put it in a burn barrel and disposed of it that way because of any motes that might have been in it.
Your chickens will be so very happy! Good to see you again!❤️
Glad your back
Fantastic, informative video. Thank you! 👍😊🐓🐣🐥
I would add some D.E. to the straw, my rabbits and chickens got mites from straw. I only use hay now.
I use diatomaceous earth on my pets, their bedding‘s and around the house. It’s excellent for fleas as well but I’m sure you know that if you use it. 😉
Yes, DE is great! We always put some in the bottom of the coop every time we clean it out.
They loved that new feeder and they took right to it. Bet they will love their new home. Thank you for sharing your home and your videos with me. Much appreciation.

Good morning Jacob and Alex.
This looks like a wonderful product. I can think of so many reasons why this would be practical. Food grade Diatomaceous earth has so many beneficial uses. Judah is huge and look at that gorgeous coat oh my goodness... He is beautiful.. How is Moses doing ?

Very cool chicken feeder. It will keep critters out and keep the feed clean. Anxious for your review.
Yep, looks like there going at it on eating. Be interesting when your ready to take the screw out after 2 wks and they use it. I'm like you I think it will be natural to them by then. Thanks for sharing Iowa cares 🥸
Yes, we made this video over a month ago and they’ve been eating out of it without the screw for probably 2-3 weeks now. They’re doing great with it!
Caged Rabbits are famous for mites too..
Hey, about time somebody decided what was good for wild birds would work for tame chickens ! I've had my bird feeder for almost 20 years.... glad to see you back.......
They didn't seem to have an issue with the new feeder.....and they say chickens are dumb.
I think not! Enjoyed the video. Thanks.
I'm with ya Mary. I think not also🙂
They caught on very fast!
My Grandmother used wood ash's to plus put them on her icy steps and walkway looks cool chicken's learned fast GOD BLESS YOU BOTH
