Wao an Historian is gone, RIP to him death is the aspect where God proves to us that we are nothing but tools in his hands God is the greatest that terrible but full of mercy being called Olodumore Iba oh 🙏
Thank you for your observation about the lack of organisation. I was aghast by how rowdy it was too! I mean this was Alafin. It was a shame there was not enough security and crowd control. The death of monarchs like Alaafin should have been planned. Right from how it would announced, broadcast, who would hear first, etc. Going through the tradition process and those who are now civilian administrators. In fact, before the announcement, security personnel would be at the Palace. State broadcaster should have had a programme already made under tight security ready to be broadcast on the announcement of his death. All these plans would have been done years ago and trial runs would have even taken place from time to time So sad the way it all went. So sad that it was so rowdy.
I agree. Our Obas are on their own there is no standing institutional support for their courts, no organized record keeping. Awujale in his autobiography mentioned our disorganized things were during his installation rites in 1960. The priests didn't even know what the proper rites were! They just made up stuff arbitrarily. There was no independently accessible record of past coronation rites. In most cases, it is down to individual families - of the priests, kingmakers and ruling houses. If the family is careless about preserving and passing things down the generations or if they become religious fundamentalist and choose to willfully forget the rites, swathes of our common heritage can be lost and we will be none the wiser.
@@yogunyemi I think it was time they started putting these process into writing with thr required protocols. The passing on of a monarch should be solemn, calm and well organised.
This is a DISGRACE to YORUBA TRADITION, A whole ALAFIN OF OYO BURIED like ordinary OLOYE. No organization, No control, No set up of Committe, ALAFIN should be embalmed and fixes a date for his BURIAL, and holiday must declare in OYO STATE.
Foreign religion of Christian and Islam has destroyed the Yoruba traditions. So sad, we uphold those religions more than our own ways of life. Africans are so myopic that we can sew that religion has been used to enslave us again, imagine how this man is talking about Islam he was there when it was brought to Africa.
Alafin Oyo represents all spiritual and religions...

There's traditional protocol in place but was not followed besides, islamic burial rites took lead over traditional rites.
It's sad! May Baba soul rest well
May his soul rest in perfect peace
Is all this history writing down or this is how we as Yoruba will be passing the history down the next generation
Bàbá Ìbàdàn, ẹ kú eto, a kú ara fẹ́ra kú.
The way they are still doing in Benin till date
