Did you know you can take your family out to find wild alligators?
If you’re going to Disney World or Universal in Orlando, be sure to add this quick trip to your plans. It’s only about 30 minutes away from Magic Kingdom.
You get to get on an airboat and ride through the swamps of Florida.
Airboats are special boats that have flat bottoms and instead of a motor being down in the water like most boats, an air boat is propelled forward by a propeller or big fan that pushes air out of the back to move it forward. This design is what makes the boat useable in swamps, marshes, and shallow waters where other boats would get tangled up in the plants, mud, and rocks.
We saw lots of alligators on our tour. We learned a lot about alligators as well.
Did you know Alligators can’t survive long in the ocean, but they can last a few hours or even days in salt water. New fear unlocked!
They can weigh more than 1,000 pounds.
Their eyes glow in the dark.
They prefer meat but aren’t opposed to fruit.
Their gender is determined by temperature.
They can grow up to 10-14 feet in length. That’s like your dad being twice his height!
They can run up to 35 mph on land and 20 mph in the water.
