For the center-back position maybe sign William Saliba or Mohamed Simakan since he can also play as a RB.

I think for the right back position as Carvajal is aging, a good pickup could be Youri Regeer. He's young and has a lot of room to grow under Carvajal. Very quick and can also play as the CDM as a back to Tchouameni as well.

Also if you make another create a club you should try to add you in your player career mode or you could do it in the Leon one.

I think player overalls in game don't work the same as real life. So I'm proposing a +1 ovr upgrade for every "3 goal contribution in 5 matches" he gets, if possible. So if Barbosa gets 3 goals in 5 matches, he should get a +1 in his ovr.
In the future maybe you can try sign Cristiano Ronaldo Jr into your academy, he is 13 years old in real life i think so in like 2-3 seasons you could try promote him to to first team
