Actually, sink already drowned a long time ago, he's just alive because of his strength of will, he's determined to get out of that trap, or wait until someone finds him, but the pain of being drowned happen once again and again without stop, so yeah, it must hurt a lot.

Lore : Sink.exe was just a normal sonic that dealt so many pain and he was alone how he got stuck in the water was that his leg got connected to a chain that leads to a crashed underwater mine, the crack sounds were from his leg breaking by the chain or his lungs collapsing due to the massive amount of water that got in, soul sonic is with him, his willpower was keeping him alive but he was just still there drowning with blood coming out of his eyes and nose due to how long he’s been there For people who know the spin dash: he didn’t do the spin dash because it was in the labyrinth zone in sonic 1 so the spin dash never existed
@@stuckinthematrixxx well I mean the concept of a spin dash does essentially have Sonic rolling into a ball to spin away so I'd imagine from to be able to do a spin that you would have to have both legs and tethered in the first place because how can he tuck his legs into a ball if he can't move it at all and so he likely wouldn't even be able to do a spin dash even if he tried to because one leg is tied down and therefore can't talk into the ball to initiate the spin dash and even if he could it wouldn't magically get him out of the chain and if he tried to use it to break the chain it likely wouldn't do so and even if it did Sonic can't swim he can only walk along the bottom of a surface so all really change would be that he'd be able to walk out eventually if he managed to properly navigate the Labyrinth Zone but if that was the case and he did eventually get out of the labyrinth Zone id imagine that he wouldn't realy have any life to return to I mean who knows how long he's been trapped down there and he has essentially become a zombie because he's died so many times chances are after he made it to the surface he wouldn't even be able to do anything I mean he might be able to sit down try to empty his lungs of all the water that's gotten in there over the years but who's this even say if he could breathe any last breath after his lungs have already given out and even if we are unreasonably optimistic here and say he's still functional after he escapes and say that he hasn't gotten used to the higher pressures of the deep depths so much that he struggles on land and that he can still walk without rotting like a zombie even if we're optimistic enough to say none of those things happen chances are everyone he's ever met and would of met in the cannon timeline have died I mean it's been who knows how long probably years and even if it isn’t that long there was no hero sonic failed wich means eggman won and that therfore sink would have no home to return to I hate to admit it because it's so sad but no matter what happens it seems that pain misfortune and regret are all the await sink wether he escapes or not

Sonic hoped there were air bubbles when he was sinking. but unfortunately....there were no air bubbles, so he just died there. But he made a promise, a promise to protect others. That promise gave him determination and strength to continue, but he has to keep waking up in the same spot. Hoping the chain will break, or waiting for somebody to save him, but who...? The only thing sonic can do is just wait and take the pain of drowning over and over again, infinitely.
