I think because even though she is of Italian origin, she was born and raised in Tunisia. Her native languages are Arabic and French. She didn't learn the Italian language until she was basically expected to learn it for film, when her parents brought her to Cincecitta' for auditions.
She was dubbed in movies during her early career because she did not speak Italian but also because of her hoarse voice, but that voice is one of her most attractive qualities. She's a stunning beauty but that voice that is hotter than any fire puts her in another realm altogether beyond Sophia Loren or Grace Kelly or any other beautiful woman of the 1960's. I fell in love with her when I heard her sultry, one of a kind voice. I could listen to her voice every day.

I sat through this whole video just to find a flaw ( I see the ugly in everything it seems) and literally couldn't find one thing wrong.
