Agreed. Reed Richards is a super important character in Marvel canon, and there have been what, 4 different actors portraying him on screen now (including the upcoming Pascal)? No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine have established that the Sony/Fox/etc films were all just parallel universes but very much in-play in the multiverse saga. So a strong precedent has been set to *easily* recast a character who specifically is known for his many multiversal variants. That said, (a) Majors did really nail the role quite well, (b) it would have been a pretty short timeframe for recasting such a central character, and (c) most importantly it would have continued to draw attention to the behind-the-scenes drama that lead to Jonathan Majors being dropped. The best way to sweep all of that under the rug is to pivot the storyline.

I remember thinking Kang was going to tempt Scott with time. Trading him the lost time with his daughter in exchange for helping him out of the Quantum realm. I thought the previews even pointed that way. I figured Scott would really struggle with that. Then it ends up being some kind of Twilight Zone, deal with the devil gone wrong ending.
Believe it or not but there was ALOT OF cut stuff from this movie I mean ALOTTTTT this movie was gonna be a lot better than what came as the final product if you watch the trailer you can tell some scenes were cut.
That was going to happen. The reason it was removed is because of the huge script leak that happened, which is why Marvel scrambled to change things at the last minute.
That would be too good of a story and we already know the Ant-Man franchise is just shits and goofy giggles. They should do a director’s cut on the title and put on D+. The after credits scene in antman should have shown that somehow Kangs defeat was all part of the plan, and that he allow it to happen to make things go where he needed it to be. The leaked Kang Dynasty script proved that we missed out on top-5 comic book movie of all time. Kang Dynasty was going to be peak cinema and now we get a lazy rushed casting of RDJ as Doom
Worst part is that at least RDJ as Doom could have been a real sweet reveal or twist within the movie but they threw that away. I love RDJ as much as any Marvel fan but Tony is dead and just making a variant of him become Doom is dumb and except for the twist it could have been.
Jonathan Majors was a genius by adding the clause in his contract that he is the only one that can play kang or any kang variant in the MCU! He is a great loss to the MCU and now marvel is pulling all the stops just to get the multiverse saga to continue without Kang as the villain.
Marvel should've sucked it up and paid him off for that and recast the character. They were able to come to an agreement with Scarlett they could've figured out a way and bought themselves time to reintroduce him later all but finding ways to bring him into certain movies in post credit scenes like Deadpool for example just like they did with Thanos and then have him properly introduced at the end of Fantastic Four or something going into Kang Dynasty. They had the money they could've paid off Majors

Yes they should have kept Kang further in to the Multiverse Saga but we all know Dr Doom is the true villian of Secret Wars so it would've been awesome to see Kang and his variants killed off by Doom on screen
I still believe He Who Remains will become He who Remains after Secret Wars. Look it as: Loki removed him, one version is exciled(might return), due to this loki's decision (multi tree) multiversel war will again happen, they'll fight doom & at the end defeat doom. Then with that i believe they will go back to single looped timeline just like we had in loki S1. And guess what who'll manage it? Kang(exciled one) who became He who Remains. What a Story! Here's how to fix Kang. Cast a perfect Iron Lad, then recast Kang later on after the Doom stuff and use the original Young Avengers story lead by Hawkeye and Wiccan. (along with making Scar disappear while accidentally make a Hulkling or something)
I totally agree, Chadwick Boseman's roles as Black Panther, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, and Jonathan Majors as Kang are all exceptional performances. Each of those characters has a unique depth that makes them stand out in the Marvel universe. It's amazing to see these actors bring such complex characters to life!

Introducing the greater scope villain in a Disney Plus show was a bad move, but one other way they significantly botched Kang was changing Quantumania's ending at the last minute. There was a leak going around last summer which summarised the movie in accurate detail if you read it now. That is, until you reached the climax. Instead of opening a portal back to Earth, the "Ant Fam" (another abandoned plot point) had Quantum wristwatches based on the devices Tony built in Endgame. These watches are fixed, and they go back to Earth, but Scott is left behind, and Kang beats the shit out of him ala Thanos in Infinity War. Hope goes back for Scott, but this is what Kang wanted. He steals her Quantum device and escapes, leaving Scott and Hope stranded. Kang in Quantumania was going to be the main antagonist of The Kang Dynasty. One thing I’ve noticed in Phase 4 amidst the haphazard development is that each movie ended with the main character out of action. Nobody remembered Peter Parker was Spider-Man, Doctor Strange was in the Dark Dimension, Thor was off on his own with Love, and now Ant-Man and Wasp were trapped in the Quantum Realm. Then they abandoned this and said that Quantumania Kang was just a variant. This is how you shoot yourself in the foot. Ironically, Ant-Man well and truly put a stop to Kang's conquest in real life.
They can't blame anyone but themselves for ball dropping KANG. Kangs most notable trait was being anyone he wanted in different variants, BUT they screwed that up by using one actor to be every kang smh.
Well, I love both, Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, He Who Remains, Victor Timely, Immortus, Rama Tut, Scarlet Centurion and all their variants and Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man and Doctor Doom. As does Josh Brolin as Thanos and James Spader as Ultron
I totally agree. Had Marvel delved deeper into Kang's backstory and motivations, his potential as a villain could have surpassed that of Thanos. Kang has the ability to be more unpredictable and terrifying due to his control over time, which adds a unique dimension to the character. Had he been given a more focused approach and a more solid build-up in the films, he would certainly have been a more complex and fascinating rival to the Avengers.
But what good news that the lawsuit has been dismissed, I am sad that Jonathan Majors lost the role of Kang the Conqueror, but he got new opportunities in Merciless and Magazine Dreams, but of course I want him to be Kang the Conqueror again.
Putting Kang in Quantamania was an insane choice in my opinion. They could've put him up against any too tier avenger but they chose Scott. I'm not saying Ant man is bad but he was not the right one for this
The Quantum Realm is the place where time "works differently" thus being the place where any version of Kang would hide in any local universe. I still think the Quantum Realm as depicted was too small or that it was too easy to find Kang and Janet in this near infinite field at that scale, but I digress. The meeting of Kang and Ant-Man was inevitable as Dr Pym is the one who opens the door to the Quantum Realm and Scott is acting as the "action man" in the field for Dr Pym. An Ant-Man and the Wasp movie was the perfect setting for a "first" meeting with Kang; in any other movie with another hero it would have taken too long to create and justify the correct context for meeting Kang. I'm pretty sure the initial reason for developing the Ant-Man franchise was precisely to take advantage of this access to the Quantum Realm (that, and for allowing Tony Stark to have access to Dr Pym's technology enabling him to develop his own nanotechnology; Stark can't be the only genius in the 616-Universe beside Banner) Why make that young Kang so powerful at that moment if only to see him defeated by a two tier Avenger? Kang should have lost/escaped, but he should have learned from the events of that movie and later make another more dramatic appearance against a stronger opponent and win, consolidating his reputation as a terrible threat for the Multiverse.
I literally bought the marvel legends deluxe kang the conqueror figure recently and re reading timeless I'm missing kang and rewatched quantumania I only like that movie for the kang parts he was so wasted as much as i love doom I want more kang

When TMZ asked Jonathan Majors about Disney and Kang's role, it seems that Jonathan gave some answers regarding his interest or stance on returning to the MCU if the opportunity were to arise. This could be a point of interest for Marvel fans and those who have followed his run on the franchise.
The problem with final bosses is that they should only appear in the final movie. With a multiverse and variants you run the risk of showing the audience a runt version of Kang and confusing everyone. Dune does a really good job of making you root for the eventual "villain" of the movie. Joker also made a weak character appear strong at the end, but there is cultural pressure to make villains lose and heroes win in every movie. Kevin Feige must've been so preoccupied that he let go of the reins and the whole thing derailed in Ant-man 3.
I think they might surprise everyone and bring Kang back to at least rap up his part. Kang has connections to Doom and Reed, they would be fools to do nothing. Just a hand wave explanation will not be good enough. I'm hoping they bring Majors back like they did Gunn.

Sometimes legal situations are more complex than they appear at first glance, and they don't always indicate guilt. Also, it's not uncommon for parties to settle out of court for various reasons. It's quite possible that this wasn't the end of his career, and that we're actually witnessing a new beginning for him.
I feel really bad for Jonathan Majors he was a great actor and all of sudden bad things start happening irl that critically impacts his career and reputation due to legal issues and on top of that his character of Kang was terribly misused and done dirty by the likes of the MCU iteration what wasted potential that was it really pissed me off that he got beat by Ant Man of all ppl when he was badass compared to his comic book and animation counterparts, Deux Ex Machina bullsh*t plotholes doesn’t justify bad writing ya know if your plan is to build the entire saga or story arc surrounding a main character/antagonist
I completely understand how you feel. I feel bad for myself, it's a shame to see how the Jonathan Majors situation has affected his career, because he really was an impressive talent. It's even more frustrating to see how his character of Kang was treated so poorly in the MCU. The potential that character had was wasted, especially in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania', where he was portrayed in a way that didn't do justice to his power and presence, something that was so imposing in the comics and animation. And, as you mention, you can't justify a Deus Ex Machina when the writing is so weak. It's definitely disappointing to see how this is all being handled in the MCU.
Something very simple that could have helped the Jonathan Majors recast, was to have different actors playing varients of Kang, instead of making literally every single 1 of them Majors In the Vast Multiverse, there should be a White Kang, Chinese Kang, Australian Kang, Duck Kang, RDJ Kang, Potato Kang But for some reason they made them all the same dude, its like they dont understand their own concept of a multiverse Kang was 1 villain they could have recast really easily using their own multiverse logic, but instead they just act like he never happened

Ravonna being a Kang Variant would have perfectly mirrored Mr and Mrs Loki. They even oppose the Lokis in purpose. They shoyld have stuck with Renslayer after they dumped Majors.
Really hoping they pulled back on Kang because they decided he needs more build up (i.e. kid Iron Man, Fantastic Four fighting him in Ancient Egypt, etc.), such that we're actually going to be seeing a lot more of Kang in the future.

Nothing got dismissed. He settled to shut her up. That’s all I need to know. An innocent man would go to trial with these stakes. He basically rolled over to save as much of his wealth as he can cause he’s never working in Hollywood again and he knows it.

I’m one of those people that hated Majors’ Kang. Just not intimidating and not funny either so basically just seemed fake to me. I think Mahershala Ali would have made a way better villainous Kang. He’s got the actual acting chops for it, and let’s face it Majors was just a trendy pick. But they wanted Ali for Blade cause he kinda resembles Wesley Snipes. Oh well.

Bringing him in on Loki was Brilliant following that up with ANT-MAN was horrible. They should've carried that on from season 2 of Loki Into maybe a Thor movie or maybe keep him as a background Villian for some time like they did with Thanos, doing this would've also allowed for them to the recast and give us a new Kang as the main Kang and use the Loki storyline as just He who remains. Because of the multiverse that would've been the better option and then give us Doom in secret war after Kang dynasty in the next phase. Let doom be the fastastic four bad guy in the next phise or something. ANT-MAN was where it all went wrong outside of Majors personal issues that could've been fixed if not for how they mishandled the character in ANT-MAN 3

I definitely think with the way he was beat. He's just being saved for the next universe. He'll try to recreate the sacred timeline. So he'll be fully powered. Time abilities and all. But he'll end up being beaten by all the newer heroes. It will be a full fight. The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic 4. If Kang wins that fight. He becomes "he who remains" Logan being the only survivor is haunted and displaced. Kang can then weave any sacred timeline he wants. But if he loses it turns out Galactus eats all universes not in the Sacred timeline.
Like I get what was Marvel probably trying to do, seal Kang into the Probability Storm and have him become even stronger there. But the way they got him there was straight up bad, he gets overwhelmed by giants ants and then Modok... He should have dominated everyone without any troubles, so it forces Antman and the other to find a tactical way to seal him into the Probability Store.
I agree, I have always dreaded the multiverse story because I watched the Arrowverse do it and you can tell the difference between both Crisis of Earth X and the rest. I feel like Kang should have been saved for the Xmen because of the role he plays with Bishop, but also that its not really a multiverse story with him, its a time travel. Whether its Rama Tut or Immortus or Ironlad, its always Nathaniel. And sure you could imbed him throughout the multiverse but its watching Dt. Doom and his allies fail that propels him. And then you would also have the triumphant entry of the Fantastic Four enter but they also bring into the dread that they bring into existence the danger of Kang
I understand why Marvel directors made the decision to step away from Jonathan Majors. What I don't understand is why they didn't recast him or used him as a villain who pulled the strings in the background until they found a viable solution. They really did waste Kang and a lot of interesting stories. I mean Iron Lad? Such a missed opportunity. But I guess we'll have to wait and see if MCU found their way back to good cinema^^
Disney could’ve sent Majors on a rehab tour and kept him as Kang: a sit down interview with Gayle King, getting grilled by the View, etc. Instead we’re getting an Avengers 1.0 retread. Enjoy it while you can fellas the MCU is about to die after Doomsday fails miserably.

I remember thinking Kang was going to tempt Scott with time. Trading him the lost time with his daughter in exchange for helping him out of the Quantum realm. I thought the previews even pointed that way. I figured Scott would really struggle with that. Then it ends up being some kind of Twilight Zone, deal with the devil gone wrong ending.
Believe it or not but there was ALOT OF cut stuff from this movie I mean ALOTTTTT this movie was gonna be a lot better than what came as the final product if you watch the trailer you can tell some scenes were cut.

That was going to happen. The reason it was removed is because of the huge script leak that happened, which is why Marvel scrambled to change things at the last minute.
That would be too good of a story and we already know the Ant-Man franchise is just shits and goofy giggles. They should do a director’s cut on the title and put on D+. The after credits scene in antman should have shown that somehow Kangs defeat was all part of the plan, and that he allow it to happen to make things go where he needed it to be. Kang always the puppet master , even though pinocchio seems to have become a real boy. I actually thought that was what they were gonna do when I saw that he lost.
The leaked Kang Dynasty script proved that we missed out on top-5 comic book movie of all time. Kang Dynasty was going to be peak cinema and now we get a lazy rushed casting of RDJ as Doom
Worst part is that at least RDJ as Doom could have been a real sweet reveal or twist within the movie but they threw that away. I love RDJ as much as any Marvel fan but Tony is dead and just making a variant of him become Doom is dumb and except for the twist it could have been.

Jonathan Majors was a genius by adding the clause in his contract that he is the only one that can play kang or any kang variant in the MCU! He is a great loss to the MCU and now marvel is pulling all the stops just to get the multiverse saga to continue without Kang as the villain.
Marvel should've sucked it up and paid him off for that and recast the character. They were able to come to an agreement with Scarlett they could've figured out a way and bought themselves time to reintroduce him later all but finding ways to bring him into certain movies in post credit scenes like Deadpool for example just like they did with Thanos and then have him properly introduced at the end of Fantastic Four or something going into Kang Dynasty. They had the money they could've paid off Majors

I still believe He Who Remains will become He who Remains after Secret Wars. Look it as: Loki removed him, one version is exciled(might return), due to this loki's decision (multi tree) multiversel war will again happen, they'll fight doom & at the end defeat doom. Here's how to fix Kang. Cast a perfect Iron Lad, then recast Kang later on after the Doom stuff and use the original Young Avengers story lead by Hawkeye and Wiccan. (along with making Scar disappear while accidentally make a Hulkling or something)
Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther, Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier & Jonathon Major's Kang are all knock out acting parts.
I totally agree, Chadwick Boseman's roles as Black Panther, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, and Jonathan Majors as Kang are all exceptional performances. Each of those characters has a unique depth that makes them stand out in the Marvel universe. It's amazing to see these actors bring such complex characters to life!

Introducing the greater scope villain in a Disney Plus show was a bad move, but one other way they significantly botched Kang was changing Quantumania's ending at the last minute. There was a leak going around last summer which summarised the movie in accurate detail if you read it now. That is, until you reached the climax.
Instead of opening a portal back to Earth, the "Ant Fam" (another abandoned plot point) had Quantum wristwatches based on the devices Tony built in Endgame. These watches are fixed, and they go back to Earth, but Scott is left behind, and Kang beats the shit out of him ala Thanos in Infinity War.
Hope goes back for Scott, but this is what Kang wanted. He steals her Quantum device and escapes, leaving Scott and Hope stranded.
Kang in Quantumania was going to be the main antagonist of The Kang Dynasty. One thing I’ve noticed in Phase 4 amidst the haphazard development is that each movie ended with the main character out of action. Nobody remembered Peter Parker was Spider-Man, Doctor Strange was in the Dark Dimension, Thor was off on his own with Love, and now Ant-Man and Wasp were trapped in the Quantum Realm.
Then they abandoned this and said that Quantumania Kang was just a variant. This is how you shoot yourself in the foot. Ironically, Ant-Man well and truly put a stop to Kang's conquest in real life.
Bring back Kang and Jonathan Majors.
They can't blame anyone but themselves for ball dropping KANG. Kangs most notable trait was being anyone he wanted in different variants, BUT they screwed that up by using one actor to be every kang smh.
Well, I love both, Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, He Who Remains, Victor Timely, Immortus, Rama Tut, Scarlet Centurion and all their variants and Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man and Doctor Doom. As does Josh Brolin as Thanos and James Spader as Ultron
I totally agree. Had Marvel delved deeper into Kang's backstory and motivations, his potential as a villain could have surpassed that of Thanos. Kang has the ability to be more unpredictable and terrifying due to his control over time, which adds a unique dimension to the character. Had he been given a more focused approach and a more solid build-up in the films, he would certainly have been a more complex and fascinating rival to the Avengers.
But what good news that the lawsuit has been dismissed, I am sad that Jonathan Majors lost the role of Kang the Conqueror, but he got new opportunities in Merciless and Magazine Dreams, but of course I want him to be Kang the Conqueror again.
Putting Kang in Quantamania was an insane choice in my opinion. They could've put him up against any too tier avenger but they chose Scott. I'm not saying Ant man is bad but he was not the right one for this
The Quantum Realm is the place where time "works differently" thus being the place where any version of Kang would hide in any local universe. I still think the Quantum Realm as depicted was too small or that it was too easy to find Kang and Janet in this near infinite field at that scale, but I digress. The meeting of Kang and Ant-Man was inevitable as Dr Pym is the one who opens the door to the Quantum Realm and Scott is acting as the "action man" in the field for Dr Pym. An Ant-Man and the Wasp movie was the perfect setting for a "first" meeting with Kang; in any other movie with another hero it would have taken too long to create and justify the correct context for meeting Kang. I'm pretty sure the initial reason for developing the Ant-Man franchise was precisely to take advantage of this access to the Quantum Realm (that, and for allowing Tony Stark to have access to Dr Pym's technology enabling him to develop his own nanotechnology; Stark can't be the only genius in the 616-Universe beside Banner)
Why make that young Kang so powerful at that moment if only to see him defeated by a two tier Avenger? Kang should have lost/escaped, but he should have learned from the events of that movie and later make another more dramatic appearance against a stronger opponent and win, consolidating his reputation as a terrible threat for the Multiverse.
I literally bought the marvel legends deluxe kang the conqueror figure recently and re reading timeless I'm missing kang and rewatched quantumania I only like that movie for the kang parts he was so wasted as much as i love doom I want more kang

It would’ve been nice to see the Sony spider-man villain movie universes (Kraven, Morbius, etc.) get destroyed in incursions.
The problem with final bosses is that they should only appear in the final movie. With a multiverse and variants you run the risk of showing the audience a runt version of Kang and confusing everyone. Dune does a really good job of making you root for the eventual "villain" of the movie. Joker also made a weak character appear strong at the end, but there is cultural pressure to make villains lose and heroes win in every movie. Kevin Feige must've been so preoccupied that he let go of the reins and the whole thing derailed in Ant-man 3.
They did not ruin him in quantum mania, his legal battles just didnt let Kang finish cooking.

Nah he settled the lawsuits. You don’t do that if you’re innocent. You only need a jury majority to win a lawsuit. That was him saying he couldn’t win cause there’s good evidence against him and so he salvaged as much of his wealth as he can cause his career is over

Sometimes legal situations are more complex than they appear at first glance, and they don't always indicate guilt. Also, it's not uncommon for parties to settle out of court for various reasons. It's quite possible that this wasn't the end of his career, and that we're actually witnessing a new beginning for him.

I completely understand how you feel. I feel bad for myself, it's a shame to see how the Jonathan Majors situation has affected his career, because he really was an impressive talent. It's even more frustrating to see how his character of Kang was treated so poorly in the MCU. The potential that character had was wasted, especially in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania', where he was portrayed in a way that didn't do justice to his power and presence, something that was so imposing in the comics and animation. And, as you mention, you can't justify a Deus Ex Machina when the writing is so weak. It's definitely disappointing to see how this is all being handled in the MCU.

Something very simple that could have helped the Jonathan Majors recast, was to have different actors playing varients of Kang, instead of making literally every single 1 of them Majors

I’m one of those people that hated Majors’ Kang. Just not intimidating and not funny either so basically just seemed fake to me. I think Mahershala Ali would have made a way better villainous Kang. He’s got the actual acting chops for it, and let’s face it Majors was just a trendy pick. But they wanted Ali for Blade cause he kinda resembles Wesley Snipes. Oh well.

Because of the multiverse that would've been the better option and then give us Doom in secret war after Kang dynasty in the next phase. ANT-MAN was where it all went wrong outside of Majors personal issues that could've been fixed if not for how they mishandled the character in ANT-MAN 3

I definitely think with the way he was beat. He's just being saved for the next universe. He'll try to recreate the sacred timeline. So he'll be fully powered. Time abilities and all. But he'll end up being beaten by all the newer heroes. It will be a full fight. The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic 4. If Kang wins that fight. He becomes "he who remains" Logan being the only survivor is haunted and displaced. Kang can then weave any sacred timeline he wants. But if he loses it turns out Galactus eats all universes not in the Sacred timeline.
One day, Marvel will figure out what to do with a villain. Maybe with Dr. Doom. But I am not sure, maybe with Magnito.

Like I get what was Marvel probably trying to do, seal Kang into the Probability Storm and have him become even stronger there. But the way they got him there was straight up bad, he gets overwhelmed by giants ants and then Modok...

I agree, I have always dreaded the multiverse story because I watched the Arrowverse do it and you can tell the difference between both Crisis of Earth X and the rest. I feel like Kang should have been saved for the Xmen because of the role he plays with Bishop, but also that its not really a multiverse story with him, its a time travel. Whether its Rama Tut or Immortus or Ironlad, its always Nathaniel. And sure you could imbed him throughout the multiverse but its watching Dt. Doom and his allies fail that propels him. And then you would also have the triumphant entry of the Fantastic Four enter but they also bring into the dread that they bring into existence the danger of Kang
The way Loki set Kang up to be the big bad was spectacular. And then Marvel just fumbled the ball. Smh. They really let me down with that one.
I understand why Marvel directors made the decision to step away from Jonathan Majors. What I don't understand is why they didn't recast him or used him as a villain who pulled the strings in the background until they found a viable solution.
