do yourself a favor and add glaze to whatever paint you have, that gives it open time. or makes it dry slower giving you time to whatever you want to it.
I'm using cellulose floor varnish for wood mixed with cellulose white and cream on concrete to make s durable marble floor. It takes a bit of practice. Can't wait to clear coat it. Thank you for this - I bought 2 of the "kits" and I am not crazy about the techniques. I love yours and you AND your accent (I'm from south GA); it reminds me of home and of close friends I have in Eastern NC. Take care and thank you so much for this! You rock! =)
Oh Donna, I'm so glad you found it helpful!! I watched a lot of videos before I did this and I found that the one I found the most helpful was a lady drinking wine while she was painting! haha! I'm glad the accent brought back good memories for you! I hope your painting project goes great!!! =}
Yayyy I’m glad you found my video helpful! I hope your counters turn out great and you love them! Mine are going on 5 years old and I still love them! 😁
This is AMAZING! Thank you so much for showing us all of this!!! I don't know yet when I will be doing this yet, we just bought our house and the counter tops are just horrible plastic blobby things.
Could you use this method of painting on culture marble (a bathroom vanity)? So glad I found your videos .... you are truly inspiring me that I can do my home renovations MYSELF!! (my husband is a Debbie downer).
That's exactly why I've learned to do so much myself....I would rather just do it than listen to him complain about doing it the whole time! lol I've personally never painted on the cultured marble (one of the few things I haven't put paint on lol) but I would certainly give it a try. When I first started painting my countertops...sometime in the 90's.....I used a shiny surface primer that was sold for boats and it was AMAZING. I didn't have any trouble with my paint peeling or scratching off of the tiles I painted. I bought it at Lowe's but I've been told they no longer carry it but if I were you, I would try to get my hands on some of that to prime it with first then paint your heart out!!! lol =}
Gina- This is just amazing to watch! I love the shine on your counter tops! Great job girl! Your husband must have been thrilled with how you transformed your kitchen!
mysonruns Thank you Katie! Honestly he couldn't care less! lol I have been doing this for 30 years now! We've lived in this house for almost 20 years and I have redone the kitchen 8 times (I think, it might be more) lol Maybe one of these days I'll see if I can dig out pics of what it looked like some of the other times! My dad used to joke and say that my house didn't need insulation I had enough paint on the walls to cover that! lol =}
Looks very nice and I just love how you are not afraid to do trial and error until you get the look you want. You are creative and so inspiring, just what I need. Also, can one put a layer of polyurethane over this to protect more?
Thank you so much! I sealed mine with a water based polyurethane because it won’t yellow it. The oil based ones will turn it yellow immediately and get worse over time. Mine have held up great though so I would totally recommend it! 👍🏻
Thanks! Love the kitty at the end. I want to try something like this with blues instead of gray. We have a countertop that is marbled green but I want to change it to blue because we are getting rid of the avocado green fixtures in the bathroom.
Wow! I am totally amazed at what you just did! I LOVE Carera but of course could never afford to replace my countertops with it. This looks just like the real thing. A question for you...how did you prime the counter tops before painting them with the grey..or did you? Thank you for an excellent video and the courage to just DO IT! I'm always so afraid of making a mistake, but you showed us that it's so easy and basically foolproof! Thank You!
Hi, I just did my own counter tops, and I personally used kilz water based white primer from Wal-Mart, then let it dry for about 6 hours or so then I used the 50cents to 99cents acrylic paint from Wal-Mart and it came out beautiful... o recommend getting the dolphin grey for the light grey based, a dark grey for some depth and texture tones, black for the Beijing's, and white, so you would need about 4 colors, and I used a sea foam sponge from the dollar tree....
Thank you so much Amy! I primed them with a water based Kilz! You can totally do this look! Just play around on a scrap board until you get a technique you like down and then you’ll be ready and confident enough to tackle your counter tops! =}
Marble contact paper is so much neater and easier. And looks the same. It looks great..did my tv stands first then my dining table. Next will be my kitchen counters and back splash. Just wipe clean no stain. Looks so pretty wont come off until you take it off. Amazon heavy duty vinyl contact paper. Pull off the paper and smooth as you go slow. Easy to cut.
Great tutorial and your counters look amazing! You inspired me to try this on my bathroom counter and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Now I want to tackle my kitchen counters BUT... I used the same polycyclic you did with about 5-7 coats (lost track lol) but the other day I left a wet bottle on the counter and when I removed it, there was a huge white-milky kind of water spot I guess. I got worried thinking I ruined the counter but the next day it was gone! I worry now about the kitchen counter especially the part behind the sink which is always getting wet. Has this happened to you? Would more coats combat this do you think? Thanks again for your great tutorial?
Awesome Janadian, I'm glad you found my video helpful! I've never had that happen with any of my painted counter tops. I wonder if it was because yours were done so recently and the polyurethane will cure better/harder over time and it won't do that any more? I babied mine in the beginning and dared my family to sit anything on them for probably the first month?!? I would love to know if this continues to happen to yours!
+MsDreamcakes Thank you so much for your quick reply! Like paint, don't know why I didn't think of a "Curing Period" lol. Sounds reasonable that this might be the problem and if your counters are still holding up... I'll go with it :-D Thanks again and I'll let you know how it goes.
What kind of paint do you use? Water based? Acrylic? I know you mentioned clear polyurethane topcoat. I love this technique I am going to use this technique on my coffee table, 2 end tables and a sofa table. I can't wait!!
Yes, everything is water based (acrylic), the paint and the sealer! I'm excited for you to give it a try!!! I love mine and have painted my countertops and tabletop in my RV using this method! Let me know how yours goes!! =}
Hi, I love your technique. Looks do ez but i am very good at messing things! I do want to try this on my rest room marble vanity. Would i use the same ware based primer and sealant?
Hi JD, if your surface is real marble I’m not sure I would recommend this for that surface. If your surface is man made marble you can paint it but I would use an oil based primer. I have found that a primer used to prime boats works really well on very smooth surfaces like man made marble! =}
"paloma-marina" , and "lupinear" -I hate haters, and posters like you...people like you just suck in negativity. She's just showing what she did in a method, and if it's not up to your par in results/ or a good enough tutorial for you -then maybe you shouldn't be so stupid to watch homemade method videos then, because what do you expect?? If you don't like it because it's not good enough for you....then it's simple -watch a professional video, with a professional product if you don't like it, and don't slam someone just because they shared a method that worked for them. If you're so smart, and can do it better -then make your own damn video. I'm an art major, and a painter, and won awards in college, so I'm decent at it, and picky when it comes to other painter's skills -I think the woman did a pretty impressive job in painting...
I've seen in the comments you recommend a shiny primer for actual countertops? what do you mean by that? Sorry I've never done anything like this and the house I'm moving into has hideous dingy yellow countertops and love the way this look so I really want to try it
I mean you should use a shiny surface primer so that the paint will stick to the formica really good. I just painted the countertops in my RV and I'm working on the video to go up later today. I used a primer meant for boats. I bought it online on Amazon and it's called "Total Boat" by Jamestown Distributors. I've painted almost every kind of surface I you can imagine! lol =}
MsDreamcakes your comment to the cat is what had me. I laughed so hard, your a mess but in a good funny way. Thank you for that and I am excited to ty your method out someday.
Hi...you've done a beautiful job on this.I actually painted my countertops a few years ago and they turned out better than I expected. Unfortunately, they've begun to "yellow" from the polyurethane we used to seal it. I was curious if you've had any discoloration with the polycrylic? I'm planning on redoing mine next week and I want to make the best possible choice in sealers this time. Thanks!
Hey Tralace! I didn’t understand polyurethane on mine for that very reason. I did use it when they were black because it didn’t matter. I knew it would yellow my white ones so I used a water based sealer! It’s worked beautifully! No yellowing at all! I used polycrylic by Minwax! I hope you get yours exactly like you want this next time!! =}
+laura przgoda I just clean them with whatever I'm cleaning the rest of the kitchen with. They will get stains like mustard but I just spray a mixture of bleach and water and they come right up!
Thank you for the video! I have a rental home that had countertop painted texture so i start scrap if off the paint. The person who painted did an awful job, i might not be able to get the original laminate back since the paint is thick. Can I put the primer over it or sand them down and primer then paint it over? another question Does polyurethane work to use after paint laminate countertop? I ask the lowes employee, they say don't put polyurethane on countertop.
+yenlan patton If it's hard to get the paint off I would just sand it down a little and paint over it. If you get it back down to the laminate you will need to prime it first with a shiny surface primer before you paint it. I haven't had any trouble with the polyurethane on my painted countertops but I wouldn't put it directly on the laminate without paint under it. I hope you are able to fix them without too much trouble! =}
I just used acrylics! You absolutely can put epoxy over acrylic paint, I just did my countertops white with epoxy but I had to buy some white pigment to mix in the epoxy because it yellows immediately but with the pigment mixed in it’s a beautiful white! I’ll link the video where I show them if you want to check it out! ua-cam.com/video/IoxstOEzJos/v-deo.html

How has your sealer handled daily life? I’m re-doing mine now. I did this once and put a fancy sealer on it and it yellowed from the sun and took Kool-Aid stains 😞
My sealer has done really good! I have had a couple small spots that “chipped” but it chipped all the way thru to the paint too so I just touched it up with a dab of fingernail polish that matched it! I used a water based sealer so that it didn’t yellow! I have found that where grease/oil comes in contact with it often it became a tiny bit tacky to the touch but I just put another coat of sealer and it fixed the problem! =}
Awesome tutorial!! I'm stoked to try this! I've watched a few other videos on how to achieve this look and yours is, by far, the most informative, the easiest, and the most fun to watch 😁I have a quick question: In the other videos I watched they used a black primer, is this something you'd suggest? If I'm painting over dark green (ugh) laminate, do I need a primer or just a good cleaning with a product like TSP?
+Amber Goodman Awww thank you so much!!! I wouldn't start with a black primer. I'm no professional but it makes more sense to start with a white, in my opinion! Let me know how yours turns out I love hearing how it works and if you like it or not! =}
What type of material is that you're painting on? Did you do a top coat first? Clearly I missed something. Really really nice, and I LOVE your countertops, they look natural to me!
Great job. Love the look. How is your countertops holding up after one year? I'm planning to do this to my mother's kitchen top and just curious about how it will hold up.
Thank you TheSweetpea73! I have no complaints what so ever! My husband caused a nick in it but he was using the hammer on the counter to hammer something so you can't expect it to hold up under that! lol I don't ever cut anything on them directly I always use a cutting board and I don't sit hot stuff on them without using a pad under it but other than that I don't treat them special in any way! I've gotten stains on them and I just spray it with bleach water and they bleach right out! I hope your mom's turn out great, I love mine! =}
Thank you Ted, I used a water based sealer because I don't want it to yellow. The oil based ones ALWAYS yellow and since these are white I wanted them to stay white. I haven't had any trouble with it being done with a water based sealer either so I'm very happy about that! =}
love the video, we just bought a fixer upper and don't have much of a budget so this is going to help us a lot! Did you let the paint dry before the top coat?
I used a gloss sealer not a satin and so far it looks horrible! I loved the paint job but the sealer isn’t working like I thought it would. I’ve only done 2 coats so maybe more will help. If you have a tip, please reply! Thank you for this video!
I don’t use an oil based sealer when I paint anything white because they all yellow...even the ones that say they are non yellowing. I use a water based sealer....maybe that’s what you aren’t liking about it?
Fabulous Job. How durable is it ? as a counter top, doesn't it scratch n scuff easy ? I have to learn how to do this with automotive paint, I wanna marbleize my Truck.
Haha you sound like my kind of guy, maybe you can get the wrap material in marble and wrap your truck! lol They have held up really well for me. I put about 5 coats of sealer on it and that's it, I don't do anything else special for them. I'm not careful of them ...but I'm also not a caveman with them either! Good luck with your truck! =}
+Suzanna Escalante I just used some latex paint that I used to paint my walls with. I've also used the craft paints from Walmart to do it too. I did prime them first but my countertops are just plywood they aren't formica and they had already been painted once. If you are painting over formica I would suggest you use a primer for shiny surfaces. Years ago when I painted over formica I bought a primer that was used for boats and I didn't have any trouble at all with it scratching off. I bought it at Lowe's but I went back recently to buy more and they said they no longer carry it so you might have to try a boat supply store. I hope that helps! =}
Kman, when I painted my counters the first time I babied them but of course that got old pretty quick so we just lived with them doing nothing special but this tie around since I painted them white I have taken much greater care of them. I only cut on a cutting board and I don't sit anything hot directly onto them and other than that I haven't done anything special and they are holding up wonderfully! If you are hard on stuff though I wouldn't suggest doing this. =}
thank you Miss dream cakes what a cute name you gave yourself as well.. I love your accent.. And thank you that is really beautiful.. What do you think about epoxy instead of the polyurethane coat? I also love it that you didn't sand in between that seems like a lot of work and clean up to me If it ain't necessary I'm not doing it lol :-) thank you! 😜😃🌼
How long did you let the polyurethane dry between each coat totally ten>? And then how long did it have to cure? Does it scratch> ??? I am using an oil based poly - seems like it would repel the water better. Also an oil based kilz would be smart. Then the acrylic.
I used a water based poly so it dries very quickly. I let mine cure for a week before I sat stuff on them just to be sure and I haven't had any trouble with them. I wouldn't use an oil based poly because it yellows....even the ones that say they won't. If you are painting yours a dark color it won't matter but if you're doing them a light color, an oil based poly WILL yellow them.
+BlueMoonDust Awwww you never know, give it a try! It's not hard! Play around on a scrap piece of wood until you get comfortable doing it, I bet you'll be surprised how easy it really is! =}

Thank you! lol She's a mess!!! =}
Beautiful, Love your work, & your kitchen is lovely. Your video was great too, you move along quickly & you explain everything very well
Oh good! I love getting feedback because I'm a talker and I tend to ramble on needlessly, I'm glad to hear that wasn't the case with this video, thank you!!! =}
Thank you for this - I bought 2 of the "kits" and I am not crazy about the techniques. I love yours and you AND your accent (I'm from south GA); it reminds me of home and of close friends I have in Eastern NC. Take care and thank you so much for this! You rock! =)
Oh Donna, I'm so glad you found it helpful!! I watched a lot of videos before I did this and I found that the one I found the most helpful was a lady drinking wine while she was painting! haha! I'm glad the accent brought back good memories for you! I hope your painting project goes great!!! =}
Love the accent too, especially when she was describing the old caulking rag as "stee'eff" (stiff). Love it!
I love it!!! I’m trying this method for my bathroom counters :) thanks for sharing
Yayyy I’m glad you found my video helpful! I hope your counters turn out great and you love them! Mine are going on 5 years old and I still love them! 😁
Thank you so much for this! I will be doing this on my countertop this weekend! Blessings to you!
+vida130 Thank you so much Vida! =}
So nice! I’m trying to figure out the best way to do a faux marble on a glass table top. Do you think this could work on glass? Thanks!
I want to thank you. You're comment "I ain't afraid to play" inspired me and broke my nervousness.
Awwww that’s awesome! Don’t be afraid! If you don’t like the outcome....paint over it and do something else! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
You go girl! I'll paint just about anything too...and thanks for posting to save me some time from experimenting =)
This is AMAZING! Thank you so much for showing us all of this!!! I don't know yet when I will be doing this yet, we just bought our house and the counter tops are just horrible plastic blobby things.
this is an awesome tutorial! will be trying out today 😊
Awesome, I'm glad you found it helpful!!! I hope yours turned out exactly like you wanted!!! =}
Love this and it looks fabulous.
Could you use this method of painting on culture marble (a bathroom vanity)? So glad I found your videos .... you are truly inspiring me that I can do my home renovations MYSELF!! (my husband is a Debbie downer).
That's exactly why I've learned to do so much myself....I would rather just do it than listen to him complain about doing it the whole time! lol I've personally never painted on the cultured marble (one of the few things I haven't put paint on lol) but I would certainly give it a try. When I first started painting my countertops...sometime in the 90's.....I used a shiny surface primer that was sold for boats and it was AMAZING. I didn't have any trouble with my paint peeling or scratching off of the tiles I painted. I bought it at Lowe's but I've been told they no longer carry it but if I were you, I would try to get my hands on some of that to prime it with first then paint your heart out!!! lol =}
Thank you so much 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I'm getting my feather right now 👍🏻👍🏻😊
+Patrice Wall-Baxter Awesome! I hope your project goes well! =}
feather is BRILLIANT!
Hahahahaha ur cat was being ruuuuude 😂 ty for this video tho!!!! I have tackled my dining table today and needless to say it was a FAIL 😂
But will try ur technique tomorrow!!!! U made it look so easy
Yessss she was, and still is! lol Oh nooo don’t let it stay a fail, paint that sucker again!!! lol 😬
Gina- This is just amazing to watch! I love the shine on your counter tops! Great job girl! Your husband must have been thrilled with how you transformed your kitchen!
mysonruns Thank you Katie! Honestly he couldn't care less! lol I have been doing this for 30 years now! We've lived in this house for almost 20 years and I have redone the kitchen 8 times (I think, it might be more) lol Maybe one of these days I'll see if I can dig out pics of what it looked like some of the other times! My dad used to joke and say that my house didn't need insulation I had enough paint on the walls to cover that! lol =}
That's hysterical! Your dads very funny!
Love, Love, LOVE. Oh my gosh!!! I found you today and love your work. Thank you for the tutorial. 😚
Thank you so much Amy! I primed them with a water based Kilz! You can totally do this look! Just play around on a scrap board until you get a technique you like down and then you’ll be ready and confident enough to tackle your counter tops! =}
Great effect! I can't find the time atm, but will add to fave vids, I have a craft room that I have left untouched...life gets so busy!
juliet Whittaker It does doesn't it? I'm working on my craft/sewing room right now! I'm turning my sons old bedroom into my "escape" room! lol =}
I am doing the same thing with my daughters old bedroom I am extremely excited!!!!
10 COATS?! thats awesome!
Wonderful way to spruce the place up.
nice video.it easy to learn.thanks
@MsDreamcakes . YOU, my friend are a miracle worker! Ain't NO ONE on this planet could have shown me this !!! Thank you!!
Beautiful!!!!
Thank you Jude! =}
I'll go with it :-D
Thanks again and I'll let you know how it goes.
What kind of paint do you use? Water based? Acrylic? I know you mentioned clear polyurethane topcoat. I love this technique I am going to use this technique on my coffee table, 2 end tables and a sofa table. I can't wait!!
Yes, everything is water based (acrylic), the paint and the sealer! I'm excited for you to give it a try!!! I love mine and have painted my countertops and tabletop in my RV using this method! Let me know how yours goes!! =}
Hi, I love your technique. Looks do ez but i am very good at messing things! I do want to try this on my rest room marble vanity. Would i use the same ware based primer and sealant?
I meant water based... sorry.
Hi JD, if your surface is real marble I’m not sure I would recommend this for that surface. If your surface is man made marble you can paint it but I would use an oil based primer. I have found that a primer used to prime boats works really well on very smooth surfaces like man made marble! =}
How long does it take to dry between the poly coats? Thank you in advance. It turned out beautifully
Thank you Debra! It’s dries very quickly...like 30 minutes-ish!
You used polyurethane thinner for the coat? I didnt undertood what you said. Sorry. Thanks for the video!
Mrs.Regina what type of paint are you using?
lol "I ain't afraid to paint anythang" thanks a bunch lots of help
+Paloma-Marina Barberena lol I don't even remember saying that, I'll have to watch it again! lol Thank you for checking it out! =}
"paloma-marina" , and "lupinear" -I hate haters, and posters like you...people like you just suck in negativity. I'm an art major, and a painter, and won awards in college, so I'm decent at it, and picky when it comes to other painter's skills -I think the woman did a pretty impressive job in painting...
shell shell I don't think she was hating but loving her southern accent. Take a chill pill will ya??? LOL
J Flo Will do, and heard...lol :p . It just bugs me sometimes people are so crappy and corageous behind a keyboard to bring another down
shell shell No worries. I hear ya. 😊
I've seen in the comments you recommend a shiny primer for actual countertops? what do you mean by that? Sorry I've never done anything like this and the house I'm moving into has hideous dingy yellow countertops and love the way this look so I really want to try it
I mean you should use a shiny surface primer so that the paint will stick to the formica really good. I just painted the countertops in my RV and I'm working on the video to go up later today. I used a primer meant for boats. I bought it online on Amazon and it's called "Total Boat" by Jamestown Distributors. I've painted almost every kind of surface I you can imagine! lol =}
The cat 😂 lmao
Girl, she’s a MESS!!! lol 🤣🙈🤣
MsDreamcakes your comment to the cat is what had me. I laughed so hard, your a mess but in a good funny way. Thank you for that and I am excited to ty your method out someday.
@@MsDreamcakes she looks like a darling xx
Hi...you've done a beautiful job on this.I actually painted my countertops a few years ago and they turned out better than I expected. Unfortunately, they've begun to "yellow" from the polyurethane we used to seal it. I was curious if you've had any discoloration with the polycrylic? I'm planning on redoing mine next week and I want to make the best possible choice in sealers this time. Thanks!
Hey Tralace! I didn’t understand polyurethane on mine for that very reason. I did use it when they were black because it didn’t matter. I knew it would yellow my white ones so I used a water based sealer! It’s worked beautifully! No yellowing at all! I used polycrylic by Minwax! I hope you get yours exactly like you want this next time!! =}
Use*** not understand! (Autocorrect thought it knew what I was trying to say better than I did lol)
Awesome! Thanks so much for your reply... I'm hoping to get started on Monday as we're on spring break.
I was just wondering how you clean them? Is there a cleaner you can use on them that won't damage the top coat? Or do you just use water?
+laura przgoda I just clean them with whatever I'm cleaning the rest of the kitchen with. They will get stains like mustard but I just spray a mixture of bleach and water and they come right up!
I would like to do this with my 67X24 & 74X24 countertops, but with gray as my base color. How much paint do you think I will need?
Kitty! :) Thanks good video.
+yenlan patton If it's hard to get the paint off I would just sand it down a little and paint over it. If you get it back down to the laminate you will need to prime it first with a shiny surface primer before you paint it. I haven't had any trouble with the polyurethane on my painted countertops but I wouldn't put it directly on the laminate without paint under it. I hope you are able to fix them without too much trouble! =}
What kind of paint did you use for this? I'm wondering if I could use this technique on my laminate countertops and top with clear epoxy...

My sealer has done really good! I have had a couple small spots that “chipped” but it chipped all the way thru to the paint too so I just touched it up with a dab of fingernail polish that matched it! I used a water based sealer so that it didn’t yellow! I have found that where grease/oil comes in contact with it often it became a tiny bit tacky to the touch but I just put another coat of sealer and it fixed the problem! =}
+Amber Goodman Awww thank you so much!!! I wouldn't start with a black primer. I'm no professional but it makes more sense to start with a white, in my opinion! Let me know how yours turns out I love hearing how it works and if you like it or not! =}
What type of material is that you're painting on? Did you do a top coat first? Clearly I missed something. Really really nice, and I LOVE your countertops, they look natural to me!
Thank you Moogie! I was just painting on a scrap piece of wood to show how I did my counters. Mine are actually plywood and my basecoat was KILZ! =}
Great job. Love the look. How is your countertops holding up after one year? I'm planning to do this to my mother's kitchen top and just curious about how it will hold up.
Thank you TheSweetpea73! I have no complaints what so ever! My husband caused a nick in it but he was using the hammer on the counter to hammer something so you can't expect it to hold up under that! lol I don't ever cut anything on them directly I always use a cutting board and I don't sit hot stuff on them without using a pad under it but other than that I don't treat them special in any way! I've gotten stains on them and I just spray it with bleach water and they bleach right out! I hope your mom's turn out great, I love mine! =}
Can I use that same technique on my bathroom counters?
Absolutely!
Is Polyacrylic strong enough to be durable on a countertop? Cleaning it routinely?
It has been for me….I’m at around 5 years in and it’s starting to break down and needs to be redone!
How durable/waterproof is that finish? Is it durable enough for normal use around sinks and stove tops?
The rag is steeif. 😂😂🤣
my wife and I liked this video, by the way what kind of sealer did you use just a polyurathane?
Thank you Ted, I used a water based sealer because I don't want it to yellow. The oil based ones ALWAYS yellow and since these are white I wanted them to stay white. I haven't had any trouble with it being done with a water based sealer either so I'm very happy about that! =}
love the video, we just bought a fixer upper and don't have much of a budget so this is going to help us a lot! Did you let the paint dry before the top coat?
Thank you Kara, yes you will let the paint dry before you seal it but don't worry it dries really fast! =}
MsDreamcakes I used Minwax polycrylic water based (gloss finish) I’m sanding it off and redoing it with satin.
Fabulous Job. How durable is it ? as a counter top, doesn't it scratch n scuff easy ? I have to learn how to do this with automotive paint, I wanna marbleize my Truck.
Haha you sound like my kind of guy, maybe you can get the wrap material in marble and wrap your truck! lol They have held up really well for me. I put about 5 coats of sealer on it and that's it, I don't do anything else special for them. I'm not careful of them ...but I'm also not a caveman with them either! Good luck with your truck! =}
Very nice.can I apply it on the concreat floor???
Thank you Madhumita, I've never done it on concrete but I would think with the right primer it would work just fine! =}
so what kind of paint did you use? My son wants to paint his kitchen countertops just like this. Did you also prime them first?
+Suzanna Escalante I just used some latex paint that I used to paint my walls with. I've also used the craft paints from Walmart to do it too. I did prime them first but my countertops are just plywood they aren't formica and they had already been painted once. If you are painting over formica I would suggest you use a primer for shiny surfaces. Years ago when I painted over formica I bought a primer that was used for boats and I didn't have any trouble at all with it scratching off. I bought it at Lowe's but I went back recently to buy more and they said they no longer carry it so you might have to try a boat supply store. I hope that helps! =}
It does thank you.
Does the base coat of white need to be dry or wet when you start designi?ng
How in the world are COUNTERTOPS expected to hold up and withstand knives, cutting, dropping an item on, etc?
Kman, when I painted my counters the first time I babied them but of course that got old pretty quick so we just lived with them doing nothing special but this tie around since I painted them white I have taken much greater care of them. I only cut on a cutting board and I don't sit anything hot directly onto them and other than that I haven't done anything special and they are holding up wonderfully! If you are hard on stuff though I wouldn't suggest doing this. =}
Kman epoxy sealer
How did you prep your countertops for this? I really want to try it!
I primed them with an acrylic Kilz!
I have granite counter tops, but they are the Ugliest you've ever seen! Can you use this process to paint a granite counter top??
Great question.
So helpful, thank you!
I'm glad you found my video useful, thank YOU for watching! =}
thank you Miss dream cakes what a cute name you gave yourself as well.. I love your accent.. And thank you that is really beautiful.. What do you think about epoxy instead of the polyurethane coat? I also love it that you didn't sand in between that seems like a lot of work and clean up to me
If it ain't necessary I'm not doing it lol :-) thank you! 😜😃🌼
good job
I have a black table. I wanted to be Marvel with hunter green and beige can you please show me how to do the dark colors on black thank you
can I use this technique on laminate counters? I see you are showing it on a piece of wood.
Yes, you can but you will need to use a shiny surface primer first! =}
How long did you let the polyurethane dry between each coat totally ten>? And then how long did it have to cure? Does it scratch> ??? I am using an oil based poly - seems like it would repel the water better. Also an oil based kilz would be smart. Then the acrylic.
I used a water based poly so it dries very quickly. I let mine cure for a week before I sat stuff on them just to be sure and I haven't had any trouble with them. I wouldn't use an oil based poly because it yellows....even the ones that say they won't. If you are painting yours a dark color it won't matter but if you're doing them a light color, an oil based poly WILL yellow them.
Very nice, thank you for sharing 🙂
But this requires artistic ability that I don't have... :(
+BlueMoonDust Awwww you never know, give it a try! It's not hard! Play around on a scrap piece of wood until you get comfortable doing it, I bet you'll be surprised how easy it really is! =}
Is that clearcoat oil or water based?
How long does this process last on your countertops
I painted my kitchen countertops like this over 5 years ago and we’re still going strong (not a single touch up)!
How long after painting should I wait to apply the polycrlic.
I sealed it as soon as the paint dried! =}
Love your accent
