Ernie Ball slinky's... I have done a lot playing live on it, I use a Brian Wampler ego compressor just to capture the detail a bit more and plug straight in to the PA...cheers
I use 11-52 Ernie Ball's and plug directly into pro tools. Most of my sessions are recorded at 96 kHz 24bit which help capture a better dynamic range... esp for acoustic guitar. The guitar itself has a great pickup, eq's and reverbs...hope that helps
I have tried a few compressor's the Wampler just sounds good to me... of course there are many. No DI box, just straight into the PA when playing live. When the opportunity comes I will definitely post some live stuff up. I'm playing a strat at most of my gigs at the moment... cheers
Simon I can’t stop watching this video! You’re playing is mesmerizing! May I humbly ask that you put this exact video down in tablature for all of us ?, I would pay money for this lesson!!! It’s spectacular! Thank you
Bonjour de France, j'en ai une une yamaha Slg 200 s j'adore cette guidage, elle a une sonorité vraiment haut de gamme et pas de larsen avec les ampli genial 🥸👍🎸 Hello from France, I have one, a Yamaha Slg 200 s, I love this guitare, it has a really high-end sound and no feedback with the awesome amps 👍🎸
Love your phrasing, and your tone is spectacular... great work! I've never played the steel string silent buy I'm on my 2nd nylon string model and am so inspired whenever I pick it up. It's art as well as an instrument!
Simon, you're great! I'm just starting to use both silent guitars, the classical is with a reduced neck, very good for solos. It sounds great with Bahia Funk from Ritenour. Ciao!
Hi Simon, reviews I have watched all talk about the pickup, mic mod and effects, nobody seems to comment on the SLG as a guitar - action, feeling, holding tune etc... the normal stuff. Do you have an opinion in this regard? Thanks
Ordered some yesterday, thanks. Is it the Wampler Compressor specifically or have you tried others? Be great to see you playing this in a live situation. Can you please post? I notice then you're not using a DI box. Cheers
incredible, very relaxing, PERFECT, Simon I bought the SLG110S, what did you improve on the guitar? the setting was awful so I gave it to the guitar specialist to optimize. Now also changed strings from >11´ this time playing 9´ Strings - better but...
Mr Kinny-Lewis, congratulations on your playing! I recently bought this same guitar (after reading some reviews and also watching your videos), but I don't know much about electric/amplified instruments. In particular, I'm not sure if I should consider this guitar's output like that of an electric guitar with passive pickups, that can go through all kind of stompboxes, multieffects, amplifiers etc., or if it might be too high or "hot" for particular stompboxes, amplifiers etc. I read you use a compressor; do you think any stompbox compressor would "accept" the signal from this guitar, or is the one you use a special one? Thank you very much!
Hey man, this is straight out of the shop with no modifications. It sounds great through nearly anything... I've plugged it into not the best PA systems/amps performing overseas and it always delivers a great sound. I do really like the sound of my wampler "Ego Compressor" (which is a high end stomp compressor pedal ) but even with no compressor the pick up system and design of the Yamaha silent is quite amazing.... hope this helps, cheers
Simon Kinny-Lewis Thank you for your help! I'm not a native English speaker, so I think I wasn't clear: what I meant is, you have to use particular stompboxes, or theoretically you can plug the silent guitar into any kind of stomps and gear that you can use with an ordinary electric guitar (when I wrote "is the one you use a special one" I intended to refer to the compressor you use, sorry for the confusion). By the way, I'm loving this guitar's neck, I find it very comfortable!
Wondering, is that Ernie Ball - Earthwood Acoustic 80/20 Bronze Strings, or the Ernie Ball 2148 Super Slinky Acoustic Strings, or ...? That would help a lot. Are you using this guitar live?
Ernie Ball slinky's... I have done a lot playing live on it, I use a Brian Wampler ego compressor just to capture the detail a bit more and plug straight in to the PA...cheers
I have been playing for over 50 years and can say, you have heart and soul. Loved it. Thank you.
Salute for your performance 👍
I'm jealous. Wonderful. Beautiful playing

Great video and playing my friend. Thanks Brother.

Are you still playing this guitar ? Considering buying it. How comfortable is it ? Pros / Cons ? Thanks!
Still play it at all my solo shows... can't fault it, great sound and very easy to get around on esp if your coming from playing more electric
Great impro, which mode is that ?
Great video. Are you using stock strings? I'm having trouble doing bends. I can only seem to do half a step.
Cheers I'm using 11-52's
Waw!
Please tell us what strings you find work best on this guitar, and what you're running this through?
Thanks

The wampler compressor is what I use live and it's amazing... it definitely helps the clarity, cheers and thx for the support!

What kind of strings and gauge were you using?
Great Sound and playing! Which Kind of pick you use? (Dunlop)? Thanks Master:)
I can see your a Robben Ford man Simon! Pick strings out of CHORDS. That's why ROBBEN IS SO GOOD!
show♫♪
Get on your bad self! Nice.
I have one of these. The action is terrible. Better used as a mallot. Love Yamaha - but these suck. Electronics are great - but neck is very unstable.
Great player! But for Christ’s sake he’s in dire need of some laxatives ! Someone help the man before his head blows up!
