Volume 5 of my train sounds compilation is here! I have recorded track-sound related videos on many of my journeys, but this one is on a whole new level. I spent most of the day at the door of the 12214 Delhi-Yesvantpur Duronto Express - a train famed for its blistering run as it dispatches train after train on the loop line during its 33-hour journey. Much of the speeds in the video are in excess of 100kph, topping out at 120kph. This speed, combined with the different spacing of wheels and bogies (LHB vs ICF coaches), makes for an entertaining sound show.
Some wind noise is present in the video, and was not avoidable.

Hard to sleep on the side with headphones on...on the 5.1 though...side lower berth feeling.

This is some next level dedication, man.... not volume 1, but vol. 5! I can't imagine that someone would stand at the train door for 1 hour+ recording this.... 5 times! It seems like very random and strange thing to find on UA-cam but it has a special value. To Indian railways fans and someone in the future who will be doing research on the history of India this is probably gold.

These track sounds are not just sounds for the railfans.. Its music for them...i am also a railfan.. For me these sounds are more than a song for me i m totally relaxed..😃😃😁

Thanks so much for this. The track sound changed a bit around 10:00 seems like a departure from long welded rails or maybe its something else. The scenery is beautiful and a major initial portion (around first 20mins) is from my district (Betul, MP). Its a beautiful stretch of tracks running across Satpura forests with bankers pitching in for Dharakoh-Maramjhiri section. Thanks again for the video - soothing to eyes and years specially in current times.
At 30:25 ... Right after Machna river bridge and behind Barbatpur railway station i can spot my Grandpa's house. Many Thanks for the video.
These long welded rails lack the drama that's in the Vol.2. Still, it helped me sleep last night. Thanks for shooting and sharing. Cheers!

Dheeraj Rao..what a dedication !! To record album after album on various and regional trains of Broad-gauge, position the HD cam at a very strategic position, take the feeds from both sides of the compartment and in both directions and then to upload...you got to have a lot of patience. And your name says it very precisely Dheeraj-Patience. I have been hooked on sleeping or cat-napping on these now. Many times I leave it running 24/7 while at home. Takes me back to 70s and 80s, on western railway between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Great work that has an immense level of dedication.

@Nitin: No external mic was used for this video. Just the camera's mic.

Great video. LHB rakes tend to screech more, presumably this is due to a lower conical angle on the wheels for higher stability at speed, causing the flanges to strike the rails, but I'm just guessing.
Good point. The coaches are also longer than their ICF counterparts by almost 2m.

Why ICF coaches gives more rhythmic & more clear track sound than LHB?
Depends on the bogies and wheels.
Place name could be flashed now and then on the runnning scenes . That will give an added privilege to us the viewers . Even without it it is enjoyable as we. feel we are crossing scenic places . Thanks and regards 23 .9.24 Shamyaprasa

However, having spent countless hours here, I can make a calculated judgment on when to peep out the door and when to stay inside. In fact, most of the video was shot when I was well inside since that'd help me avoid wind noise. It's still not very safe, but it's okay. Thanks for the concern. :)

Thanks. This is the best possible sound quality that I could manage. You cannot expect perfect sound from a camera held out of a train at speeds of 100+ kph. I was already using a wind filter.

Watch the other videos for scenery. There's only so much one can try to show with an unwieldy camcorder from the door of a train doing 130km/h.
